Rating: Summary: Good thing... Review: ...there is a handbook, otherwise, how would the left know how and who to hate. coordinate you hate speech, good call.
Rating: Summary: Handy Reference Work Review: A morbidly fascinating examination of the Bush Administration's many outrageous atrocities to date, THE BUSH-HATER'S HANDBOOK is a worthy, quick-read reference book filled with a surplus of well researched and detailed information about our most atrocious President ever. Jack Huberman has provided quite a handy source of facts and figures for anyone caught in the middle of an argument with a deluded Bush apologist. While it is far from the best of its kind - THE BOOK ON BUSH by Eric Alterman and Mark Green and BUSHWHACKED by Molly Ivins quickly come to mind as far superior and much more enlightening works - THE BUSH-HATER'S HANDBOOK is an acceptable starting point for anyone who has only recently been able to see through the conservative-controlled media's deliberate misinformation about (and continual protection of) our infuriatingly incompetent "leader."
Rating: Summary: good general beginning--now follow up with detailed sources Review: Being no fan of bush, I picked this book up expecting the usual jokes and puns. They are in here, but this book, as another reviewer described it, is a good beginning perspective on the worst occupant in the white house ever. It is organized very well, especially for finding quick facts. Yes it is written for those who have a biased against bush; it only confirms our beliefs and organizes our knowledge into an accessible medium. obvously, his supporters, as always, will completely lambast this book without reading it or being open minded to an alternative voice. in essence, this short, easily-read book is a great beginning to do research on bush (notice how i refuse to call him president? it would be an oxymoron). it delves, but not too deeply, into his blunders before his occupation began in 2000. Next, it also shows the intentional mistakes that he has made since then, all with alarming speed. to sum up, it gets points for its accessibility, clarity, and use as a general source for more detailed research (say for example if you want to learn more about bush's opposition to abortion rights, it can point you in the right direction.) yet, it loses points because of the name: the title will turn off the people that need to read it the most. vote anybody but bush 2004
Rating: Summary: Sad.... Review: First, let me say that I am no great fan of President Bush and didn't vote for him although I find him more tolerable now than I ever imagined I would . The very concept of this book is so sad and the title itself is really appalling. How often did supporters of Bill Clinton decry books of this sort written about the former president as being unfair, unbalanced and disrespectful? I guess now that the Republicans occupy the White House, turnaround is fair play. This book offers very little in the way of true journalism or a serious, thought-provoking look at the many problems facing our country today. I'm sure the title alone will help sell a few more books but there are far better books out there which offer a serious, scholarly look at the Bush presidency.
Rating: Summary: Yawn Review: Geeeezzz. What can I say? This is a great book for the kool-aid drinking true believing leftists out there, but then again these are the same people who have been swallowing liberal/socialist bile their whole lives anyway. Full of one-sided distortions and outright lies... its the perfect stocking stuffer for that special kneejerk liberal in your life. You know, the one who actually thinks the mating habits of the carabou will suffer from drilling in Anwar. Pathetic. Simply pathetic.
Rating: Summary: Everybody hates this guy! Review: George W. Bush. Where does one begin to inventory the things about this whiny, lying neo-fascist that make so much of the world detest him? What is it about him that causes so many of us to involuntarily retch when his squinting, smirking, shifty-eyed face appears on television, lecturing the populace about the importance of "boldness" and "resolve"? This book does a fine job of reminding us why W. is such a disastrous president and a pitiful excuse for a human being. Let's list a few of his "qualities":1) Blatant and unrepentant dishonesty 2) A propensity for smearing his opponents (see McCain, John; Gore, Albert, Jr.; and Kerry, John) 3) A penchant for donning cute costumes and prancing around aircraft carriers for photo shoots 4) A mortal terror of actual combat (look under "chickenhawk" and "draft dodger") 5) A bitter and profound contempt for both the American people and the US Constitution Bush's daddy's cronies stole an election for him in '00, and they will no doubt try again when he loses this November. I'm sure we're in for a grand display of our Dear Leader's many attributes throughout this election year. Anyone for exploiting 9/11?
Rating: Summary: Funny, crucial and detailed Review: How has the radical Bush administration turned a record surplus into a record deficit, throw people in jail with no legal representation and generally make the world a more dangerous place? Let me count the ways… Better yet, read the Bush Haters Handbook (the title is taken from right-wing pundits accusation of anyone speaking out against the Bush administration policies as practicing “Bush hating†- talk about political correctness!). It’s an A-Z arsenal of talking points to counter your zealous brother in law, partisan pundits and, most importantly, beat Bush in ’04!!
Rating: Summary: Huberman's book and Davie's Bushwhacked good duet Review: Huberman has compiled a lengthy list of Dubya's shortcomings, which together paint a disturbing and unflattering picture of perhaps the worst president ever. However, the book is a bit light on Bush's failings in international affairs and I would recommend Bushwhacked by Michael B. Davie as a great companion book that provides ample evidence of how Bush turns friends into foes with his unstatesmanlike conduct on the world stage. Read both books and you'll find Bush comes up short at home and around the globe, time after time.
Rating: Summary: Great book, unless you're a bleeding heart conservative Review: I bought this book for a friend and read only a little bit of it. I loved the little bits I went through. I was going to hold off on writing a review until I purchased my own copy, but Mr. KWC's review of this book and the others he reviewed (click on the about me link) has made me want to purchase 5 copies of each book and open my own little library so I can spread the love. Or at least arm people against the fanatics: the ultra conservatives who are basically grown up bullies that are looking to convert everyone else through intimidation and embarassment. (ie: they have no valid points to raise in their own defense) Not that the ultra fanatic liberals don't use the same tactics... but the hard core racists, fascists, anti-choice (don't give me the pro-life crap, the only people who are anti life are serial killers, so you can go sod off), and other camps seem to fall into the conservative ranks, and as such we need to do something quickly before we are beaten into submission and called anti-american for expressing faith and love in freedom of speech and a desire to protect it. Oh, KWC, I'm sure Canada loves being called a snow bound slush heap. You're so wise and profound. I can only imagine what you have to say about the middle east, allies and enemies alike. Oh and the quip about Howard Dean.... precious. You're so mature and wise. I will definitely have my NY Times forwarded. I wouldn't want to leave it around and have the big words confuse you. I know modern conveniences are nice, but really, its time to stop letting others think for you.
Rating: Summary: Bush and Ignorant republicans Review: I think its amazing how people actually support one of the dumbest, ignorant, money grubbing, destructive fundamentalist christian ever to enter the white house since...well, ever! Republicans need to get their heads out of their behinds and actually analyze the FACTS. Bush is NOT a good leader for reasons that have been proven. This book is a good start to understanding the kind of person the president really is. The republican party is like oprganized crime, and I have a sneaky suspicion that Bush did not legitimately win the 2004 election...besides, thousands and millions of votes that were democratic were probably "not counted."
I shall keep my Kerry/Edwards sticker on my car until November 2008, when the democratic party will knock those ignorant republicans out of their mansions!
