Summary: A Guru Wanna-Be
Review: After some research, I met the author of "First Thunder" and he clearly wrote the book to start his own group and compete with Transcendental Meditation, after they kicked him out.

Any 20 minute meditation will do the same thing - please don't pay anyone [this much]for some "sacred and ancient" snakeoil.

Get REAL enlightenment by reading "Loving What Is" by Byron Katie. She is the real deal. Some other really good books include "I Am That" by Nisargadatta, and "Nothing" by Jim Sloman.

If you want to be a couch potato and enjoy altered states, go ahead and meditate 10 hours a day. But don't try to fool yourself that it makes you "enlightened".

Summary: I was intruiged enough to sign up for a course!
Review: Although this book reads very much like Celestine Prophecy, the difference is that it is based on true events (there is a disclaimer that some facts have been changed to enhance the story line). Although I personally would have prefered a non-fiction medium, it reads well. I hope to take an Ascension course in November!

Summary: The Adventure of Ascension
Review: As a practitioner of Ascension, I can attest to its powerful effects on one's life. MSI was not a great writer, but he was a great teacher. "First Thunder" is a fantasy. The characters begin to follow the path of Ascension and find their lives turned into an adventure. That adventure is an allegory of life lived in accordance with the principles of praise, gratitude, love and compassion - an adventure driven by synchronicity. Ascension is not a religion nor a belief system. MSI created no cult, nor any organization. He lived to pass on the tools of enlightenment known as the Ascension Attitudes. He did not reveal them in his writings, he entrusted them to Ascension teachers. Beginning to walk the path of Ascension can be an ego-shattering, mind-bending experience for some. It is best MSI did not leave us with only books to lead us. During his short life he trained teachers first to protect the integrity of the Attitudes, and then to share them. "First Thunder" is a tantalizing glimpse of lives changed forever by the practice of Ascension.

Summary: Great book for opening your heart more.
Review: Dear Fellow Readers, This book opened the door to my heart just a crack, changing my life forever. Shortly after reading it I took one of the First Sphere Weekend courses to learn the techniques described within it. My heart opened so much during the weekend that I knew I had to help share this teaching with all of humanity. So I became a teacher and dedicated my life to spreading the Ishayas' Teaching throughout the world. It has been a great adventure and a heart warming experience. Please give yourself the opportunity to share in this wonderful epic adventure book. I am sure it will have some effect on you.

Summary: Warning... If You Value Your Time and Money
Review: Granted, each person's spiritual path is uniquely honorable but no matter what your path, this book is a wasted detour. In order to get to any teaching that has even a suggestive hint of substance, you have to bear an amateur writing style that made me wonder how it possibly got by even a novice editor.

As a lifetime student of world religions and spiritual evolution, I felt badly for the meditative practices that were so grossly mangled by this author's exposition. If you are new to spiritual exploration (and like the simpleminded narrative formula of mass-produced paperbacks), you might find some value here. But I say experience this book at your own risk. Look elsewhere if you are seeking something profound and memorable.

Summary: Very dissappointing
Review: I found the story line hard to follow at times. I am a seeker of truth and have been involved with metaphysics for over twenty years. This story may be up-lifting to some but no hands on information that will adance knowledge is available in this book. Book is a pro-mo to hand out cash to take a coarse that really dosen't tell you up front what you will be gitting into.

Summary: Enlightenment comes with a price what are you willing to pay
Review: I read this book with much excitement because I didn't know what I would find and didn't have any expectations. i found this book after reading a book titled The Door of Everything by Ruby Nelson the author talked about acension attitudes and I became curious to learn more. That's when I found the book First Thunder, which is a adventure to bypass the mind and open the heart where the true keys to higher states of awareness begin.Don't let fear convince you of what your heart knows to be true. Although the story is part fictional the teachings are not. I soon attended a first sphere weekend and I learned the first four ascension attitudes and experienced some of the things the characters of the book discribed and I have continued to ascend 20 mins twice a day for almost a year now and have had many exciting things happen in my life since finding the Ishayas teachings. Risk the fear of being foolish and get to a first sphere weekend..

Summary: Think Carefully
Review: I suspect Ascending is essentially a reworking of old Buddhist techniques. I suspect the premises are very valid but remin disappointed and let down by the book. How would I know!? The book certainly doesn't give you anything concrete to go on. Come on! We aren't even worthy to know the first technique? I remain highly sceptical of anything where I have to go somewhere, find someone, pay something, and who knows what else. I would rather walk my own path.

Summary: I wrote my first online review in 1997...
Review: I wrote my first online review of this book in November of 1997, soon after I learned to Ascend and 5 years later I am still Ascending and am a totally different person as a result. 5 years ago it seemed like only a dream to be free from stress and to live each moment in the magic of the NOW, and this book represented just another tease of what I knew in my heart to be true, but could never access on my own. Without the tools of Ascension, I am not even sure if I would be alive right now as my search for God was almost unbearable at times due to the deep yearning in my heart that wanted to be filled with the light of Truth. Before and after learning to Ascend, I continued to seek Truth in this practice and it has never failed me and I've grown incredibly. The concept of loving myself was a nice concept, but is the reality of my being Now in my everyday living experience. If this books falls into your lap, like it did mine, pick it up and read it and discover for yourself the magic of living, loving, and being Real!
