Rating: Summary: Just Some things to consider... Review: I am a college student writing a book analyzing the effect of Bill O'Reilly on America. We are comparing him to former Senator Joe McCarthy, founder of McCarthyism. I don't have a real problem with O'Reilly's opinions; everyone is entitled to his own. What I object to is his claim to un-biased reporting, his deliberate distortion of facts which he presents as truth, and his manipulation of the population's fear. Sound familiar? McCarthy played on those same things during the red scare. They are both amazing propagandists. I am not just making this up to slander this man, there are many sources who can actually prove that O'Reilly misquotes, misuses statistics, and manipulates information to support his cause. And this is not just found from stupid other pundits like Al Franken (i am EQUALLY disturbed by his loose idea of what constitutes truthful). Frankly, i don't really care whether you are liberal or conservative, i don't think it is too much to ask of ANYONE to research what they say. The lack of any research or citing in this book is pitiful. By scholarly definition, if you don't cite, you CAN'T prove an argument and its opinion. so bill, lay of the "surveys show" examples if your not gonna back it up. Generalizing America is no way to prove a valid argument, neither is attacking people less prepared than you to make it look as though you have the stronger argument (come on, there are clearly better adversaries for you than Puff Daddy if you're discussing rap in america), or cutting people off who dissagree with you well enough it might challenge your view point. its poor journalism, and you know it. I expect better from all the pundits of today, liberal and conservative. STOP LYING, ALL OF YOU. confusing the american public is all you are doing.
Rating: Summary: every bathroom needs this! Review: the bible used to be my favorite book,,, until the time i was locked in the bathroom while taking a fat dump. i was out of toilet paper and my bible was nowhere in sight... luckily my roommate keeps this piece of work under the sink just incase of an emergency like this!!! This book saved my underwear from more skid marks. And for that i am very very greatful. No bathroom is complete without this book! WARNING: KEEP THIS BOOK AWAY FROM EYES. IF EYES MAKE CONTACT WITH ANY OF THE TEXT INSIDE THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT TO KEEP THE CANCER FROM SPREADING! (yes this book does cause cancer)
Rating: Summary: Dont read Review: Bill O'Riley borders on absolute stupidity believing that people would actually enjoy this book. He constantly promotes the book on his show filled with mindless drivel. Much like his views, the mindnumbing hipocracy shines through. To actually enjoy this book you would have to either be such a mindless right-winger as to actually believe what he is saying or be so stupid as to not notice his obviously hipocritic statements. He debases the wealthy media, what does he believe he is? It is this sort of contradiction that shows me that he doesnt even listen to what is coming out of his mouth.
Rating: Summary: wow Review: gave this book to my grandfather for his 80th birthday and he loved it. i honestly have yet to read it but i plan to shortly. now, for my thoughts on O'Reilly like everyone else has done: CNN and MSNBC are so far left it's almost unbearable. it's great to have a news program that is "fair and balanced" and does report the facts and not what will get kerry elected in '04. i just find it funny how the rest of the youth in america follow one person (maddox) like sheep, after all, how could you possibly be a cool person if you didn't bash Bush for his "stupidity" or O'Reilly for having a different opinion than the REST OF THE MEDIA. the other day a friend of mine brought in a list of GWBush jokes printed off the web and the teacher read it off and hung it on their blackboard, a few weeks ago Maddox's BINGO board of O'Reilly was brought in and i was verbally attacked for defending Bill after their liberal propaganda vs O'Reilly didn't work, and finally, the big one... the one that shows just how Anti-Bush the youth are and just how sad it is that media can have such an effect. 9/11/01: my friends showed their shock and disbelief in what'd happened. 9/12/01: they come back preaching about how 9/11 was Bush's fault because they'd heard someone on CNN say so. America's going downhill fast, i love america, but i lose faith in americans.
Rating: Summary: NO! Review: The only serious five star review I have found for this book was from a freshman in Highschool who liked to "cite" the book in her political arguments. If I was this dumbasses teacher I would fail them for using an unfactual source. O'reilly is the worse thing since Limbaugh, but at least Rush admitted his show was entertainment. O'reilly refuses to admit that his running monologues (disguised as interviews and reports) are thick in generalizations, distorted fact, and exageration. Do this country a favor, instead of buying this book give the twenty bucks to a third party canidate, any third party canidate.
Rating: Summary: No Spin Zone Review: I am a high school freshman and I gave my father this book for Christmas. He finished reading it and gave it to me. Our school e-mail network has a politics folder and this book is a great referance source. I'm able to pull out DIRECT quotes from all the people he's interviewed instead of posting my opinions with no evidence to back them up. I also love this book because it's just like watching his show, but he puts his own commentary into it. I can flip from interview to interview and they all still make sense when you don't read them in order. His interview with Hilary Clinton is particularly amusing.
Rating: Summary: Sucks Review: Hey guys! Looks like another sucky book from Mr. Hypocrite himself. It sucks, don't buy it. He talks about these "issues" but he himself has become an issue, and a thorn in many sides. What an idiot.
Rating: Summary: No-holds-barred advice Review: Bill O'Reilly reminds of Michael Moore in the way that he wants people to know the real truth about what is going on in America. He doesn't shy away from criticizing people in high places, he exposes their lies. Examining sex and violence in the media and the tarnished legacy of the Clintons with the same feistiness as the death penalty (which he opposes) and timid national news organizations that roll over for the powerful. Here he excerpts past interviews with Dr. Laura (on working mothers), former surgeon general Dr. Joycelyn Elders (on sex education), Puff Daddy (on rap), Susan Sarandon (on police brutality) and Al Sharpton (on boycotts). He's seeking the truth and is determined to get it.
Rating: Summary: crap, plain and simple Review: This guy must be the dumbest person in America. Oh wait, ok, GW is dumber, but O'Reilly certainly gives him a run for his money. Blowhard, moron, idiot: that about sums it up.
Rating: Summary: Excrement Eater Review: Bill O' Reilly eats excrement, end of story. I haven't even read this book but the excerpts are so biased, hypocritical, and unintelligent that they already make me want to snap his neck and take a piss down his esophagus.
