Summary: Echos of magic
Review: This book struck a chord deep in my own heart, mainly because of the powerful (and almost magical) way the author tells the tale of his life from early childhood, through bitter years of loss and terrifying assignments for Interpol, until the time God sneaks up on him in adulthood. Bannon has a way with words that, even though he is simply retelling parts of his life, often with heartbreaking openness, capture the imagination and somehow stir deep longings within the soul. We see the face of evil and share the glory of good. This book is for anyone who is on the pilgrimage with God.

Summary: A book that keeps you glued to the pages
Review: This is a book that takes its time to set up a good character base and then hits you with a not stop second half where you are compelled to carry on reading. A true story that could not be put down.

Summary: How Race coped after his loved ones died.
Review: This book tells the true story of David Race Bannon who watched his fiancee brutally murdered in Marseille, France by North Korean terrorists. Many of his beloved colleagues in Interpol died in the line of duty and another dear friend was kidnapped by a serial killer. The book has been skillfully written and tells of how he coped with living his life during and after such tragic events. The story takes you through many emotions and reduced me to tears both with sadness and joy. I have just reached the end of the book and feel that I want to know more of how he is coping twenty years on.

Summary: does the author of this cartoon-like fantasy ever explain...
Review: ...how it is is that he shares the name of a cartoon fantasy character from the 1960s tv show Johnny Quest? A lot of this book
comes across as just plain preposterous. I think this man's imagination is on a par of that other remarkably self-aggrandizing orientophile fantasist, Steven Seagal, albeit with a calculated dose of humility and phony soul-searching thrown in to "keep it real". The reality of the horror of child slavery deserves a more serious forum than it gets from the macho theatrics of this book. For something closer to the truth, read the 1/25/04 New York Times Magazine article by Peter Landesman...

Summary: Tour de force
Review: A work of deep humanity and insight, Race Against Evil is an extraordinary tour de force, though not for the faint-hearted. It is an important but deeply disturbing book that offers a terrifying, unflinching look at an organization of shame and glory: Interpol. Bannon's startlingly humble revelations are bold and chilling as they reveal a simple truth: men and women derive pleasure from officially sanctioned killing. The implications of Bannon's memoir are profound - we are forced to understand the intelligence officer as human rather than monster, victim and abuser. Intensely arresting and thought-provoking. Summary: race against evil
Review: This book was so riveting that i started reading and couldn't put it down.........this is very rare for me as i'm not an avid reader of true crime but i most certanly am now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Interesting read
Review: This book is very easy to read. It is written as a series of cases from across the world all with their own little twist. Each case seems worthy of a book in its own right. The information given on specific methods of Interpol are easy to understand, so is suitable for those without a criminology mind. As a criminologist the book is not detailed enough, but I found it interesting. It always surprises me what a person would do to another human being whether intentional or accidental. A fascinating and easy read.

Summary: 16 yrs among child molesters...I couldn't do it...!
Review: I loved it. What guts to go undercover with child pornographers for 16 yrs. Every detail is important to Race, every move he makes and every person he comes in contact with, could make him or break him. I infact became quite attached to Margaret and Enmi, I don't know how Race carried on playing the game of chance. To tell you the truth, I found what he put his family though for 16 years really quite stupid...in this case his work came before his wife and the growing up of his child...a part from this, I couldn't put the book down and I wanted to know more about the reaction of Jacques.. Well done..excellent read.

Summary: David Bannon pulls off an epic challenge
Review: We think that in this age of communication we can no longer be surprised by the depravity of human nature. However, this horror story of child slavery had me asking myself how God could allow such grotesque depravity.

David Bannon does an exceptionally good job in the way he structures the telling of the story. Had this not been the case, it would have been extremely difficult to follow the dynamics of Interpol leading up to the climax of this incredible tragedy. Though every crime imaginable, including incest, rape, and murder are committed within these pages, Dr. Bannon treats the victims with great understanding and sympathy.

I certainly would recommend Dr. Bannon and will myself be looking out for more titles by this author.

Summary: extremely riveting but very sad
Review: I read this book when it was first published in February this year. I still have the book and have re-read it quite a few times. It always makes me cry. It is a tragic story of a very brave young man who puts his own life on the line to save others, then courageously testifies against the organization that molded him. Full marks to Race Bannon for a fantastic book that is well written and a real tear-jerker.
