Summary: I Finally "Got It" with Dennis Lehane
Review: Took me three Lehane books to catch on to what all the raving was about. "Darkness, Take My Hand" was too depressing for me. While I enjoyed "Sacred", I thought that was due to the Florida locations.

But with "Prayers For Rain" I am converted and will now read his entire repertoire. It's Mr. Lehane's writing that's the winner, not just the Florida settings of "Sacred."

The lead characters and their network are quite colorful and the action is first rate. It's truly a fast read and the resolution is satisfying.

The small backstory on Bubba was a big help for me in accepting and understanding this off center character.

This series could easily have screen possibilities with Ben Affleck my choice to play the lead.

Summary: Prayers for More Dennis Lehane Books...
Review: This book really rocks. It's perfectly paced with excellent character development. Lehane really knows how to write compelling dialogue. Reading this book is like watching a terrific crime movie where you're on the edge of your seat wondering how it's going to turn out with each turn of the page. It's a novel full of psychos, weirdos and other fascinating characters, you'll get a kick out of reading it.

Summary: One more fantastic journey
Review: Dennis Lehane's works are those which lingered even after you finished the pages. I'm so happy I discovered him.

After Gone, Baby, Gone, which the ending left me quite speechless, I wondered how in the world the trio Patrick, Angie, and Bubba, are going to work together again. Keep wondering after this book arrived in my hand and once again, Mr. Lehane, from the bottom of my heart, I saluted you!! Your choice to explore more Bubba's side was excellent. And I was so delighted you made Angie back with a plot that was perfect enough...considering the end of Gone, Baby, Gone.

I need to read more of this series. I'm addicted, and it's your fault, Mr. Lehane...

Summary: Psychos More Believable & Scarier Than Lecter
Review: Pat, Angie, & Bubba are pulled into the world of another psychotic when Patrick finds an ex-client has committed suicide. His investigation reveals a life gone to hell bit by bit in six months leading to a fatal plunge. They uncover a web of insidiousness that leads to a man who enjoys destroying lives slowly. A ruthless killer, he destroys any who get in his way-friend or foe. This is another excellent Boston PI story from Lehane. Now I have to wait until February for his latest.

Summary: Dennis, I hope you're working on the next one!
Review: Oh my god. I've read all of Dennis Lehane's books. Now what? Sure I can read Faye Kellerman and Jonathan Kellerman and Martha Grimes and P.D. James and on and on and on. But, there is no one like Dennis. Now Dennis, I don't want to put any pressure on you, but you need to start writing right away. I don't know how long I can remain patient. So stop reading and start writing. Julie

Summary: ANOTHER WINNER!
Review: I read this book by Dennis Lehane first. After reading it I immediately when to Amazon and ordered all the others at once. Dennis Lehane has created characters that are so believable and stories that are so engrossing that I read each book in a day. My husband couldn't stand my talking about Patrick Angie and Bubba as though they were friends, even Bubba is sometimes a pussycat,(I have never done this with characters before) so he began to read these books and became as engrossed as I was. We hope Dennis has another book out soon the man is a wonderful writer. We love these characters and hope he can keep thinking up more stories involving them.

Summary: Unforgetttable
Review: Somehow he manages to make a very dark subject, the damage a sociopath can do into a facinating read. He shows the controlling influence in a way that leaves no doubt of the charismatic power or evil intent. It is deep and extremely accurate, while never talking like a text book. Only to be read if the real horrors of the man on the street don't fase you. Brilliant.

Summary: Prayers for More
Review: Before you read this book and enjoy the story, the plot, the language, and the characters; make sure you also read the first four books in the series. All of them including the latest book "Prayers for Rain" are absolute top-class - intelligent, witty, and hard-boiled - all at once. I keep the books by Lehane on the same shelf as the books by Raymond Chandler and Michael Connelly.

Summary: Prayers for the next Kenzie-Gennaro book!
Review: Even though I am an avid reader, I haven't been able to get into a book recently--until now. "Prayers for Rain" kept me on the adge of my seat and left me wanting even more of Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro! I have been a HUGE Dennis Lehane fan since I "discovered" him early last year, and this book certainly kept with the Lehane tradition. Someone please tell me when the next book is coming out!! Other authors pale in comparison to this man and his story telling!

Summary: He's done it again!
Review: I've read all of this author's books and while I have a few favorites, I like them all. My favorite was Gone Baby Gone and I'm putting this one right behind that. I'm going to overlook some things that I think should have been obvious, like the fact that the mail was disappearing. I jumped on that clue right up front. I'm also intrigued by the fact that this crew breaks and enters more than I eat lunch and never really gets caught and prosecuted. The plot moves along and I love the characters. In this book I was very interested to see another side of Bubba and I'm loving him and Vanessa as an item. Somehow, even with the differences, it works for me. I can't wait until there's a next book and I'd recommend all of them.
