Rating: Summary: Not My Favorite of the Prey Books Review: I don't want to start out by saying I was disappointed by this book in the "Prey" series, however, after "Eyes of Prey", reading "Silent Prey" was a bit of a let-down. The amount of characters was a bit confusing in the beginning (I couldn't tell who was going to be "important" and who was just a "filler"). Also, the author seemed to jump around with the story line. Towards the end, the characters balanced themselves out and the story was wrapped up nicely. Having just discovered the "Prey" series, I will definitely continued to read along in order.
Rating: Summary: Certain Prey Review: I have read all of the "Prey" books. This one was like the icing on the cake. Sandford just gets better and better. The 2 women antagonists blew me away. Lucas Davenport is the kind of cop I'd want working for me. He's smart, persistent, tenacious. If you haven't read any of Sandford's Prey series this is a great place to start.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best "Preys" Review: I have read every book in Sandford's "Prey" series and this is one of the best. Once again the insane Dr. Bekker (die already) is back. This one is a must read, however, if you have not read EYES OF PREY, read it first...its makes this one much better. (For that matter, read them all, they are all very good!)
Rating: Summary: NOT AS GOOD AS OTHERS!!!! Review: I have read five "Prey" books. I have liked all of them fairly well, some more than others. but this was the worse one to me. Dr. Bekker is back after a break out from the place where his trial is going on. I figured he would be back as Eyes of Prey ended like it did. Davenport is called to New York to help find him, at least that is the reason first given. Then there is a story in the story, about the possiblity of Cops killing people. They want Lucus to try to find them as well as help on Bekker. Was very confusing to me, hard to keep the two seperate. Lucus is his usual bed hopping self. That I don't care for but I guess if I don't, I don't have to read them. The ending is good, but I just never got a good feel for the book. First one of Sandford's that I almost had to make myself finish.
Rating: Summary: easy to read Review: I have read so many books that are choppy, disorganized, and hard to follow. I really enjoyed this book for the flow and continuity. The story line didn't have a lot of loose ends or mistakes. This was my first book by John Sandford. I thought his plot was interesting, kept my interest, and showed writing ability. I certainly intend to read others.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I thoughly enjoyed this book, John Sandford certainly knows how to portray twisted minds. It was interesting to read about Bekker's "ants" that crawl through his blood vessels. He also knows how to keep you guessing, I was trying to figure out who the Robin Hoods where through the whole book. Who it is may surprise you.
Rating: Summary: Sandford achieves excellence Review: I was amazed to find that, as much as I enjoyed Eyes of Prey, Silent Prey was even better. This book has it all -- characters, suspense, mystery, scenery, and plot. If Sandford's Prey series is, as it should be, read in sequence (Rules, Shadow, Eyes, Silent,...), this book provides a nice continuity by revisiting characters from the preceding works. I don't give 5-star ratings lightly -- this is the first in the series which I think justifies it. But in this book the series reaches a level of excellence which is really memorable.
Rating: Summary: I tired easily from struggling through this verbose story . Review: On and on and on it goes, where it stops.....who cares? very verbose story filled with so many characters it's hard to keep track. the longer I struggled with it, the more worn out I felt. At half point I skipped to the end to find out who had done it, said oh, ho hum and tossed it.
Rating: Summary: Wasnt as good as the others but i was not disapponted. Review: Sanford pleased me again. The second Prey book i read, but not the better of them. The book starts off excellent, and goes through excellent until the end when i was slightly disappointed. As Davenport hunts for Bekker, a mad doctor, he also searches for a group of hitmen who may be in a killing ring. But while investigating these two cases in New York, he uncovers more than he ever thought he would. I loved how he kept you in suspense and wonder about how Bekker did this and that, and who was running the killing ring, but was slightly disappointed with the ending how all the information didnt slowly unravel but spilled out and made you have to think but wasnt so bad because when you started to think Davenport told you how he knew. VEry well written it was still exciting and throat grabbing. Id recommend it but not to first time Prey readers i would recommend read another prey novel first. Also liked the extra sex added in this time. Much more than the other two i read, it kinda makes it more realistic.
Rating: Summary: Here we go, again... Review: Serial killer Bekker escapes from his captors and rejoins the world to practice his obsession... capturing (on film) the essence of the human soul as it departs the body at the moment of death. Can he be stopped before any more innocent victims fall silent prey to his malicious science experiment?Dear reader will enjoy what is sure to become a made-for-television drama aired long after the kids go to sleep at night. Borrowing heavily from the ideas that made American Psycho a unique horror to read, this story just doesn't quite measure up. We've seen this kind of sick-o story time and time again.
