Rating: Summary: The Horror of the Pod People Review: ... and so the Pod People marched, believing that they had won the war on "terra" by capturing Saddam Hussein, who they thought was responsible for the September 11 attacks. And in November, the Pod People re-elected their leader. Some of the brighter ones were concerned about the historic deficits, no WMDs (Doh!), tax breaks that blatantly benefit the wealthy, 2.5 million jobs lost (the most since the Great Depression), sharp reduction in wages, close ties to corrupt corporations like Enron (wink to "Kenny Boy"), an AWOL commander-n-chief, easement of pollution controls like arsenic levels in their water supply, draconian cuts to needed social services while plotting flights back to mars, their home planet, and - well, the fact that their leader seemed about as sharp as a Dick Cheney's head. But Karl Rove told them what to think - and so they marched to the polls to re-elect Prince Dubya - heir to the Bush empire, none the less. Many earthlings tried to fight the Pod People. They armed themselves with books like this to better understand these extremely strange beings - but it was too late. Karl Rove and Scott McCleland created an army of tremendously loud and annoying androids - (known as "Hannities") who used a communications device they called, "Fox News", to assure their deranged minions that the three G's (God, guns, gays) take precedence over trifles like acute fiscal malfeasance, employment, their planet's environment, and waging a costly, brutal "preemptive war", which pre-empted nothing but a few vapid reality TV shows. So the beginning of the end occured for this once great civilization in November 2004. The Pod People had "won".
Rating: Summary: The subtitle says it all, folks. Review: Ah, the GOP. Masters of lying and dirty campaigning. Puppets of big business. Enemies of the US Constitution and the middle and lower classes. Evangelicals with a murderous, quasi-fascist theocratic agenda. Draftdodging chickenhawks who like to slaughter our soldiers for Halliburton. Stealers of elections. Infantile, sanctimonious pseudo-patriots. What's not to love about these guys? Today we live in a one-party state, enmeshed in deceit, treason, and cronyism, and their lies and scheming get worse by the hour. This book makes for an invigorating reminder of the disaster that is the Republican Party, and also the disaster that is "President" George W. Bush. Everyone should read it and keep it in mind this November, when the Democrats will prevail--despite the best efforts of the Republicans to steal the election.

Rating: Summary: Hate is to soft Review: At a time in America that we are ruled by a Dictator, hate is a mild word. I was an ordained minister and after seeing how religion was being used by conservatives to reach the elitist level of my god is better than your god I let religion it go. We cannot hate people and still teach of love. I fear that the left and the right will clash at some point. This book is a warning that we need to reach a middle ground as I no longer think God is going to save us. If there is a God he could not join either party. We are a house divided. I also fear it is too late to change. I wish I still believed the God thing so I could pretend there was hope. I do hate all religious extremist and I avoid them all.
Rating: Summary: Great!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Clint Willis has lined up a group of hard hitters destined to ensure that Bush 2's Crimes Against America will not be ignored! My only complaint is that this book just doesn't go far enough!!! For example, we all know Bush is the epitome of evil, but has anyone fully discussed his dismememberment of a prosperous and legal Iraqi government? What about his involvement in making sure all the Jews were evacuated from the WTC? How about his funding of Israeli death squads against innocent and peaceful Palestinian social clubs? What about his plans to change the constitution to run for a murderous 3rd term? And of course, what about the links we all know correlate him to the Anti-Christ? Geez, isn't this common sense to voters by now? I am glad to see that Michael Moore's early 80's flirtation with the American Communist Party has not dulled that man's love of his country. His essay is both provocative, and AMAZINGLY correct in every MINUTE, CONSPIRATORIAL DETAIL! That being said, as a "moderate" Democrat, I found this book a pure delight. Get it and share with all your friends who don't know of the TRUE vast right-wing, oil-grubbing, mind-washing, baby-killing (out of utero, of course) conspiracy. Vote Kerry!
Rating: Summary: What a bunch of half-true, mind-numbing hysteria ... Review: Don't you get it? Don't waste your time reading this tripe ... Mr. Willis discredits anything worthy he would share with the title of his book. I thought 'conservatives', i.e. Republicans were the 'hate mongers'. Read something by George Will or Larry Elder instead.
Rating: Summary: I'm a liberal who absolutely hates this book title Review: First, I am very, very far to the left, far further to the left than any leading Democrat, further to the left than Ralph Nader. My beliefs are broadly socialist, and I wish that some of the European parties were active here. I support Democrats for the same reason that Socialist Michael Harrington became a Democrat near the end of his life: the Democratic party supports at least a few good causes, while the GOP supports virtually none. Second, I agree completely with the subtitle of the book. I do ardently believe the GOP is wrong on nearly every issue it touches. It really, truly has become the party of an economic elite, and does a great deal to harm everyday Americans. But despite all this, there is absolutely no excuse for a title like this. The title absolutely shames me as a liberal and as a de facto Democrat. If the title had merely restricted itself to George W. Bush, I would not have had any problems with it. But I had the blanket quality of the title. I don't hate all Republicans, and I think we as a nation need to be talking a whole lot less about hate and a good deal more about understanding one another. We live today in a profoundly divided nation. In my lifetime I have never seen people so entrenched in their positions, and so many holding positions so dramatically opposed to that of those with whom they disagree. I agree that the GOP is currently engaged in class warfare (several GOP pollsters have noted that if a Democrat really wanted to win the presidency, he or she would only have to call attention to the phenomenal manner in which the top 1% of the people of the US have prospered under Reagan and Bush, while the poor and the middle classes, i.e., most American citizens, have suffered), and that we need to point out their errors whenever and however we can. But I am ashamed of anyone who would use language like this to espouse their cause.
Rating: Summary: oh, those silly Repugnicans! Review: Funny, neo-cons love to bash the books that bash them, but they never actually refute what the books say - they just condemn the character of the writers. Start listening to the message, instead of killing the messenger. Until then, live by the words of that great philosopher king, Bill "Oh, really?!", and "Shut up, pinhead!!"
Rating: Summary: Idiot Review: How can you just say you hate republicans and expect to get your point across?
Rating: Summary: Idiot Review: I almost feel a slight bit embarrassed to review this book given that it is proof I have dug into the very partisan grab bag of hate books. My only excuse is that I was at an airport during a late night connecting flight lay over and had finished the book I brought. I figured this book would provide me enough humor and outrage to keep me up the remaining hours of my trip. First off the title of the book is all wrong, the book focused about 80% of the time on the current Bush Administration. The other 20% was throw in filler from past years going all the way back to Reagan. It is really just one more book that is after Bush Jr. and I assume that putting his name in the title in place of Republican might have been too much. Sure the book was interesting, but the through-ins from past administrations tended to slow down the rhythm and flow of the book. The book is divided into chapters with about 2 - 3 columns or book chapters from different progressive or liberal authors. For the most part the editor did a good job of arranging the sections. As I said the book is heavily weighted to the current Bush team and the different issues that have outraged the left leaning of us. All the favorites are here, the rolling back of environmental laws, the tax cuts for the wealthy, and the war in Iraq etc. As I tend to read a lot of progressive publications and books I found many of the sections of the book to be repeats of items I have already read. This was a disappointment for me, but if you are just dabbing your foot into this type of reading then it will be new and probably enjoyable. I just felt that the editors probably could have not included the pre Bush Jr. items and still had an entertaining book. Overall I would say that this is an above average book for someone looking to feed his or her all ready strong negative perceptions and thoughts about the GOP. This editor did not go out of his way to try and present balanced articles about this issue and there are no "fair and balanced" rebuttal pieces to be found within miles of the book. The book is for the hard core Democratic base and is basically a response to the Coulter's and Hannity's of the publishing world. If you are looking for nothing more the an anti Bush Jr. book then this is just as good as any compilation book out there. It falls a bit short if you want more then just rhetoric and want to dig into the issues.
