Rating: Summary: Pretty good, but I wish she'd write about Daine and Numair Review: Hey I loved this book read the whole thing in about 3 days. I wish she would write about Daine and Numair those caracters had a real life to em' There pretty cool. But these ones are ok too. Theres only 1 book out I havent read out buy tameria. Any ways. You should read this book but don't like through your self over to find it. I'd give it a higher scored but I'm still bumbed out about the Immortals serices ending.
Rating: Summary: SANDRY'S book? Coulda fooled me... Review: I must say first that I loved "The Song of The Lioness" and "The Imortals" but this one doesbn't cut it for me. First of all, it's titled "Sandry's Book" But Sandry is hardly in it at all, I wouldn't mind it switching around so much if it had at least focused on Sandry a little more. In fact, it had more about Tris then anyone (Focusing on her training and feelings etc.), there was a ton about Tris, and I didn't really like her even. My other problem is the fact that it seems like Tamora Pierce tried to tone this series down a little from the other two. There was almost zero action, and the whole reason I loved her other two series is because they were PACKED with action. And the ending climax was a little, well, lame. Hardly exciting at all. And finally (Don't worry, I'll stop bickering soon) their powers aren't all that even, I mean, Tris can control the weather and what power does Sandry have? THREADcraft, what kind of power is that? It doesn't seem fair to me... Sorry about babbling, I just thought this book was a letdown from her previous ones. -- Genevieve
Rating: Summary: wonderful, but i want tortall! Review: the book was just lovely, and I even enjoyed the point of view switchings, but I miss Allana and Daiene. (And King Johnothan, George, and Numiar)
Rating: Summary: I was an allright book, however, I agree: We want Tortall!!! Review: It was OK. In fact, pretty much good. But I didn't really like it. I just want good old Tortal back. I mean, where's Diane? Nmair? Alanna? Other than tha, it was ok.
Rating: Summary: it's o.k. Review: I just read through the review's, and I do have to agree with most poeple, I am homesick for Tortall. And it would be nice to "see a familiar face". I do like this series, even though this is the first book. It's pretty kewl.
Rating: Summary: Great book for those who believe in strength in numbers Review: 4 kids from completely different walks of life band together slowly because of the girl who's name is in the title If you love her previous sets this is only slightly more confusing because of the constant shift between characters
Rating: Summary: I'M HOMESICK!!! Review: This book was good, but I miss Tortall! I kept on expecting Alanna or Daine or Numair or Thayet or someone like that to pop up every once and a while. I can't wait till 1999, you know why? I just got news that she is starting a new Tortall series! It's 'bout another girl trying to get her shield (been there, done that), but #1, everyone knows she is a girl (Jon made delcared that girls could become knights, with their parents permission), and #2, mem those sprites (the undine) in Wild Magic that Daine and Numair saw in the woods? Well, Kel (the new would be knight) can contact them, thats the magic that she has. Also, I heard that charcters from Alanna's and Daine's books will be making appearances (I bet that Daine will be in the training yard, teaching Kel how to use a longbow, or in the stables, teaching her how to ride, and I wonder if she married Numair... I also bet that Alanna will make a few appearances too... How many years after The Relams of the Gods will this take place? I hope not too long, I had trouble seeing Alanna in her 30's, I don't even want to think about Daine, if Daine is in her 30's, then imagine how old Numair will be? Oh Goddess...). :-)
Rating: Summary: not bad, not the best Review: I thought this book was ok. It isn't as good as The Immortals though. One thing I like about it is that it has four main characters and not one. I also like that it is in a different place, although I keep expecting Daine or someone to pop up. On thing I don't like about the book is the way it skips around from character to character. I see the title "Sandry's Book" and expect it to be from her point of veiw only. It is kind of confusing when it switches around so much. But over all it is a really good book and I can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Imaginative, worth the effort Review: Having read this book for myself, I'm now reading it to my eight-year-old daughter. She struggles with some of the vocabulary and keeping the characters straight, but it's worth it to her for the delightful interaction between Tris, Briar, Sandry and Daja, Rosie and Lark and Niko. The magic is presented with imagination, humor and a casual acceptance; the action leaves my "kid" (she liked that reference) wide-eyed; the crafts and nature components have her mind whirling behind those big eyes. We have to work at this one a bit, and it's all the better for the effort. I look forward to the next books, and plan to try Pierce's others.
Rating: Summary: A rather imaginative text, but I MISS TORTALL!!! Review: It would have been better if it had taken place in familar surroudings, like Tortall =0). It would have been interesting to know what happened to Numair and Daine. It lacks the wit and charm that the Alanna and Daine series has, but nonetheless, it has a certain appeal that has me waiting for the next book.
