Rating: Summary: A down-to-earth view de-mystifies mediumship Review: John Edward has written an approachable, first- person account of what it's like to be a medium. As a fellow medium who met the author in Lily Dale, NY in August 98, I particularly enjoy John's humor, his integrity, and his willingness to de-mystify the world of mediumship. For students of mediumship, and those who may one day consult a medium, I highly recommend "One Last Time." --Lauren Thibodeau
Rating: Summary: A must read for anyone who has wondered about the after life Review: There are few books that I have read on the subject of the afterlife that is as credible and real as "One Last Time". The author John Edward accomplishes this by approaching the subject from his own skeptical veiwpoint, then having to validate to himself and the reader that there is life after death. Each chapter is compelling and mind boggeling at the same time. Chapter 13 "Andrew's Story" will live with me forever, I have re-read this chapter 5 times. If you ever lost someone close to you and wondered "how they are" or "do they see whats happening now" and you want those assurances, then read this book, it will change your life forever.
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: John has captured the magic and spirituality of after death communication all in one book. I have read many books on this subject since the death of my son and none of them come close to "ONE LAST TIME". I was moved to tears several times, not from sadness but from the opening of my heart. It is as if I have once again found certainty in the belief that there is no death.....it's all just LIFE. Thank you John for what you have done for me, your other readers, and for our friends and loved ones on the other side.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating, great story for continuing life Review: I found this book to be different from other like books. It was a refreshing story of a medium and how he helps people heal. Being a bereaved mother myself, messages from my daughter are very healing and most welcome. Knowing personally one subject in his book, I can really attest to the accuracy of the reading!!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down; I'm now a true believer. Review: I was given "One Last Time" by a friend recently. In the beginning, I must admit I was skeptical. However, after reading it, I am now a great fan of Mr. Edward. He writes with sensitivity and humor keeping my interest peaked all the way through. Some books/authors make a positive difference in one's life; Mr. Edward accomplishes this with ease.
Rating: Summary: Sensitivity, comfort and amazment, it's all in here Review: After attending one of John Edward's many seminars, I purchased his book, "One Last Time." It was the first book of John Edwards that I've read, and once I picked it up, it held me, I just could not put it down. With each "encounter" he speaks of in the book, it's like being there; he literally pulls you in, brings you along side him and makes you a part of it. You can literally "feel" his words and emotions.I highly recommend this book to everyone; regardless of if you have or have not ever experienced the death of a loved one. It will truly bring a feeling of peace to those who are afraid of death, and a feeling of comfort and relief to those who have had loved one's "Cross over," as once you read the stories in this book, you will know that your friend/family member hasn't died, they have simply moved on to the next level. My own outlook on the subject of death and dying has changed immensely.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I think the ultimate testament to how good this book is is that it made an skeptic believe John Edwards is telling the truth. I have a hard time trying to reconcile my religious doubts with my belief in the stories in this book, but I did believe every one. I couldn't put the book down. The stories are just so compelling and heart-breaking, I cried through at least half of them. I'm sad now that John's TV show is off the air. When I see him do a reading on one of the audience members, I can tell that it's real for those people and that they are not acting. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: I Got My One Last Time Review: I have to admit the title is what drove me to purchase this book. I mean, I love John Edward and the work he does but I have longed for my own "one last time" with regard to a loss I endured last year. While reading John's book I felt transported as if I was right by his side while he would do his readings, tell his stories and leave his reader spellbound by his gift. I so thoroughly enjoyed this book that I immediately bought "Crossing Over" which I just started this evening. After reading a statement in "Crossing Over" regarding Amazon.com comments on his "One Last Time", I realized, I've read that and I can write a review about it. John, although I missed you at the Borders book signing last night in Westwood, I feel I have to say that reading your books and watching you on your show, Crossing Over, provides me with the ever-empowering faith and belief that I've known since I was a child there IS LIFE AFTER THIS. Thank you!!!! Peace.
Rating: Summary: I'm a believer Review: I am a skeptic by nature but after reading One Last Time at the urging of my sister, I am now a believer. John Edward comes across as genuine and straight forward. I reccomend this book to anyone who may or may not believe in psychics or mediums.
Rating: Summary: Before the hype... Review:
One Last Time is, for me, a seminal work. That is not to say there aren't more important or more insightful or more useful books out there on this subject. (Having said which, I haven't found one yet!) John Edward has had a profound influence on my life, so I'll admit to considerable bias. His (pre-stardom) story is fascinating. His down-to-earth, regular guy personality is a refreshing change from the plethora of mystical morons out there. I think John's greatest contribution to the field has been to demystify the process, to truly humanise it and to spread the word far and wide better than anyone before. Although on his show Crossing Over he may occasionally come out with some intriguing information, too much of what he does leaves him open to accusations of cold reading etc. (Frankly, in my limited experience, I have witnessed and undergone far more astounding phenomena of spirit communication/clairvoyance/clairaudience than anything described in this, or any other, book.)
John's later books, thus far, have been more showbizzy and, therefore, a lot less profound. But I suppose that is inevitable. I'm also a little perturbed by the quite astronomical amounts he charges for private readings/seminars etc. On the other hand, he is a pioneer for the 21st century and is merely reaping what he, himself, has sown.
A fantastic introduction, then, to talking with the dead. And, although I don't agree with everything he says - especially about psychic protection and psychic vampires (!) - his development tapes and CDs are also well worth getting hold of.
