Rating: Summary: Buy This Book! Review: Wow! Michael's done it again! This book hits the nail on the head or maybe prunes the Bush would be a better phrase. As usual, Michael has done his homework, researched and re-researched to bring us reporting worth reading. Whether you're right of, left of or dead center, this is a must-read book if you're at all concerned, truly concerned about our country and its future. If you're a shallow flag-waving jingoist, this isn't for you but if you're a thinking, sensitive concerned American citizen (one who votes-or intends to)this is a must-read. Keep it up Michael, we need guys like you! Gib Miller Florida State of the Disenfranchised Voter
Rating: Summary: Superb! Mike hits the bullseye once again. Review: Just finished his new book and it was right on the mark. I have to hand it to Mike, he doesn't pull any punches. I'm a Republican who didn't vote for Bush and even I have to admit that Mr. Moore has guts to stand up to the PC crowd who try to shout down anyone who disagrees with the Bush/Cheney disastrous economic policies. Hooray for free speech!
Rating: Summary: Much Needed for America Review: Stupid White Men by Michael Moore is a book that was much needed by the American public, especially in the times that we live in today. As Michael Moore puts it, "We live in a time when California can't find enough electricity to operate its juicers, or execute its inmates. It's cheaper to FedEx yourself across down than to drive there. The NASDAQ is as safe a bet as a backroom craps game in Reno! The world is unraveling faster than a Firestone tire!" Michael Moore provides a much needed alternative to the steady, "let's-line-up-behind-the-President" drumbeat of today's commentators.
The information that Michael Moore puts out in Stupid White Men is deeply researched. We find out stuff like Secretary of Treasury Paul O'Neill had been CEO of Alcoa, the world's largest aluminum manufactors (and one of the biggest polluters in Texas) or that Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham has opposed research in renewable energies and that he receives $700,000 in contributions by the automotive industry maybe as a thank you for voting against raising fuel efficiency requirements for SUVs and that Secretary of Health Tommy Thompson has $50,000 in Philip Moris stock. When Michael Moore makes such statements he does not lack in backing up his opinions.
One of the major themes that Michael Moore works into his text is that the only people that can take back control of your nation and your life is...you! You are the only person that can actually take back control of your life, you have the power and you must use it. Moore gives great ideas on how to get involved into the community, make your voice be heard and have fun while you're at it too.
Michael Moore's writing proves to America that he is only a concerned American. Moore is concerned about many issues that have been plaguing our country for years. One issue that Moore feels strongly about in Stupid White Men is the environment. Stupid White Men talks about the hardships that America will face if we don't change some unhealthy environmental habits. The information is shocking "The last Ice Age was the result of global temperature change of 9 degrees. Right now, we're halfway there. Some experts are predicting a rise in temperature of 10.4 degrees just in the next century. A melting of the polar ice caps could cause the oceans to rise by up to 30 feet, in effect wiping out every coastal city their is and taking out the entire state of Florida (voting booths and all)." This well written about topic will change anybody's opinion about the direction we are going in.
Stupid White Men by Michael Moore has been one of the most entertaining books that I have read in a very long time. Not only has it been entertaining but also instructive and interesting. No other book of its kind is like it. Stupid White Men will entertain any reader and will definitely give a reader something to think about as they go through their day. The blended in comedy is a perfect combination to entertain, instruct and interest any reader no matter what age or status. Stupid White Men has changed and affected my daily life. I now have a greater appreciation for my rights and freedoms and I am now more aware of the good and bad things that my country and its politicians do. But overall, Stupid White Men is a positive and highly recommended book for any age group.
Rating: Summary: MORE GARBAGE FROM A DISCREDITED LARDASS Review: The Harry Potter books has more truth to it than any of Michael Bore's books. He titled his book Stupid White Men. What a sellout. If he titled it Stupid Black Men, then I'd be impressed.
Rating: Summary: Occasionally funny, occasionally makes sense, MOSTLY LIES!!! Review: I am mostly for Bush, I believe him to be patriotic and a good leader. So what if he's not eloquent or highly intellectual? I did have questions as to how he became actual President. At the time I remember feeling almost ashamed to support him, which is never a good thing. But I've forgotten that now, until I read Stupid White Men. Moore goes into great detail and really shows just how passionate he is that Bush cheated. He talks about how Bush stopped Black or Jewish people in Florida from voting, calling them felons. What he craftily misses is that 13 OTHER STATES stopped Black felons from voting, or that a projected five thousand votes would have been counted for Gore illegally. The chapter named Dear George is Moore's attempt to make people laugh and say 'ah...what the hell, he's funny, I'll believe anything he says' Moore simply takes the piss out of Bush, 'Can you actually read and write at an adult level?' Hahahah, MANY F***ING LAUGHS. Anyone can take the piss out of anyone; it doesn't make Moore special or correct. Hell, I can even do it, and I'm not earning millions by writing books - Moore, can you actually look less like a paedophile? Do you have to wear that horribly sad anorak? You have a big nose! You have no life! Blah blah blah. It can be done EASILY. Moore is not being clever, he is being silly and childish. Moore continues in the same style, making some good points (there are things I dislike, or have questions about Bush), but then he fails to give the other side of the argument. Ok, he is often funny and witty, but you can't simply slag everything off for small reasons, usually overpowered by a counter argument. More examples are when he talks about the stock market and how it is going down due to the rich White men. Mmm...I wonder if he ACTUALLY RESEARCHED THAT FACT. He also uses his own personal problems to attack Bush, he goes on about how Bush was once accused of drink driving twenty odd years ago. Well, so have many people. But then we find the reason why he's got so much angst for this subject, he was actually hit by a drunk driver years ago. He lacks any self control and simply explodes with anger, mostly directed at Bush, as he's the easy target. There is no intelligent argument, just anger. It's like saying I hate Henry Ford because a f***ing Ford car hit me. No basis for ACTUAL ARGUMENT, he simply looses control. Then, we get Kill Whitey. I'm sorry, but I fail to find this amusing, unless you're Black and ACTUALLY DID get accused of a crime which you didn't do, IT IS NOT F***ING FUNNY. I know in today's society there is racism, I know that you hear a lot of 'Black male suspected of murder...' on the news, I know most of it is bulls**t from White men in high places. THAT DOESN'T MEAN ALL WHITE PEOPLE ARE EVIL!!! I couldn't help laughing when Moore says 'I get scared when a White person walks past me' I mean...SERIOUSLY? So if I was to walk harmlessly past you, minding my own business, you would be S***ING YOURSELF!!! Maybe if I looked suspicious, like holding a double-barrelled shotgun. The whole chapter was taking a massive dig at the idiosyncratic White CEO, with absolutely no regard for the millions of other White men, who aren't racist. THERE IS SUCH A THING IDIOT!! Moore, on a whole, hits the spot occasionally, I MEAN OCCASIONALLY. But then he just goes off and rambles about fabricated lies. He takes digs at everything, absolutely everything except himself. He is not perfect, neither is bush, neither am I, neither are you that's reading this. Anyone can take the piss, Moore is not special.
Rating: Summary: Thief-in-Chief Review: Throughout the book, Moore makes his point clear about how all these white men just benefit themselves from these positions they get. Best known as Thief-in-Chief because there is a several of them that really did not even win the elections, yes this means Bush. Basically, Bush used his fathers powers to do whatever he wanted because he knew he would get it. He got the position and now he uses it to hide the bad he has committed, just so he can be known as a perfect person. This is a great book where one will learn from these so called IMPORTANT PEOPLE
Rating: Summary: Misguided!!! Review: What a waste of time and money! Doesn't he know they kill trees to print his garbage on!
Rating: Summary: A very illuminating book Review: I finished this book yesterday. I listened to the unabridged CD read by Arte Johnson who gives a perfect presentation. At the beginning, I was depressed to learn how Bush stole the election in Florida. I had not realized the theft had been on so many different levels. The book gives more details that I had been unaware of, of the incompetence, ignorance and hubris of this administration. Mr. Moore does not ignore the greed and faults of the major corporations, either. What really opened my eyes was the criticism of Democrats who are really Republicans in sheep's clothing. I now understand why Ralph Nader runs and why Michael Moore supported his campaign. The author does his research, has a wicked sense of humor and gives a perspective of this country that is sobering and makes the reader want to do something to bring about change -- of both parties. I highly recommend this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Lies Review: This book is just 100% of fabricated, staged facts used to provoke peoples diluted brains into believing the fool that is Moore. Stupid demonctratic piece of junk. What is America coming to?
Rating: Summary: Great Title Review: The title refers to people who actually bought this book.
