Summary: Most excellent fast paced thriller
Review: The General is a great first novel for Patrick A. Davis. A military thriller that will keep you turning pages well into the night.

I for one will be looking forward to Mr. Davis's next offering. I'm adding him to my list of must have authors.

His books will soon be compared to the likes of Nelson DeMille.

Someone, anyone.... Make sure I'm called when the next DAVIS is published.

Summary: This book is a grabber!
Review: The General is a murder mystery with a military backdrop that has you tearing around Washington, D.C., picking up pieces of the puzzle. Patrick Davis has an ear for writing good dialogue, and moves the action along. I was casting the movie as I read the book: Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman.....

Summary: A really exciting pageturner!!
Review: The General is an exciting military-based thriller written by a talented storyteller who knows his subject well and has the ability to make the reader a participant. This is Patrick Davis' first novel, and while he will no doubt become better at character development and scene description, the reader of this remarkable story will not be disappointed. The earlier reviewers who say that the author does not know the military are simply wrong; I'm a Naval Academy graduate, and I served with officers just like the author describes (villains excluded, of course). Those who say the plot was easily guessed are either not being truthful or are unusually perceptive. The plot is intricate yet completely believable as it unfolds. I had to force myself to put the book down so I could get some sleep. Hardcover fiction prices are too high, but as soon as this exciting author's current novel, The Passenger, makes it into paper, I'll spring for a copy. If you are looking for a really exciting pageturner (at a fair price), pick up a copy of The General now.

Summary: Starts Well Then Becomes Tedious And Predictable
Review: The General starts off like a fast jet but then drags on for much too long a time. Further, you are likely to guess the ending well before you get there. For me the only thrilling part of this so-called thriller was when I came to the last page and could move on to my next book.

Summary: The General
Review: The General written by Patrick A. Davis is a thriller at its best. Lieutenant Colonel Charles Jenson is put in charge of finding out who killed General Watkins. That is not an easy task considering there is not much help from the army and Air Force. If the truth ever came out the United States of America would be in serious trouble. As Colonel Jenson investigates the murder he runs into all sorts of problems. For one, General Watkins was working on an investigation of POWs in Vietnam. The information he learned from the investigation very well could have got him killed. As time passes there are even a few more homicides. Will Colonel Jenson ever find the killer?
Patrick A. Davis is a retired Air Force Colonel. He is a full time writer and has three books out right now. They are: The General, the Colonel, and The Passenger. All are exceptional mystery novels.

Summary: Tom Clancy and John Grisham watch out!
Review: The plot keeps twisting, as you keep turning... the pages, that is. I haven't read an author so compelling since Grisham. Patrick Davis better get started writing his next!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Remember Tom Clancy's first book? This one's way better!
Review: This book is unbelievelably good! The plot twists, the dialogue is realistic, the characters are believable. And the scope of the plot is grandiose. Mr. Davis is on his way big time, if he keeps this up. It has been a long time since I've enjoyed a book so much. The fact that I picked it up at the Admiral's Club at JFK for free did not influence this review -- if I could I'd send Mr. Davis his royalty check!

Summary: A great suspense thriller!!!
Review: This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't put it down. It will have you guessing till the very last chapter. Can't wait to read his next novel!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Good start, boring middle, predictable finish
Review: This effort to add yet another conspiracy-based story to the crowded field begins with a grisly murder. It offers some intriguing possibilities dealing with Viet-Nam era military events and then descends into a routine thriller chase and deception story. Very predictable - the apparent explosion victim's body is not found - could it be that he wasn't really killed? You figure it out. Is the obvious suspect really not the killer? yfio. Is the hero's beautiful and charming family going to be threatened if he doesn't cooperate? etc etc etc.
