Summary: Bush, the Great Imposter
Review: Bush is a disgrace to the American fabric of the United States. For g.w. bush to masquerade as a member of the U.S. AirForce is complete disrespect for our armed services and the men and women who have served us. My father so loved our country that he enlisted during WII for 2 years, served in North Africa, and, after serving his term, re-enlisted for another 2 years in North Africa! that eventually took his life! So g.w. bush's impostering cuts to the bone of this American family! I applaud the book.

Review: .
David Corn would be well advised to tackle the biggest debacle of the Bush presidency: the so-called Patriot Act.

We CAN do better.

Summary: Glad someone has the guts to take on this sick "leader"
Review: President Bush has a problem: He loves to kill people. More to the point, he loves to have others kill people that he calls our enemies. Every day he gets on TV and lies about Iraq. Bush would have us believe that Hussein's arsenal was teaming with Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) that were going to target Israel, England and the U.S. at any moment. The truth is, Iraq is the victim of a serial liar who cannot seem to keep his story straight on why we are there - except to continue the same lie about WMD. A "leader" who to this day cannot admit the invasion was wrong. Bush knows that would destroy his administration and his re-election, so he is forced to keep repeating the same lies.

Corn, rather then being a shrill bush-baiter, writes in a calm dialogue about the many untrue things Bush has said. Bush's many falsehoods make Reagan's numerous lies about Iran/Contra look innocent by comparison. Buy Corn's book and check independently all of his accusations. You will find its a well researched, well documented book written in a tone that respects the reader. If all you have ever read are books like Ann Coulter's, who prints whoppers like the "NY Times never printed anything about the death of Dale Earnhardt" (they did, on day one, page one!) or that the father of a journalist she dislikes had run for president (he didn't) then you will be refreshingly surprised.

Summary: Vol. 1
Review: He should have added 'Vol.1' to the nonetheless aptly titled book. There isn't any real revelations concerning the 'whats' Mr. Bush has been lying about. What the author does, however, is give the reader insight into the 'ways' Mr. Bush lies. After pointing out the 'lying styles', it's difficult now to listen to the man speak and not catch him in some untruth. I feel as though David Corn has tried to present this as an unbiased 'matter of fact' presentation, but he has a difficult time hiding his contempt for the man. This book isn't as witty as Franken's and not as scandalous as Palast's, but it will provide you with plenty of ammunition for your next arguement with your right-winged brother in-law.

Summary: Documented deception by Goerge W.
Review: Corn gives a rapid fire parade of Bush's calculated distortion of the truth before and during his presidency. The weightiness of his disclosures are moderated somewhat by his rapier wit. Careful documentation makes this account virtually impossible to dispute. If this were fiction, the tale would be unbelievable, but as fact it is an incredible inditement of this administration's slickness and slipperiness with facts.

Summary: Studying the Record
Review: Political author and journalist David Corn is a regular contributor to The Nation magazine. He is known for his thorough analysis and research propensities. His exhaustive investigation of Bush promises versus performance covers important issues that should be in the forefront of next year's presidential election.

One major Bush discrepancy closely examined was his proclamation that he was an "outside the Beltway" Washington, D.C. outsider, and that he would be elevating political discourse and removing as best possible partisan politics from the national agenda. From the time he arrived in Washington, Bush, who was never the outsider he pretended to be, has interacted with Tom De Lay and other promoters of partisanship to shape a right wing agenda incommensurate with the voters, over a majority of whom cast ballots for Al Gore in the last presidential election.

In seeking to bring us together as a nation, candidate Bush eschewed the very thought that he was a narrow partisan seeking to march to the tune of the special interest groups who contributed mightily to his campaign. Upon arriving in office he sought a divisive tax cut that favored the very wealthy. Herein lies another lie or discrepancy in that Bush insisted with a straight face that middle income Americans would receive more substantial breaks from his tax cut than wealthier taxpayers. Studies reveal this claim to be a sham. Corn devotes significant attention to the tax cut and Bush's claims.

The most significant of all of Bush's untruths was his reasoning behind going to war with Iraq, also covered in detail by Corn. Saddam Hussein was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. It was necessary to attack him preemptively before he could launch a blistering assault of his own. When UN inspectors sought to determine if this claim were true, and at a time when Saddam was even destroying weapons of his own, albeit reluctantly, Bush moved quickly, and outside the ambit of the UN, taking America to war. As America sits in a quagmire in Iraq with no end in sight, we now know that this was a blatant untruth.

Bush placed great emphasis on his "Leave no child behind" educational plan for America. What we now have is an unfunded mandate with the increasingly fund barren states expected to pick up the tab. All the while $87 billion is sought for Iraq while almost 50 million Americans are without health coverage and many classrooms are burgeoning in size.

When former Niger Ambassador Joseph Wilson honestly reported that the alleged effort by Saddam Hussein to receive beneficial assistance to his nuclear weapons quest from that country was false, suddenly his wife, a CIA undercover operative, is outed by right wing columnist Robert Novak. This placed her life in jeopardy. Bush proclaims that we will probably never know the identity of the person who tipped off Novak. On this point he is sadly believable. How hard has he tried to locate the cowardly culprit?

The right declared that Bill Clinton should be removed from office for lying on an affidavit about an extramarital affair. The issue, it was said, was lying, which was intolerable for a president. Have we heard anything comparable from these same individuals regarding Bush? Corn demonstrates that we are dealing with far more here than one false statement on a single affidavit.

Summary: A useful database of info for conservatives
Review: ...please don't twist this country's current well being into a diatribe against a man of great integrity whose ideals and policies are continually making our country better and better. If you don't like the United States, please try and find another country that is better. ---- a reviewer named mitchell

Please! A book clearly documenting a serial liar, and this guy sees him as a man of integrity?

As to the TIRED plea for those of us who think this is the most corrupt administration ever "lead" by an incompetent to "leave the USA" -my answwer is "hell no!"

Why don't you leave it if you aren't grown up enough to understand that those fighting and questioning this redoubtably vile Whitehouse actually care enough about america and see it as deserving of being lead by much more than a manipulating lying bunch of neocon whack jobs. Let us stay and try to take back the values this country stands for. You guys can take Sean hannity, Rush and Ann Coulter to North Korea, where a tight grip on dissention, the press and protest are enforced. Jeez, the Taliban would be proud of you neocon halfwits.

David Corn clealy lays out the countless lies of Bush, with sources right in its pages. Sorry, no deceptive endnotes ala Coulter. i have been able to search for and find info on every lie detailed in this book. It would take one only a few minutes on google to find the info. Start there, as Fox News Search engine simply won't provide you with fair and balanced results.

A great book, and another step forward in waking up the country to the realization that we've been hoodwinked by these cheats who are robbing us of a future for their own gain. It's time to take back our country..a country founded on liberal princibles.

We've beat GWB once before in 2000. Now we just have to make sure that beating sticks and isn't stolen from us by neocons and the Supreme Court.

Summary: Hard to read
Review: The book is well written but hard to read because it is painful to read about what has happened. The lies that have been swallowed by most of the public. I hope that this opens some eyes. I don't believe the one star people had the strength to face up to the lies they have told themselves.

Summary: The Facts, backed up by comprehensive research.
Review: In a wonderful style that is respectful of journalism's important "who, what, when, where, and why" ideal, David Corn presents startling facts on the numerous lies and falsehoods of George W. Bush.

The research to back up Corn's claims is extensive.

Excellent eye-opener.

Summary: Dead On with a lot of resources
Review: Although I knew that GW was bad for the country, I did not realize how bad until I read this. He is running this country looking out for his best interests and not what is best for the country. This book is well-researched, documented, and well written.
