Summary: Pretty good
Review: Thought the series was beginning to slow down a little bit. Glad to see it recovery nicely. Gonna miss the Dolan character, wouldn't mind if Lucy moved back down south though. Caught the dinosaur references also..picky picky, blame it on an editor. All in all an enjoyable story, looking forward to the next one.

Summary: Best of the Elvis Cole series!
Review: Robert Crais' most thoughtful and mature work to date. Particularly effective in the slow revealing of Joe Pike's past. Engrossing conclusion as we see Elvis Cole wrestle with the consequences of difficult decisions concerning love, friendship, and morality. Crais has presented a more mature and therefore more satisfying study of the consequences of personal conflicts and actions.Taut writing and strong characters make this a book you cannot put down.Be prepared to spend the night turning pages and experiencing a wonderful novel!

Summary: It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!
Review: I've been an Elvis Cole fan since THE MONKEY'S RAINCOAT, and each book has been better than the one before. Mr. Crais has outdone himself with L.A. REQUIEM. I read a LOT, and this is by far the best book I've read this year. If this doesn't put Crais' name on the best-seller list, I don't know what will. Will look forward to what happens next!

Summary: The new Elvis mystery was mature, engrossing, heart breaking
Review: I stayed up a hour past my bedtime (in tears) to finish this teriffic read. The last 100 pages I could not turn fast enough to to see what happened to Pike and Elvis. I was especially touched with the way Crais captured what Elvis felt at various times i.e. love, hopelessness, loneliness, happiness, loyalty, anger and etc. I am eagerly awaiting, the next book to see the outcome of the unresolved issues.

Summary: I loved it!
Review: Robert Crais is my favorite mystery writer and he didn't let me down with this book. I began reading it the day I got it and did not stop until I finished it. Can't wait for his next book! I hope Pike continues to have a more meatier part - I enjoy his interactions with Elvis and Lucy. He is a great balance to Elvis' 'flip' personality!

Summary: How did I miss his earlier novels
Review: I am a long time fan of police books. Perhaps over 20 years with the DA's office has something to do with it, or is it two sons who are officers with major police agencies. To the best of my knowledge this is the first Robert Crais novel that I have read; how could I have missed the earlier ones? Michael Connelly and Harry Bosch are probably my favorite combination but Robert Crais and the pair of Pike and Cole will have a place in my collection. Mr. Crais plot is well developed, it moves rapidly and comes to a fitting conclusion. I look forward to reading his next novel.

Summary: Only OK
Review: Got this book for the hype (like David Baldacci's over-the-top recommendation, "One of the best crime novels I've ever read!" which indicates he's read maybe two), and the great looking cover. Clearly, Crais is looking to move out of the genre class into the mainstream. I think he's better off in genre. A lot of the "hard boiled" talk and descriptions seem forced here. And there is some sloppy writing, too. On page 12, for instance, a place is described as having "bird-of-paradise plants as big as dinosaurs..." Then, just a few pages later, the palm trees are described as "tall and vulnerable like the necks of giant dinosaurs..." A different metaphor wouldn't have been hard to come up with. The back story on Pike is not very original (I won't give it away, but most of it we've seen before) and for those without a Pike & Cole background, this book doesn't stand alone too well. Crais is clearly a talented writer, but I think he's best back with the old Elvis, or trying to do a novel with brand new characters. But keep whoever designed the cover!

Summary: If I could I would rate this book 100 stars.
Review: This book grabbed my attention after the first charter I read. It was so well pu together and the plot twisted. If you like to read iris Johansen You will love this 382 page thriller.

Summary: Spenser Killer
Review: I have followed Spenser for ten or so years now and have only recently found Elvis Cole, out with the old and in with the NEW! My only fear is that if Mr Crais is too slow in writing a new Cole novel he might become a crime statistic himself! L.A Requiem finally unseats Parkers A Catskill Eagle as the best detective book to date!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A page turner all the way through!
Review: I thought "L.A. Requiem" was the best of the series, a riveting book, gripping, and fast-paced. I've read two books in the last three days, which is very rare for me. I just read "The Triumph and the Glory" which was fantastic, then read "L.A. Requiem". I live for detective series and historical fiction series novels, so believe me, I had a great weekend with these two superlative novels.
