Summary: Get this book.
Review: I read this book at age ten and one thing that scared me the worst was the part where the shark had the 6 year old kid for its meal, Benchley is the master of this kind of horror and JAWS is the book that made him what he is as a writer. If any writer deserves a lifetime achivement award for horror, it is Benchley. JAWS is a classic and a must have if one is reading "Twelve Days of Terror." My step-grandfather had a copy of JAWS laying around and I wish I had a copy of it, this is one book I will say if you have the book you are very lucky because this is a rare one. Benchley did a hell of a job with the novel as he did with the screenplay version of the book.

Summary: A Rare Exception...
Review: Usually the book is much better than the movie... This isnt quite so than with this book. This book is good, really good in fact, but it is very different than the movie. The ending isnt even close to the movies and the story driving the charaters isnt either. That being said, once i got into the book as it is i was really hooked. The outline is Still Cheif Brody, Hooper, and Quint doing their thing to stop the large shark from doing hers...It was just like realing a story about a shark in a parallel universe with the characters i loved from the movie... (who could ever forget Robert Shaw as Quint? may he RIP...)

I certainly suggest getting this book if you like page turners, just dont expect the movie to have been accurate... the only real similarity is that they are both exciting and will keep you out of the water...

Summary: Haven't seen the film...
Review: By far the most interesting piece of this book is shark. The shark attacks and the investigations afterwards are the glue that hold this otherwise pulpy chick-lit-esque book together. Unfortunately the book strays from the shark for the middle of the book and there are some excrusiatingly boring chapters about dinner parties, thoughts about love affairs, etc. There's one chapter in particular where Mrs. Brody stops at every single restroom she can (about one per every five pages) to a) change her underwear, b) powder herself and c) put powder in her shoes. YAWN. The chapter is so bad that it's almost funny.
