This book is a terrific guide for the amateur photographer/new parent. It is a step-by-step guide, easy to read and full of helpful photos that illustrate the authors suggestions. The fold-out pages are great, showing lots of examples. This would be a terrific gift for new parents.

Being a student of photography myself, I found this book in the photography section. I picked it up to glance through it and was amazed at the quality of the tips and advice in this book. Mr. Kelsh manages to sum up a whole semester of photography in this nicely laid out book. Thanks to him, I have the perfect gift for my sister. I got the book and I am going to buy her a nice simple camera to go with it. I know she will capture some stuuning photos of her baby-to-be with the help of this book.
Rating:  Summary: Awesome! Review: I bought this book in preparation for the birth of my daughter in Nov, 2001. I had a decent 35mm Minolta but lacked the knowledge or technique to capture really nice pics. I read the book, followed the suggestions and my pictures have improved DRAMATICALY. The photos I take now have been getting many, many compliments. Some people have now asked me if I studied photography. The techniques are simple but incredibly effective, especially the ones about lighting and getting close. If you are new to photography and want to get nice, memorable pictures of your child get this book now.
