Rating: Summary: Great Wine and Sour Grapes Review: I have read this book three times and loved it better each time I did so. I have been recommending this to all of my friends and correspondants who are fascinated with the Kennedy Assassination subject. Almost all of these people have read the book and found it to be way and beyond the best, most factual and believable book yet writted. Some of these people, on the other hand, are furious with it. These are writers, at one level or another, who have published, or wish to publish, their own ideas of what happened in Dallas on November 22, 1963. A lot of these studies, and books, are outlandish, convoluted and very intense, a good discription of many of their authors. Actual examples of these odd ideas, sent to me under conditions of privacy (their names were never to be mentioned to a soul): Ruby was a Freemason; a Mafia member; a Mossad agent. Kennedy was shot 3-6-9-11 times with various calibers of guns; by "sabot" shells, rifles camouflaged as cameras and umbrellas and so on. Nixon, the Hunt family and J. Edgar Hoover were all in Dallas that day, watching the shooting from some unspecified nearby building. Platoons of CIA agents and Mafia dons were crowding around Dealy Plaza disguised as tramps and railroad workers. Of course there is never any documentation supplied on all of these labored theories and I guess that a book filled with documentation is reproach to their ideas. Actually, the truth is always found in the simplest answer and this book clearly expresses as much of the actual, as opposed to the official, truth as we will ever learn. One of my writer friends told me that the author of this book "was obligated to prove" (to him) the "originality" of his ream of his published and supporting official papers. My comment is that the reader who dislikes their obvious authenticity is the person who has to prove there is something wrong with them...other than the obvious fact that the reader's personal opinions (or those of his friends) were stepped on. Incidentially,I found out later that this writer was actually a retired government intelligence agent who, along with his former employers, were outraged at the documented accusations! One of the statements in the official papers shown in the appendix is that the government happly encourages the publication of as many far-fetched books as possible on this subject. The reasons for this are simple: It is strongly hoped that the public (who is always kept in the dark on such things) should get so confused that they will (hopefully) disregard anything that might really expose the actual killers. Again, I cannot speak highly enough of the "Regicide" work and the relentless logic one finds in this landmark work of exposure! Kenneth Spender
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book Review: I just finished reading the Regicide book and have read the reviews of it. I would like to add a few comments of my own. I am not really a Kennedy assassination fan. I don't know a great deal about this as it happened before I was born. I, and many of my friends, do believe that the official story is not only not true but is so silly as to be an affront to people...This book came into my hands by accident and I read it at one sitting. I was absolutely shocked by what I found in it and I initially simply did not believe it. But, in talking to a friend of my late father's who was in the CIA, I discovered that it was true. I could accept perhaps another shooter in Dallas or credit the messed up history from the government as the usual bureaucratic stupidity but this book goes well beyond that relatively generous condemnation. I will say that as shocked as I am, I do believe it and the use of dozens of pages of official Governmental reports is enough to shut up even the most noisy pro-Government critic. I currently live in France and I have shown the book to a number of people, one at the Ministerial level in the government, and all of them, without exception, have said that it is about time that the American public learn what all of them allready know and have known for decades. Namely that Kennedy was killed by his own people and not by a "lone nut." It must have been a miracle that these documents survived for all these years in the private files of a top CIA man. Maybe, if we wait long enough, we can find out what really happened in other areas that the Government has so closely hidden. I could not put this book down and have loaned my copy to a friend who also is shocked by it. But, like myself, he too believes it completely. If we cannot trust our "guardians", whom can we trust? Here we have the CIA (at the highest level), the FBI, the NSA, the JCS and most of official Washington "in the know" about this significant event in American history. When one reads this book, one wonders just how many other really evil acts have been subsequently covered up? Again, a very fine, accurate and well-written expose of official misconduct and outrageous coverups...
Rating: Summary: Diabolic and disturbing. Review: If the documents released in this book are not fakes, then it is most alarming that it didn't get more public attention, because it is an official nuclear bomb. In fact, it proves that JFK was killed by the CIA with knowledge of other high placed persons and authorities. Why this assassination? It was a killing for survival. JFK planned to break-up the Agency and 'scatter it to the winds'. The whole book is a frontal attack on the CIA, written with anger and profound disgust. Disgust with the enormous waste of money on an incompetent Agency (it couldn't prevent the September 11 attack), on its deep implication in drug trafficking, its disastrous analyses, its unending catalogue of instigations of rebellion and civil wars, of terrorism and assassinations. And the final result: the world turned against the US. This book contains other very revealing facts. The CIA helped the OAS in France in an attempt to kill President De Gaulle. The JFK gunmen were French citizens. One of them Lucien Sarti, who escaped to Mexico and was murdered there? We know already from other sources that JFK was not a saint, but that 'In Chicago even the death were said to have voted, again, early and often' (p.58) was news for me. This book confirms the thesis of Peter Dale Scott's 'Deep Politics', which suggested that the thugs-of-war behind the crime were to be found in the US power system, a symbiosis of public government, organized crime and private wealth. This book is a very disturbing analysis of one of the boldest, darkest and most important assassinations of all time. It shows that the world is only governed by the elected politicians if they carry out the policies of the real powerful. A must read.
Rating: Summary: Interesting and possibly plausible Review: Interesting book and interesting theory, quite plausible explanations if everything in the book is indeed fact. For those on the fringe about this, it's a short book to read and if you dont believe the theory, you can take it as just another theory. Book is more for the indepth JFK assassination reader rather than a beginner.
Rating: Summary: Regicide: The Official Assassination of JFK Review: Lets close this nonsense once and for all. We will never know the whole truth with complete certainty. Amen.
Rating: Summary: EXPLOSIVE! Review: Most murders are solved by close examination of those with motive and opportunity and the murder of JFK is no exception. But not all of the conspirators had the same motive, some were personal. "Regicide" clearly identifies those with motive and those who benefited from the murder of JFK. But for the conspiracy to succeed and the myth developed, the "investigation" into the murder and all related events had to be controlled by some of those involved in the conspiracy. Two men, Lyndon B. Johnson and J. Edgar Hoover, completely controlled the "investigation" which resulted in the Warren Commission Report. These two men are named as among the conspirators in "Regicide." Each benefited from the murder and the record is certain that each hated JFK and RFK. Who ever heard of a legitimate investigation where the principal investigators had motive and benefited from the murder being investigated? An honest investigation would have revealed the conspiracy in a matter of days, but this was a dishonest investigation designed to produce a dishonest result. Many researchers have offered more than credible evidence that the Warren Commission report is a fraud designed to produce Oswald as a lone gunman. It is little noted that LBJ left a record that he did not believe the report. Howard K. Smith, a highly respected reporter of the era, has stated that in an interview with LBJ, LBJ stated: "Castro got him before he could get Castro." In another filmed TV interview, LBJ stated there were "possible international connections" to the murder of JFK (Corsican Mafia?). Madeleine Brown, LBJ's Dallas mistress, stated on a TV show that LBJ told her that "Texas Oil" was behind the murder. If LBJ ever spent one second wondering why Oswald killed JFK, I have not been able to find it. The evidence is that LBJ and JEH knew Oswald was to be framed and they knew it before a shot was fired. Why would LBJ leave a record of his disbelief? A good guess would be disinformation. If the plot were ever publicly revealed, LBJ left a historical record which would hopefully distance him from the report, and eliminate him as a suspect in the conspiracy. If LBJ, the originator of the Warren Commission, didn't believe the report, who among us should believe it? It is, as Oliver Stone has stated: "A myth." My own historical novel "The Innocent Man Script" closely parallels those mentioned within "Regicide," i.e., those with motive to participate in a conspiracy to murder JFK. This novel was written to entertain a reader in a conventional sense while slowly introducing credible evidence as to who benefited from the murder of JFK and their actions afterwards which indicates complicity. All references to the historical figures of the era within the novel are based upon credible evidence and none of that is fiction. The conclusions within "The Innocent Man Script" support much of the evidence presented in "Regicide." "Regicide" is a wonderful work and should be believed, until and if, the documents within are proven to be false. My guess is that the work will stand the test of close examination, but if it gains in popularity, as it should, then the mainline media will attack it with the same energy with which they hailed Posner's greatly flawed "Case Closed" which supported the Warren Commission. Some have criticized "Regicide" by finding fault with other works by the author. "Regicide" is an individual work and should be judged upon its own merits without regard for any previous work. "REGICIDE" DOES NOT STAND ALONE! THERE IS CONSIDERABLE EVIDENCE ELSEWHERE THAT ALSO IMPLICATES THE CONSPIRATORS NAMED WITHIN "REGICIDE." And again, if LBJ didn't believe Oswald was a lone gunman, as the evidence suggests, why should any American? Read "Regicide!" and draw your own conclusions. The USA needs to get at the truth of the murder of JFK and the sooner, the better. We've lived with the lie far too long.
Rating: Summary: The last book on the subject. Review: Nothing else needs to be written on this subject. This book plainly spells out the motive, plot and execution and the CIA's obvious involvement of the events of Nov. 1963. It backs it up with the most explosive yet authentic evidence to date. It is an easy read considering some of the more complex writings on the subject.
Rating: Summary: Vericide Review: Please don't waste your money on this book. It purportedly contains two heretofore never seen documents--one a KGB investigation and analysis of the assasination, and the other a DIA evaluation of the KGB document--both appearing to be no more than the fabrication of the author's very fertile imagination (perhaps not too fertile since it essentially panders to the most current theories of assasination buffs). These documents are not to be believed (here are a DIA document and a KGB report both of which have paragraph numbers that conveniently parallel the authors movement from one chapter's content to the next, and one of which begins with the heading "Statement of Policy" but quickly veers from policy statements to, in order, reasons for the assisnation plan, Oswald, and Ruby--all this with no new paragraph heading or section heading). ... Don't bother with this book. This is a pure hoax. As someone has already stated in another review: think here of Clifford Irving. I suspect this book amounts to no more than a disinformation campaign (instigated by whom?)with the secondary purpose of making some money, the whole while getting a big laugh out of genuine and sincere assasination buffs ponying up money to buy this forgery. Stay away! This is an assault on truth, a veritable vericide.
Rating: Summary: Not the Rosetta Stone I hoped for ! Review: Please research the author's history, especially regarding the book (Gestapo Chief... Do we really believe that Hitler did not die in the bunker but actually escaped to Spain ? The author has alleged so in that "work". I honestly believe in the JFK conspiracy, Roswell and think there might actually be something to crop circles. This new book of JFK revelations should be taken, however, with a Mount Everest - size grain of salt. Does Clifford Irving ring a bell ?
Rating: Summary: Please read with a critical mind Review: Reading all the available books on the JFK assassination is like watching the movie "Drowning Mona." EVERYONE has a reason and is suspect, though few actually carried it out. I'm afraid that this book only adds to the list of "crack-pot" theories, as Douglas subtly warns. A reference made in his book from an exert of the Driscoll Report mentions that the US Government allows all sorts books criticizing the Warren Commission Report to be published so should the truth be revealed, it will be obscured by lunacy. This book is, however, full of eye-opening material. I also like the references to Posner's book "Case Closed." Douglas is rather tame in countering Posner's claims that "everyone is wrong, I and the Warren Commission are right." Douglas also breaks up his book into three areas: The "official" account, the Driscoll Report, and his own information based on the CIA man Robert T. Crowley. I don't believe Douglas editorializes his information, nor do I think he is sensationlizing the facts. Instead, I believe he is painting a clear-cut picture of events which leads the reader wanting more records opened. This is a must-read and should be read along with "On the Trail of the Assassins," by Jim Garrison, and "Destiny Betrayed," by James DiEugenio.
