Rating: Summary: Better than its title. Review: I was a little put off by the title of the book, but after reading some excerpts in the book store, bought it and read it in a couple nights. Basically, it's a quick read - nothing scholarly, and the author admits to his obvious bias against Bush. I was a little put off by the constant reference to this administration as "the Bushies" but, whatever. It also cites obviously liberal sources, that to me undermine its credibility needlessly. However, it also cites some Republican criticism of the administration.Having said that, the book's biggest asset is how it's organized - like a dictionary A to Z, so it's a "quick reference" - albeit biased, into this administration's policies. Much of the book is a re-hash but it really covers more ground than many other titles about the administration, so I can't say I didn't receive at least a cursory education on some of the less publicised atrocities of this administration. Allow me to digress here for a moment - you're probably here on this page on Amazon because you are shocked and awed that Bush is president and are concerned - as well you should be, for the future if he is elected to a second term. Two points - first, VOTE on election day. Secondly, the opposition to Bush will simply not be able to match Bush's war chest, which is at 200 million already. This book cites that elections are won 80% of the time by the candidates with the most money. I have heard similar stat, and it's how this "dangerous clown" got elected in the first place. Not only should you vote for (probably) Kerry, but you should contribute whatever you can to their effort. (Note - I am not affiliated with the Kerry or any Democrat campaign). Point is, it's not enough just to vote on this one. Bush has ample funds and will run a dirty campaign. Consider it an important investment in your (and your children's) future. Remember - 80% of the time the candidates with the most money wins. Back to the book - good primer, easy read, biased but not a partisan screed. Covers familiar territory but may educate you on other less publicised horrors of the Bush administration.
Rating: Summary: No Facts Review: I was looking forward to reading this book but found very little facts other than the writer's own liberal friends. I looked into the sources that were cited and found them to be uncredible. Book should be taken off of Amazon and book shelves, period.
Rating: Summary: An Extraordinary Reference Review: I'm deeply impressed by Mr. Huberman's beautiful writing and his ability to keep his thinking under control without losing an ounce of his obvious passion against this regime. He shows a remarkable ability to organize his well-chosen points and he preserves nuance in the face of gross misdeeds. Amongst all of the recent and welcome books that seek to illuminate and revile the machinations of this administration, this one stands out for its literacy, its research and its ease of use for a quick brush-up on facts. The book is a must-have for anyone committed to reclaiming our nation.
Rating: Summary: Has anyone actually read this book? Review: I've read the reviews on this page but didn't have the stomach to read any that preceded them. I suppose the authors of these reviews think they're being clever but they've contributed nothing toward any estimation of the value of the book. If anyone has actually read this book, your thoughts on its contents would be interesting.
Rating: Summary: Stupid Fat Ugly Scary Bush Review: In response to previous reviewer. 59,459,765 morons should read this book. If they can read at all.
Rating: Summary: Typical Liberal Hack Job Review: It is very funny to read these liberal hack jobs since they never have an ounce of truth in them. Unlike the Starr Report which was based on facts; this hack job, i.e., The Bush - Haters Handbook: A Guide to the Most Appalling Presidency of the Past 100 Years by Jack Huberman, is based on decit, lies and conjecture of the worst kind. Bu then again what did I expect?
Rating: Summary: There are 59,459,765 reasons not to get this ! Review: Just ask the 59,459,765 who voted for Presidnet Bush what they thought of this piece of trash !
Rating: Summary: odd but sadly dishonest Review: Lets get this striaght. Bush crushed Afghanistan and Iraq. He is going to legalize illegal aliens. He has flown a plane onto an aircraft carrier. When madcows were running around he said 'eat meat, cause I do'. He took a secret daring trip to celebrate thanksgiving with the troops. He is quite simply the next Teddy Roosevelt and yet he's totally misunderstood and here is the book to tell you why, because this books misunderstands the man. 100 years ago we had TR and now we have GW and basically they are both revolutionaries.
Rating: Summary: Every American should read this. Review: Liberals will find it a useful tool for disputing rightwing dittoheads. Conservatives will find it a valuable resource for understanding the left's disgust for President Bush. People of every political stripe will find it a well documented (268 footnotes) overview of Jr.'s presidential record. Huberman writes in a concise style that neither panders nor sugar-coats the facts. He presents his material encyclopedia style, allowing the reader to look up information quickly and easily. From "Abortion, Birth Control and Reproductive Health" to "Zinni, Anthony", the wide ranging topics cover a great deal of ground. Whether you like George W. Bush or despise him, this book is a must-read for anyone who will be voting for President in November, 2004.
Rating: Summary: A quick read packed with SOLID information. Review: Not that any American actually NEEDS a handbook to hate Bush, but those of us committed to handing him his pink slip need to fortify ourselves for the nasty battle that has already begun. This book is an easy, quick read with useful information. It's well-written and well worth your time.
