Summary: The best way to learn
Review: I love this book. I recomend it to all of my friends and to anyone who is thinking of learning Spanish. I started reading one chapter a day and very quickly and almost effortlessly learned the rules of the Spanish language. I found the approach both logical, and in my opinion more practical than memorizing vocabulary.
The book uses a more "right brain" creative aproach to learning, which is natural and comfortable, as learning should be. It presents a gramatical rule and then lets you practice it over and over again in various sentence structures. It involves very little memorization, and is very "hands on" in its teaching technique.
For anyone who has been tottaly frustrated by trying to learn spanish in the traditional classroom style, I whole heartedly recomend this book.

Summary: Excellent guide to quick conversational mastery
Review: I obtained this book twenty years ago for a community
college course on conversational Spanish. I had taken
Spanish in school for a year, and because much of my
life had been spent in the Southwest, I was surrounded
with Spanish every day. But the ability to intuitively
form sentences from "thin air" as it were, rather than
calling upon something memorized by rote, escaped me until
I got this book. It's easy, it's gratifying, it's great.
The approach that this book uses has changed my attitude
towards language and has given me a mindset that has made
it easy for me to subsequently pick up enough German,
Italian and French to be at least minimally functional
in those languages as well. Two thumbs up!

Summary: I learned how to speak Spanish in six months.
Review: I used this book to learn how to speak, read and write in Spanish. After finishing the book, I drove to Mexico City. I was able to ask for directions when I got lost, carry on conversations in restaurants, find my way in the city, and speak with a Spanish language accent. I have read many other texts but this is by far the best and I use it to teach Spanish.

Summary: This book helped me place out of two semesters!
Review: I was able to teach myself enough Spanish to place out of two semesters of college Spanish and start at a higher level by using only this book. It starts with words and structures that are the same in Spanish and English to highlight that you already know quite a bit of Spanish. The tone is encouraging, the flow is logical, and pitfalls are pointed out clearly. When I need to brush up, this will be the first book I pick up.

Summary: Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish
Review: I've been studying Spanish for over 3 years and I have purchased dozens of books. I've also completed 2 years of study in a local college. This book is by far may favorite of all the books that I have collected during my studying. The lessons are put in a very logical order and the book has been written so that it is much easier to learn! I hope to see more of Madrigal's work in the future. This is a great book. It's worth every penny. In fact, soon I will have to purchase another because I have dog earred the pages and have written all inside of the book, soon it will fall apart because I have used it so much. How's that for a write up? Seriously, it's a great book for the student who really wants to learn the language and understand how the language is assembled, etc.

Summary: Even a foreign-language dummy like me can speak Spanish!
Review: I've taken all kinds of foreign language classes to no avail. I used to be convinced that I'm just foreign-language stupid, doomed to be mono-lingual for the rest of my life.

After reading the glowing customer reviews here at amazon for Madrigal's Magic Key, I decided to take a chance on it.

I'm not too far into the book yet - I'm still on "leccion numero cinco" - but I'm already speaking Spanish with confidence. My Cuban-American boyfriend helps me with my pronounciation and tests me on my vocabulary. We are already having simple, short conversations entirely in Espanol - after only five lessons!

I bought this book along with Madrigal's "See It and Say It in Spanish" and find they complement each other very well. I actually use the Reminder Cards from Magic Key, and I do all the sentence-forming exercises and translations; combined with writing down the vocabulary from "See It and Say It" and posting the words around my house to read and remember at random as I go about my day to day life, I'm picking things up very quickly, and my boyfriend is highly impressed with my Espanol! Ms Madrigal has made it so that you are creating Spanish words and sentences on your own from the very first lesson, building up your confidence and making it all seem so easy and fun.

Summary: The Best book for learning Spanish available
Review: I've used many different books to learn Spanish, and found that Margarita Madrigal really is the easiest. Instead of immediatly teaching us to memorize verb conjugation, she starts out with a commom ground. What do I mean? Well, from the very first chapter she shows us that we know many spanish words already. For example, Here are some spanish words that every English-speaking person knows....popular, capital, animal, hotel, radio, conductor, cable, actor, ideal, fexible, central. Is that incredible or what? Margarita goes on to show us other words that we can easily recognize, such as optimista, dentista, artista, importante and presidente. All of these are very easy words to recognize and use. Of course this does not mean that her book is shallow or too easy. As you continue on in her book, you will see very detailed explanations and verb conjugations. This publication has been extensively used in many missionary homes by Jehovah's Witnesses, to enable these missionaries to really communicate with and understand Spanish-speaking people in all of Latin America. This book is a must for anyone who truly wants to learn Spanish the way it is spoken.

Summary: The best Spanish book I've ever read
Review: If you have been trying to learn Spanish for years like I have, this book is a must. It's to the point and offers practical grammar and vocabulary development.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply the best book I've found....and I've bought them all
Review: Learning Spanish should be fun and easy. If not, the odds are that you'll get frustrated and never learn this fantastic language.

Madrigal's Magic key is trully "magical." The book simply is entertaining and a very easy read. It makes learning Spanish fun and not a chore. The book gets the student right into the language without all those complicated rules. The emphasis is on buidling your confidence and establishing a Spanish vocabulary quickly without pain. This is accomplished based on your knowledge of English. For example, she teaches you the tricks of converting english nouns into verbs. The result is that you're not memorizing verbs but focusing on applying simple rules to building a large spanish vocabulary quickly and maintain conmfidence.

The book would truly be outstanding if it combined more exercises (writing) with her "See It and Say it in Spanish" book which is great also.

This is not a book that you'll read and forget a! ! bout. The second and third time I read it increased my comprehension significantly. My ownly regret is that I found this book after spending alot of money on books that only frustrated me, were virtually useless and definitely too much like work.
