Rating: Summary: Can literally help save your life! Review: In today's world of hackers, stalkers, voyeurs, or just plain nosy people, privacy is of the utmost concern. It can literally mean being the target of a crime (such as identity theft or worse) or luckily being overlooked and out of reach of criminals. This book teaches simple, yet effective ways to protect yourself by being "invisible".This book teaches how to do everything from just having your mail sent to different address to almost creating a whole new identity. Most people would only need minimal privacy enhancement to help them sleep at night, and this book accommodates that person. Surprisingly, though, it also accommodates the person looking to being as close to invisible as possible! Overall, this book is a fast read that is sectioned off well. You do not need to read every chapter in this book, but can simply skip to each chapter that pertains to you. Most of all, it has the simple step-by-step methods that almost anyone can employ and help keep their personal welfare a little more secure.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, But Limited Use. Check his website for updates. Review: Luna has written an excellent book and I highly recommend it. However, the information presented is quite limited on location. I live in California, and all of the stuff about using a private MBE address on my driver's license is useless. Also, there's this obsessive focus on limited liability companies (LLC's), when this route is rather expensive.
If you're running from the law, have a stalker to get away from, or want to finally get rid of your ex-husband or creditors, then this book is right for you. It will give you privacy that surpasses even the FBI's witness protection programs (which are actually by another name).
However, if you live in an area that's suffered from the heightended effects of post-9/11 security enhancements and government paranoia, you might find some of the details a bit difficult to implement or out-dated.
If anything, this is a reference book and not a how-to for "step-by-step". It gets you into the mindset of how to guard your privacy, why you should not give out your address, phone number, or even middle name lightly, and how choosing to be lax can often be deadly for even the least profile of people. Buy it for your family and always keep a copy by your bedside.
Some will say that this book is only for the paranoid, but I say better paranoid and safe than dead and sorry.
Rating: Summary: A Primer for Understanding Your Privacy & How to Protect It! Review: Mr. Luna has written an excellent book that provides the reader with an overview of what privacy is, understanding privacy in our day and age, efforts to undermine our privacy, and countermeasures to safeguard our privacy. This book is a treatise on steps to LEGALLY protect your privacy that will make it very difficult, very time consuming, and very expensive for another person, organization, or entity to track and/or find you. His advice is grounded in common sense, stands the test of logic, and compares with "the advice of Solomon".
Mr. Luna provides a value-added service with his website, providing answers to readers' questions and dispensing relevant and timely tidbits. His obvious expertise in the subject matter, stemming from his vast experience in this arena, will assist you in protecting yourself, and your loved ones, from the paranoia and evil of this age. His advice can literally make the difference between life-and-death in several situations.
I highly recommend this book to students of all ages.
