Summary: We ignore this book at our peril
Review: I've just spent an entire night and part of a day rereading and rereading Professor Griffin's thoroughly researched, judiciously argued, and incredibly disturbing book. Griffin takes on the task of investigating the official account of the 9/11 attacks, asking questions that beg to be asked, ferreting out inconsistencies in White House, Pentagon, and State Department reports, analyzing possible scenarios, and asking what kinds of evidence would properly address unanswered questions.

Griffin invites the reader to examine two possible explanations to account for the inconsistencies: the "incompetence" theory and the "complicity" theory. The former rests on the assumption that stupid mistakes were made both before and after the attack. The latter rests on the assumption that false official accounts were made about advance notice of the attacks and/or that after-the-fact obstruction of investigations took place. Griffin's conclusion is that it's reasonable to suppose that complicity rather than incompetence is the more likely explanation, and he painstakingly makes his case by examining five major challenges to the official version of what happened.

On the second anniversary of 9/11, Donald Rumsfeld made the shocking public claim that the attacks were really blessings "in disguise" (from the book's forward by Richard Falk). Rumsfeld's point was that the US was motivated by the attacks to ramp up its military strength; this was the "blessing" he referred to. But if even part of Griffin's analysis is on the money, the "blessing," which has led to great subsequent loss of life and expenditures of monies in Afghanistan and Iraq, is built on a deception.

A frightening, but not implausible, possibility.

Summary: Disturbing questions that must be fully investigated NOW
Review: What REALLY happened on 9/11? In "The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11," David Ray Griffin compiles a compelling case against the so-called official account, inviting us to consider the evidence and think it through for ourselves.

Griffin explores in depth the disastrous failures on that day to execute well-established FAA and military standard operating procedures designed to protect us from air attack. He considers the physical evidence, the shifting, conflicting, and inconsistent official accounts, and the actions and statements explainable only as either gross incompetence or official complicity. He meticulously presents extensive evidence, documentation, and reasoning from diverse researchers, linking it all together into something far more powerful -- a clear and dispassionately reasoned framework for a full and conclusive investigation.

With eight levels of possible government complicity in mind, he thoroughly examines arguments for and against both official and revisionist accounts. He often follows each line of reasoning to its apparent conclusion, only to challenge it with evidence or conclusions from some unexpected quarter, and then to challenge that, and so on, until everything is connected in a tightly reasoned network of alternative explanations, somewhat reminiscent of television detective Lt. Columbo's relentless "Just one other thing . . ." approach.

His bottom line: Congress, the press, and our best investigative journalists need to conduct a full, thorough, well-funded investigation of what really happened on 9/11. "The New Pearl Harbor" jump-starts that work with a research agenda complete with questions and specific experiments to answer them. Which of the conflicting storylines of Griffin's branching arguments our country will follow into history will depend on what evidence the investigation proves true. Griffin charts multiple, mutually reinforcing paths to most conclusions, each based on different events and evidence. The full investigation of even one of these may well prove sufficient to resolving the issue.

Buy this book and read it carefully, even with only a 30% open mind as Richard Falk urges in his forward. Examine the evidence. Draw your own conclusions. If you come away as we did, seriously questioning the official account and compelled to take action, demand a full investigation. Send a copy to your newspaper, call your Congressional delegation, tell friends and family, and spread the word widely.

The future of our troubled democracy depends on finding out what really happened on 9/11.

Summary: A Wake-Up Call
Review: Most of us have put the tragic memories of 9-11 in the back of our minds, for good psychological reasons. This book calls us to return to that event and look again, for powerful ethical reasons. And we are asked to look not merely at our own memories, but at the physical evidence, the testimony of witnesses, firefighters and technical specialists, and at the official account that emerged. They don't agree with one another.

Professor David Griffin is an eminent philosopher and a master of the art of dispassionate analysis. He also knows how to lead students--in this case, his readers--through step-by-step arguments, precisely and logically. This book shows you exactly what are the problems with the official account of 9-11, the various questions that remain, what is the nature of the evidence thus far, and what you have to believe if you choose the official account or some alternative.

Read THE NEW PEARL HARBOR--very soon. Your mind will be stimulated. Your political beliefs may be challenged because the book raises, as the subtitle suggests, "disturbing questions" about the account produced by the Bush administration. At some points, as the possible implications of the evidence dawn on you, you may wish you could put the book aside, but you will also realize that you must take this information with great seriousness.

Enormous changes are taking place in the United States and in the world as a result of what happened on 9-11, and if we don't understand what really did happen, we as a nation--as the most powerful country in the world--can make extremely serious mistakes. As citizens of a democracy, we owe it to ourselves not to follow our leaders blindly. Griffin urges us to learn as much as we can and draw our own conclusions.

I had to wake up--I hope many others will too.

Summary: A must for all serious truth-seekers
Review: I am a student of Professor Griffin, and know his credibility and dedication to critically seeking the truth first-hand.
I highly recommend this book to everyone at all points on the political spectrum.
The book is challenging and honest, while still being accessible and the arguments easily understood. If there is one book that anyone should read about the 9/11 attacks, it is this one.
Don't hesitate . . . buy the book and pass it on to a friend!

Summary: Both disturbing and compelling.
Review: If you think of yourself as an informed voter, this book is a must-read. I found it deeply disturbing to be confronted with such an extensive list of contradictions & discrepencies in the story we've all been told about 9/11. But if even a quarter of the questions he raises are proven to be true, things are a lot worse than Watergate.

To his credit, Griffin doesn't try to conclude "what's true." Instead, he has condensed several longer, thicker (more inaccessible) books that have raised many troubling questions about the official story of 9/11. It is meticulous and carefully reasoned, but still not stuffy reading; only 168 pages of text. (Plus 40 pages of footnotes, if you're interested.) He includes links to websites with photos that illustrate places where the '9/11 story' and the pictures can't both be true.

He leads us through steps of logical analysis to help us draw our own conclusions. Finally, he calls for a thoroughly independent and adequately-funded Commission to sift through ALL the facts and report to the American people. No arguement there -- we deserve the truth. Read the book and see what you think.

Griffin took the book's title from a document published in 2000 by the "Project for the New American Century" (founded by Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and others) that says the changes they desire would be difficult to achieve without "some catastrophic anc catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor."

Some readers will want to reject Griffin's material outright, but remember, the brain typically defines a framework first, then tries to edit out any new facts that don't fit those pre-existing assumptions. It will require some mental discipline to read it with an open mind. But isn't it worth it to try to learn what really happened? ...Because our national policies and history are still being written based on that sad event...and it seems that "things in the rear view mirror are not as clear as they appear."

Summary: 9/11 for the Discerning Thinker
Review: David Ray Griffin presents a work that intimates a terrible array of potential arguments behind the 9/11 disaster. An indepth prosecutorial assemblage with profound assessments with regard to how the United States government could have possibly allowed such a grievous set of circumstances to have occurred. An essential reading for all Americans!

Summary: 911
Review: A very interesting and thought provoking book. One point that has baffled the world is the one sided media control that seems to have fallen on 'TRUTH' in the post 911' .All News papers Like NY times, washington Times, Washington Post,LA Times, etc. seem to have articles and point of view which seem to be written by the same author.Despite overwhelming evidence that all was not what the world has been presented with , there has not been a single investigative effort either by any U.S news papers nor by channels like CCN or FOX.It seems like a script has been handed to all concerned in the media that needs to be religously followed.

Even the 911 commission report falls far short of looking into the probability of any kind of inside job.The post 911 global events of U.S forces in Afgahanistan, then Iraq enveloping Iran from both sides. With attack on Iran and Syria pretty much inevitable it would be an illogical assumption that 911 was a random event. In the absence of 911 this licence to kill would not have been granted.

It is a confirmed fact of history that the only force in the world that can halt U.S military and neo cons are the American people. It would be a tragedy of historic proportion if 911 attacks could be used to neutralize this Force of Good.

Summary: Drivel
Review: If one were to look at the sources for these claims they would find that they come from the same people who claim that missles hit the WTC and pentagon. But we have all heard that claim before...whats so special about that.. No, thats not all folks.. some refute, what about eyewitness accounts of people seeing a plane hit? These sources claim that it was a advanced government technology ("holographic projection" to be exact)that was put on the cruise missile to make it look like a AA or United flight... Bravo... Im so glad we have the watchful minds of people like that in our society...somone needs a doggie treat. Honestly .. do people have nothing better to do than come up with this cart load of dung?
