Rating: Summary: You gotta love it!! Review: Clancy has written a novel that illustrates the current thinking of America and Russia along with brilliant military knowledge. It is suspenseful and interesting the whole way through. The chararacters are amazing. I couldn't put the book down. However, the best part is that the ending is different from the movie and both endings are great
Rating: Summary: Great book, worth a second read Review: This book is great, and though it had a lot of technical jargon, it was explained so that you weren't off to search for an explanation. The plot was believable, and well paced, and the writing style was smooth and pleasing to read. The ending was understandable, and left a sense of closure, wonder why he doesn't try to re-open the Red October saga again(besides the fact that the ship was scuttled in a later book) A great beach book, or night stand reader. Much better then some of his more recent efforts
Rating: Summary: A nail-biting, edge of your seat novel, hard to put down. Review: Clancy tells the story of both sides so well, its hard to belive this is a fiction novel. I tells accurate statics and capeabilites for Soviet and American subs, but in terms the reader can understand. The way that the story is told, is hard tostop reading it. A MUST READ!!
Rating: Summary: Better than the movie Review: Very good book, best book Tom Clancy has written. Much better than the movie
Rating: Summary: Much better than the movie Review: The Hunt for Red October is definetly one of the best submarine novels written. Tense, suspenseful moments, technically accurate and plenty of undersea (and some oversea) action too!!! Good stuff
Rating: Summary: The Hunt For Red October: </I> Krasny Octbryya Review: Tom Clancy, Insurance salesman for much of his life writes the best book I have ever read. He spares no detail in the story of a Russian Captain's push to defect to the United States of America. This is the first book in which we are introduced to Lt. Jack Ryan, CIA. When the VK Konovalev fires on the Red October, will the torpedo detonate? Who knows. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is one of Clancy's masterpeices! Cutting edge action!
Clancy shows off his amazing knowledge of US and Russian Intelligence and army/naval knowledge. If you liked other of Cancy's novels then READ THIS ONE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!
Rating: Summary: A INCREDIBLY INTREGUEING BOOK!!!! Review: This book shows just how phenominal Tom Clancy can be. It is impossible to put this book down. The description
of the submarines is unprecided, even by the US NAVY
help manuals. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I am 14 and I read The Hunt for Red October. It is the best book I have ever read.I can't wait to read the rest of his books and find out what happens to Jack Ryan
Rating: Summary: The Start of Something Great Review: Tom Clancy established himself as both the invemtor and the master of an entire genre with just one book. Many people know it from the movie, but the book is so much better (as many books-into-movies are.) The scope of the novel and the way that Clancy sets up future novels is extrordinary. Go ahead, read the rest of the Jack Ryan series (essentially, everything except Red Storm and Without Remorse) and then go back to the Hunt. Clancy has truly created a parallel universe that is frighteningly close to our own. A truly gripping read
