Summary: Chapter 28
Review: Amelia Sachs, "Stripping down to her T-shirt, she flings away her gas-soaked uniform blouse and bullet proof vest", she then runs down to the basement of the burning building, "With her knife she cut a patch off her uniform blouse and lifted the crackling extinguisher by it's neck". Is Amelia Sachs a member of the magic circle? Or did she have a spare uniform blouse in her pocket? If not for this oversight in chapter 28 I would have given this book a 5 star rating, it's one of the best books that I have read in some time and I've bought and read every Jeffery Deaver book in the Lincoln Rhyme series since (and they all get 5 stars).

Summary: Do you like thrillers? Then buy this!
Review: Now this book is about a real strange investigation. Or did you ever hear of detectives discussing a case in a civilian's appartment while in the same room a scientist is trying to analyse evidence? This is exactly what is happening in this book. Only that Lincoln Rhyme is not quite a civilian, he used to run crime scenes himself but after an accident he is paralysed from the neck down so he spends his whole time in his appartment thinking about how to put an end to his life. When his former collegues ask him for his help with a case he agrees but decides that this case will be his last. As he is unable to move Amelia Sachs who usually works on patrol becomes Lincoln's eyes, ears, hands and feet at the scene of crime where he directs her how to collect evidence. But as this is not the work she is used to do she is not happy with what she has to do now and she also has a problem with the way Lincoln wants things done. But somehow during the case Amelia and Lincoln start to develope some understanding for each other. The tricky thing about the case is that the killer always leaves clues about where to find the next victim. So they have to work against the time and try to decipher the clues before the next victim gets killed. But can they manage to get that one step ahead and know in advance where the killer will strike again so that they'll be able to catch him?

This is definitly one of the best books I read this year (so far). Though I must admit I didn't like the first few pages. But once I got started I couldn't wait to get back home every day to go on reading. What I really liked about this book that beside getting to know about the state of the investigations you'll also get to know about the killer's thoughts. So you know when Lincoln and his team are moving in a right direction or how close they really are about to catch the killer. The killer by the way is one of the characters in the book, just in case you like to guess who did it. Because even though his thoughts are revealed you won't find out who it is till the end. But the story is not only about the investigation. You'll also get to know Amelia and Lincoln, their thoughts, feelings and pasts and you'll get to like them. I'm sure I won't miss them because at the very end of the book someone offered them a new case. So there'll be a chance to read more about them and I'll definitly take that chance.

Summary: Cool Book, educating, thrilling, and a bit twisted.
Review: I read one of Deaver's early books with the Rune Character and it was not my kind of book. This book though is something else. It is Educating as far as how forensic investigation works with cool plot twists and and storyline. The characters personalities add to the overall story. This is a fast paced book that does not drag. The author does give some good info on forensic stuff but does not overwhelm with a lot of scientific babble that the average reader cannot understand. One warning the book has some gruesome stuff in it!

Summary: Very Good
Review: I found this book to be very good. I haven't read many of Jeffery Deaver's books, but I have to say this is the best so far.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: What a great read!
Review: This book is a must-read. In it, Deaver simultaneously creates a sub-genre (master criminalist as detective), introduces some terrific and unique characters and sets up a wickedly exciting chase, full of suspense.

On the technical side, this book really shows up writers like Patricia Cornwell. It's obvious that Deaver has done a tremendous amount of homework and you come away feeling like you've just completed a NYPD forensics course. On the character side, Deaver has created as enjoyable and interesting pair of investigators as anyone. You feel like you could reach out and shake their hands.

But it is on the plot side that Deaver shines most. His style can only be described as wrenching -- just as you think you know where the book is going to go, it turns and runs full-tilt in a completely unexpected direction. The book is full of surprises and suspense -- you can feel your palms dripping in a couple of the scenes.

Grab this book and read the next two, they are just great.

Summary: Wonderful start of a new series
Review: I got to be honest, I first knew about this book from the movie. I liked the movie so I checked out the book. And I must say the book was WAY much better than the movie. The characters were powerfully portrayed. I found myself another great series to collect.

Summary: Bone Chilling Suspense
Review: King of Forensics, Lincoln Rhyme a main character of the suspense novel, The Bone Collector; is a paraplegic ex-police detective, Head of Forensics. He is on the hunt for a serial killer. I for one am a person who loves suspense novels. I always wanted to see what was going to happen next. Jeffery Deaver, the author of the book is very good at leaving you hang out to dry. He will go to a scene where it shows the killer and his victim, and right at the high point of the scene, Deaver suddenly jumps to the police station or Lincoln's apartment. It can be disturbing sometimes. I guess you will have to read the book to understand all of this. Highly recommended for suspense seekers. Amelia Sachs, Lincoln's walking, active partner, goes to the crime scene to try to find where the killing is going to take place. The author tries to make you think. Like a detective. He makes you use the clues like Lincoln has to that the killer leaves behind in order to understand the book. This book well deserves its four star rating. This book is good because of all the description Deaver uses. Such as giving explicit detail to what the killer is doing to the victim. Not too much, but just enough and that is what makes the book so twisted.

Summary: Lincoln and Amelia, a crime couple for the ages
Review: Lincoln Rhymes, a brilliant criminologist, has been crippled in a terrible accident. He wants to die. When an old friend walks into his apartment and asks him to look over a case, he says yes, means no. However, the case appeals to him and he puts off his suicide to help. He brings on Amelia Sachs, an officer who doesn't want to be there, but has great instincts.

Jeffery Deaver takes his readers on a fascinating, intriguing walk through the crimes of a madman, and the minds of the two broken souls trying to find him. With a fabulous cast of secondary characters, a terrific nail-biting writing style, and a great hero/heroine, this book is a must-read!
