Rating: Summary: W = Integrity Review: I believe that when we look back at this time in our history it will be very similar to the way that we look back at the Reagan years. George W is the right man at the right time. Finally someone in politics that stands up and makes a stand, in my opinion the correct stand, and doesn't waiver. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies he is a great leader and an excellent role model. Orwellian he is not, 2+2=4 in this administration, Room 101 doesn't exist and O'brien and Big Brother are no where to be found. Do some research before you condemn a presidency... This book is one of the most insightful Bush books I've read.
Rating: Summary: I cannot tell you how much I loved this book! Review: I cannot tell you how much I loved this book and urge you to buy it. I am a lifelong Republican and activist. My party stands for those who are successful, Christian minded, and controlling those who want to hurt American business. This is a great book, but you should also look at all of Anne Coulter's books. She is the leading spokeswoman for the Republican party because she knows and speaks our truth. Quotes from her: • "I think women should be armed but should not be allowed to vote...women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it. It's always the liberal atheists who want more money for education, more money on child care, more money on day care."-- Politically Incorrect, 2/26/01 • "...a cruise missile is more important than Head Start."-- Speech, 11/01, rebroadcast by C-Span in Jan. 2002 • "Soldiers are just cowards with their backs against the wall. The lowest IQ men in our society, those incapable of normal careers enlist. Their choice in life; prison or the military. Some will have to die in the support of our cause."-- Intervention Magazine, 11/06/03 • "We hate them. Americans don't want to make Islamic fanatics love us. We want to make them die. There's nothing like horrendous physical pain to quell anger. A couple of well-aimed nuclear weapons will get our opposition out of the way."-- Column, 9/25/02 • "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."-- Column, 9/13/01 • "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."-- Speech to Conservative Political Action Conference, January 2002 • "The only beef Enron employees have with top management is that management did not inform employees of the collapse in time to allow them to get in on the swindle."-- Column, 1/24/02 • "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building and blow them up."-- New York Observer interview, 8/20/02 • "Then there are the 39 million greedy geezers collecting Social Security. The greatest generation rewarded itself...we should take that money and use it for more tax breaks."-- WorldNetDaily, 12/10/03 • "God help us if the Democrats ever waver on its major planks: tax breaks for the poor and lower middle class, women's rights, and no prayer in schools. (We could save a step by figuring out how to automatically abort all future non-Christians."-- WorldNetDaily, 12/10/03 • "My hero is the Ex-House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, GOP presidential prospect, and architect of the Republican Party's failed impeachment of President Clinton. We only failed because Newt was having an affair. Who could blame Newt? His wife went and got sick with cancer. That was completely different from Clinton. Unlike Clinton, Newt was smart enough to divorce his wife after she got sick and could no longer drag him down with her. Lastly for the negative reviewers; how dare you stumblingly expose your miscreant incompetence with rantings against the Patriot Act. In my mind Americans have too many Constitutional rights. The Bill of Rights should not even apply to the blue-collar middle classes who are too stupid to get involved. No Bush hating media or newspapers should have 'freedom of the press,' since they only have their rights and freedoms because the rich allow them to have them. Ever see some poor slob or middle class idiot who owned a newspaper company? You defamatory libelous, uneducated swine should keep your comments to yourselves or we'll send your job overseas. Repent, give up your liberal sinning ways, burn liberal books, pray to President Bush, he's our savior now. God has sent him to rule us. I'll pray everyone who rates this book negative will burn in hell!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Defense of a Brilliant President Review: Sammon has delivered an incredible inside look at the Bush Presidency. Finally, the truth is revealed as we hear directly from Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld that America's primary objective is to secure control of the vast oil deposits of the Middle East and Central Asia. (Of course this has been obvious all along, but it's good to hear it directly.) We are told that the worst thing to happen in recent memory was not 9/11, but the collapse of the Soviet Union -- how will the U.S. justify its global Empire without a big, bad enemy? 9/11 provided the solution to this problem, and now we have Islam! Islam Equals Terrorism is our new Crusade Against Evil. On the basis of this Convenient Demon we can invade and occupy everything between the Mediterranean and India! With the most clever Big Lie since Goebbels, we will carry out this power grab under the banner of Freedom and Liberty for All. Thank goodness for far-sighted, visionary leaders. We must not allow those who masquerade as sensible to prevail -- if you say this strategy creates more enemies than we can defeat, then you are Against Freedom. If you say that Christians and Muslims can and should learn to respect one another, to love one another, (who was it that said "love your enemies?"), then you must hate America. If you say that it would make far more sense to launch a crash program for solar and renewable energy than fight endless wars for Oil, then clearly you must be a member of Al-Qaeda. God Bless America, and God Bless George W. Bush!
Rating: Summary: Towel off with this book Review: If you feel like you've been bathing in dirty water for the past couple of years, as media reports have inundated America with condemnation of the Iraqi war and hatred for President Bush, you'll want to buy this book to find out precisely why you were right to feel that way. Bill Sammon has taken it upon himself to drain the tub and show us the filthy ring left behind by scores of false and malicious reports from his fellow journalists. Sammon's skewering of Dan Rather, among other leftist toadies, is especially lively and compelling. At the end of this book, you'll feel clean again. But watch out - the tub is refilling.
Rating: Summary: A revelation to the open minded Review: As a conservative professional musician, I am often in the minority with my colleagues, who are distinctly left leaning liberal. As much as I disagree with my friends, I have no disrespect for their beliefs, as I tend to assume they are as honestly heart felt as mine, based on truth as they know it. 'Misunderestimated' reveals how the truth as they know it is not the truth. All the way through this book I wanted to buy as many copies as I could afford to send to my friends that at least have an open enough mind to respect me as I do them. It had become apparent to me before I read this book that there is a LOT of mischaracterization, misrepresentation, and out and out hatred regarding the current administration and its policies in the media. But the reality presented by this white house press insider is even more appalling. At the same time, the character that I saw in Bush in the beginning, but doubted as the onslaught on him rages, was proved to be true. This is a man who is different, with convictions, with a keen awareness of his duty as leader of this country, who completely stumps those who oppose them BECAUSE he is who he is. If there is not an out and out media bias against Bush, the only other fair conclusion is they evidently do not have a grid for understanding this President, and so flail away in what templates they have, tragically missing the opportunitiy to report truthfully on the emergence of this new leader as he succeeds while shaking the status quo. And so I say, if you do have an open mind, if you do honestly seek the truth, this book is it. In fact the story of Bush's Thanksgiving visit to the troops in Bagdhad is worth the price of the book. Anyone that can read this book and still claim hatred for Bush deserves the media deception they are fed. Read with an open mind. I dare you.
Rating: Summary: AN EXCELLENT PROFILE OF A GREAT LEADER Review: I doubt many of the reflex Bush-haters who posted all the negative reviews below have actually read this fine book. Leadership is never easy, especially in war time, but George W. has done a brilliant courageous job under difficult circumstances. We are lucky to have him now, and I hope we don't shoot ourselves in the foot this November by replacing him.
Rating: Summary: It Might Not Be ¿1984¿, but it SMELLS LIKE IT. Review: Sammon brushes over Bush's campaign money. The Bush Attack Machine started to define John Kerry as "a captive of special interests". Then it came out that Bush had received more campaign contributions from Enron alone, than Kerry had received from lobbyists during all his years in the Senate; so the attack moved on to Plan B- defining Kerry as a flip-flopper and Bush as "steady and steadfast" Sammon knows that anyone who has been in the Senate for eighteen years will have a voting record that can be distorted to look bad. If a Senator voted against a bloated spending-bill that contained funding for breast cancer research, they can claim that Senator is against breast cancer research. Ask John McCain-Bush pulled that one on him in the 2000 primary which Sammon ignores. • When Bush first took office, he said the economy was so good we should have huge tax cuts, but now he claims we were in a recession then and that is why we now have record deficits. • Candidate Bush was very vocal in his criticism of nation building, but now President Bush is busy building nations in Afghanistan and Iraq. These nations are being built with our soldier's lives and our tax dollars. More Iraqis hate us than they did Saddam. • Bush claimed his budget plan would reduce the National Debt. Instead, the federal debt has increased to almost $7 trillion. • Candidate Bush promised to protect the Social Security trust fund, but President Bush has already squandered more than $350 billion from the fund. (Consortium News, 3/2/04) • Bush said he would, "enforce fiscal discipline on Congress, because when spending is out of control, deficits increase and our economic growth is hindered...", but federal spending has increased 23.7 percent since he took office. (Bill Gallagher, Friends of Liberty, 12/11/03) • Candidate Bush proposed regulating carbon dioxide, but two months after taking office, President Bush changed his mind. • Bush opposed a Homeland Security Department when it was proposed by Democrats; but later embraced the idea and took credit for it. • Bush opposed an investigation of the attacks of 9/11-then he supported it, but his administration has done everything it could to obstruct the investigation. • Bush opposed an Iraq WMD investigation, but then he's for it because he has to pretend he's interested in why he was so wrong about Iraq's WMD. • During an unsuccessful run for Congress in 1978, Bush opposed the pro-life amendment and favored leaving the abortion question to a woman and her doctor. Then, like his father before him, he customized his beliefs to become more electable to conservatives. (The Nation, 6/15/00) • Bush promised money for first responders, but failed to provide the funds. • Bush presented his "No Child Left Behind Program" with great fanfare, but failed to provide the funds. • Bush continues to praise American troops, but continues to try to cut benefits for them and their families. He has attended ZERO funerals of soldiers unlike all other Presidents. • Bush said, "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden", but changed it to, "I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care." To understand why steady and steadfast Bush would change his mind about so many important issues, you must understand the problem he faces every day. He has to somehow fool enough voters to be reelected, without actually doing anything for them or straying too far from the NeoCon's agenda. So, if a majority of voters want something-like clean air, Bush is for it. He won't follow through, or he won't fund it properly, or he will do the exact opposite of what he promised; but he will continue to be for it. If a majority of voters oppose something; then Bush will oppose it too, but he will go right ahead and do it anyway-while speaking against it. Sammon is kissing ass big time now! I'm sure he'll get favored reporter status. Oh? He has it already. That's right he wrote a book about Gore trying to steal the election, discounting my vote and the "MAJORITY" of voters who voted for Gore. Oh well, like I said, reading this is like reading "1984."
Rating: Summary: Just pathetic. Review: Sammon is Senior White House Correspondent for the Washington Times and a political analyst (Bush PR Spokesman) for Fox News Channel and has ALWAYS been a rabid ultra-conservatist. Even if Hitler were the President and a Republican he would have written the same lame diatribe and nonsensical hooey. I mean, who the hell reads this stuff, rich wives of corporate CEOs who are robbing us blind, or white racists? What could be his motivation? Sammon spent a couple of years in the late 80s as a "Spokesman" for a billion-dollar utility. Duh, a 'spokesman' for a polluter, who had unbridled rights to raise rates and profits on any flimsy excuse. Well done Bill. Bill Sammon isn't a journalist, he's made a career out of being a PR Spokesman for the rich and ultra-conservatives. Duh! How willing is Sammon to gimmick up stories? His work is at times, just pathetic. Read his account of a one-word slip Gore made at a mental health forum. (We're not kidding you, folks. This was a news story.) According to Sammon, Tipper Gore had jokingly told the VP where to sit at the confab: SAMMON: [Gore] said that while he would follow his wife's advice, it was "departing from my destructions." Quickly recognizing the mini-gaffe, he hastened to add: "My instructions." Hmmm. Let's see if we have this story straight. A person makes a one-word mistake-then he corrects his error. Intriguing! SAMMON (continuing): The flub seemed to epitomize Gore's image problem. When he sticks too closely to his script, he is accused of being boring. When Gore quips and ad-libs, he sometimes errs, and he became the object of ridicule, for his now-legendary claim to have invented the Internet. Or course when country home-boy Dubya quips, mispronounces simple words, flubs press briefings, stares blankly into the lens with a retarded look on his face, every neocon chicken-hawk like Sammon applauds the great statesman. In 1998, Bill was turned loose on the Monica Lewinsky scandal. By September he was named senior White House correspondent. Oh how many 'reputable' conservative careers were bolstered by one cigar. Sammon, while at the job never once mentioned that the Republican hero and 'Speaker of the House,' Newt Gingrich was simultaneously having an affair with a young aid, all the while screaming from the roof tops to impeach Bill Clinton. Nor did he write narry a word about Newt serving his wife with divorce papers while she was dying of cancer in the hospital. Sammon = NO CREDIBILITY! When you have such an utter lack of 'misunderstanding' about human nature, as Sammon and the neo-cons, you tend to want to destroy what you do not understand. Hence the wars, hence the bitter invective, hence the rabid jingoism of men like Sammon who have absolutely no desire to make the world anything else but a breeding ground for rich, privileged men. Another chicken-hawk warrior who avoided the military. Figures.... Hundreds of new laws were passed after 9/11 for states to enforce; yet funds are yet to be forthcoming from Washington. Funds for Airport security, State security, Border security, Fire & Police requirements, and tracking aliens have been minimally funded. It is estimated that state taxes will have to be increased at least 15% if Bush's plan to relax immigration from our southern border are passed. Gotta keep those corporate profits up. Manufacturing jobs have declined for 28 months in a row, the so-called 'new jobs' created by this administration are lower paying jobs with less benefits. "This hardship is concentrated in certain regions and in certain industries," said Bush during his speech. "You know what I'm talking about here in the Midwest. You're showing signs of recovery here, yet many people here and across this country are still looking for work." For every job created during the last three years, 1.2 jobs are lost to overseas manufacturing or outsourcing, which the administration seems unable to address. Gotta keep those corporate profits up. - "It's amazing I won. I was running against peace, prosperity, and incumbency." - George W. Bush, June 14, 2001. Speaking to Swedish Prime Minister Goran Perrson. - "They misunderestimated me."-Bentonville, Ark., Nov. 6, 2000. - "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."-Saginaw, Mich., Sept. 29, 2000. - "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"-Florence, S.C., Jan. 11, 2000. * Yeah, vote for Dubya again and I'll give ya ten to one odds who the NEW PRESS SECRETARY for Dubya will be! Hint - his last name is Sammon. Bush says he supports the military, but not one word was written or said by the author about the cuts in soldier's pay and benefits, cuts in combat pay and overseas cost of living, etc., etc. Nor did he mention anything about Bush's massive cuts in the Veterans Administration health care system for disabled American Patriotic soldiers. Of course he avoided the military like his draft dodger idols in the White House, and the conservatives he blindly supports. Even if you believe this nut-case, the book is poorly written and overly-simplistic. Sammon - Washington Times - "President Bush's re-election campaign has kept Sen. John Kerry on the defensive for days by employing an aggressive communications strategy that was largely absent just weeks ago." Duh, look at the polls, Americans are waking up from a long slumber and they are PISSED! (Remember?) DIANE SAWYER: Again, I'm just trying to ask, these are supporters, people who believed in the war who have asked the question. PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, you can keep asking the question and my answer's gonna be the same. Saddam was a danger and the world is better off caus' we got rid of him. DIANE SAWYER: But stated as a hard fact, that there were weapons of mass destruction as opposed to the possibility that he could move to acquire those weapons still - PRESIDENT BUSH: So what's the difference? "SO YOU LOOKED RIGHT INTO THE CAMERAS LAST JANUARY AND YOU LIED TO CONGRESS, AND YOU LIED TO THE SENATE, AND YOU LIED TO AMERICA, AND YOU LIED TO THE WORLD TO RAMROD YOUR WAY INTO AN OIL-RICH COUNTRY, LEAVING MORE THAN 700 AMERICAN SOLDIERS AND THOUSANDS OF IRAQI CITIZENS DEAD. AND YOU'RE SAYING YOU DON'T SEE WHAT DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES?" But, according to Sammon, lying about a private affair (sorta) is worse than invading a country, starting a war, having our brave solders fight a non-winnable false war, and NOT KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE. Don't pray for GW, pray for US! For fun, if you are open minded and looking for those books begging for its pages to be turned...look no further. Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code' is great, As is 'The Truth Behind the Da Vinci Code,' which is a MUST BUY! I just read a copy of Brad Steiger's 'Alien Rapture,' which also blew me away. From a Top Secret Black Program 'insider', whose credibility has been verified over and over. I also really liked Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons.' Want to be shocked, check out Dr. Paul Hill's 'Unconventional Flying Objects' which NASA tried to ban. "God Bless US Everyone!
Rating: Summary: I don't think its very 'pro-Bush' Review: I've read worse books. I'm not certain this guy is really 'pro-Bush'. He doesn't make the President look very good. I think this guy is actually more pro-Pat Robertson and he's just using the books premise to draw in conservative readers. If you read the book pay close attention to how he cloaks a insult as a compliment (starting with the title). At best he paints the President as a man who isn't very smart but knows how to smooze people. He paints Karl Rove as the real brains behind the administration. Whose side is this guy really on?
Rating: Summary: Disappointed with our leaders. Review: I am a sad American - Disappointed with our leaders. While I was writing my review off-line to take advantage of the spell checking, I watched this book go from number 6 to number 27. I actually read the book. Now I wish I'd spent the money on a good steak with onions, mushrooms and a really big scotch. It's hogwash, an illusion, like most politicians. I'm an old fart, retired Texas businessman, conservative, grandfather, and once proud to be a Republican. I even voted for George Bush Jr., thinking that Gore was a better statesman, but George Jr. was closer to understanding the plight of the middle working class. It wasn't the biggest mistake I've ever made, but it troubles me the most. I'm sure a lot of good Americans are reassessing their support for our Misunderstandeded President. Hey class clown, yes; most fun to get drunk with, yes; class bully, yes; but qualified to be President of the Greatest Country in the History of the World? I don't think so. What the hell were we thinking? He doesn't represent us, the middle class, he represents the CEOs, the affluent, the Top 2%, and the lobbyists from big corporations. Time to admit we were wrong. I have a lot of time on my hands to think, think about the Korean War I served in, WWI that three of my 7 uncles served in, and the Vietnam War that my son was disabled in. I, like the vast majority of Americans, believed our government and trusted politicians back then. But, hey we were stupid, we thought being a lawyer was an honorable profession. Even though I was a conservative, I contributed to charity, I did volunteer work, I never judged a man or woman who was down on their luck or those who had made bad life decisions. I always thought; "There but for the Grace of GOD, go I." I lived by the Golden Rule. I even supported 'Affirmative Action' thinking that Jesus would have also. Given my fellow man that had been so horribly oppressed, a hand up. What happened to Christian charity? You can call the President many things, but you CANNOT call him 'compassionate' with a straight face. This book is written by a life long conservative who is an average journalist and big business supporter. It is turned out by a public relations gin mill and not worthy of your money. One of my four children is a rabid conservative. Somewhere I went wrong. I failed to teach him that family, love, compassion, honor, and being your brother's keeper were the reasons we put here by God. I can no longer be silent. This is not a worthy read, nor is it the truth.
