Summary: Its the next best thing to having a Bible Scholar next to yo
Review: An excellent explanation of the Bible. Answers many questions that the lay reader is likely to have. Most lay people do not have the time and the energy to do exhaustive studies of the bible. The study guides and annotations provided help us understand marvelously!I do wish the book was printed on better paper. Many times, the ink on one page is visible on the next and even the page following.

Summary: Most informative study bible I have found!!!!!!!
Review: As a Christian who is eager to understand GOD's word, I have found more help from this book than any other. It is a very complete study bible and the verse notes are great. A real must have for anyone trying to understand or learn GOD's word

Summary: Rediscover the Bible and get answers to the tough questions
Review: As a young Catholic, I was not encouraged enough to become familiar with the Bible. Now, in my adulthood, I have reapproached my faith and found that many unanswered questions from my adolescence remained. The Bible can be a perplexing book, but the Quest version helps clarify confusing cultural references and puts the stories in their proper historical context for deeper understanding of the Scriptures. I heartily recommend this Bible to both seekers and "old" Christians alike.

Summary: Extremely Educational!
Review: As the daughter of a preacher I didn't think I would ever find a resource for my biblical questions once my father passed away. Then I received The Quest Study bible as a gift. It truly is the next best thing to being able to call my father up and pick his brain. A must have for beginners and versed alike.

Summary: This Bible is like a Discussion
Review: Every time I read the Bible, questions form in my mind. With the Quest Study Bible, the questions are written out and answered right on the same page as the scripture itself. It seems my questions are not so unusual. Apparently many people struggle to understand the very things I wonder about. It is a great Bible for those new to Scripture and/or new to the faith. Often, when people are unable to understand what the Bible says, they give up. The Quest Study Bible gives very satisfactory explanations for difficult to comprehend passages. What I have most enjoyed about this Bible, is being able to answer the questions my children ask. They now think I am very knowledgable. And I have been satisfied with every explanation I have come across in this Bible. I consider it a highly valuable study aid and I recommend it without reservation.

Summary: Highly recommended
Review: For this life-long Episcopalian, this study Bible has been very helpful. The NIV translation is easy to read, and the side notes and articles have taught me a lot about what I am reading. There are a lot of interesting historical facts as well as many theological comments from different points of view. Buy it!

Summary: Good, but do not make it your primarely study tool
Review: Good, but do not make it your primarely study tool. This Bible is the thing from which you can quickly grow up, especially if you are going to be serious student. Maybe it is nice for the beginners with some denomenational exceptions.

Summary: Lutheran Minister #1 back again (see review 2below Minister2
Review: Hi again. :-)

Yeah, in retrospect, I agree with Lutheran minister #2. There are some notes in this Bible that I don't really agree with. I'm changing my score to 4 stars. :-)

About the other Bibles he speaks of--I've also recently discovered the Concordia Self-study Bible, and I really like it. In fact, I think I'll go write a review for it right now. As for the New Oxford Annotated Bible, it's my all-time favorite. Look for a NEW revision of it to come from Oxford in about 18 months (September 2000, I suppose). I don't know what the revisions will be, but it should be wonderful. I'm gonna buy the leatherbound version. :-)

Also, that Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible is really nice, too. Make sure you get the NASB version (more literal) rather than the NIV. I have nothing against the NIV, but a literal translation obviously lends itself better to that sort of thing (showing the actual Greek or Hebrew words in Romanized letters with definitions, explanations, etc).
