Summary: Lock your windows
Review: An excellent accounting of the life of Rex Krebs. Vivid description of the rape scenes. Feel like you are there. You will never leave your windows unlocked again.

Summary: I could not put this book down!
Review: Corey Mitchell obviously did his homework. Being from the Central Coast where these horrific murders took place I can tell you that Mr. Mitchell did an excellent job in his description of the scenes of the crime and other surrounding areas. A highly recommended book if you love true crime.

Summary: Fascinating Read
Review: Dead and Buried is the best true crime book I have ever read. Corey Mitchell's easy to read style of writing and extensive research made this a book I could not put down. He gave you detailed and interesting background information on Krebs as well as the police interrogations. This book reads like a novel, and you feel like you get to know Krebs as well as the victims and their families. I highly recommend this book whether you are a true crime reader or not!

Summary: A must read for True Crime enthusiasts
Review: Having always been drawn to the true crime genre, I have found myself very critical of how authors present these horrible cases. I have tended to stick with Ann Rule as a reliable source for a compelling read, but I have finally found a second author to be on the lookout for. Corey Mitchell presents this story in a unique way and I didn't want to put it down, yet didn't want it to end. I found myself torn on deciding my major between Psychology and Sociology. This book is a perfect example of how both help to explain the criminal mind. I finally chose to go with Sociology, and thus tend to lean toward the explanation of the horrible childhood of Rex Krebs for his criminality, although a likely combination of both. I disagree with the one review that suggested the story of Krisitn Smart be omitted, because it helped set the stage for the feelings and fears of the community, and more specifically the college community in San Luis Obispo. I especially found this to be a wonderful tribute to Corey Mitchell's wife with its focus on the release of sex offenders. I look forward to reading more.

Summary: Best true crime I've read in a long time
Review: I have been looking for a good true crime book for a long time. Something I could really get into and not want to put down. I didn't get a good book.....what I got was a great book. Well written it kept me interested from start to finish. I have read so much nonsense that I was begining to wonder if anyone would ever write another good true crime. Mr. Mitchell explained the story in such a way that in some instances you could feel what was about to happen. While I have no sympathy for Rex Krebs, I feel his parents should be sitting next to him on death row. In my opinion, it was the two of them who helped create the monster in Rex Krebs. It's a cautionary tale for women that the boogeyman does exist and he could be around the bend or outside your window.

Summary: True Crime expert
Review: I thought this book was slow and it jumped back and forth too much to know who you were reading about. I didn't think this was all that great of a book. I have read better

Summary: Worth the Read!!!
Review: It took me a few hours to read this book from cover to cover and
I thought it was very well written and easy enough to follow.
The story is about the events leading up to and around the disappearance of two young women (different times) and the man who brutally raped and murdered them. It is a truly gruesome and sad account of what went on in their last moments as well as an overview of Rex Kreb`s life as a child through to serial killer.

However, the only loose end in it I felt was the part the writer wrote about another "female student" going missing around the same time, but has never been found since. I feel this was irrelevant and not linked to Rex Kreb so should have been ommitted all together. Other than that it is interesting to read it from a psychological perspective as I found the comments provided by the psychiatrists` used in the trial very informative and educational in regards to the definitions of sexual sadism and anti social disorder personality. Brilliant read although I really feel for the victims and their families.I hope that they know that there is still alot of good out there....

Summary: COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN
Review: This book is an amazing portrayal of rapist and murderer Rex Krebs. It captures his life in such detail you feel like you are interviewing him yourself. If you love true crime this book is an absolute must. I could not put it down until the last page was read, then I made sure my door and windows where locked.

Summary: Insight into the world of policing
Review: This book was a very interesting insight into the world of policing. The author also highlights the black humor which is what holds men of the teams together in such a demanding environment. It depicts perfectly the strain that is put on modern day crime fighters with the sophisication of modern criminals, the toll it has on their health and ultimatly their social life marriage etc
