Summary: My thoughts on this package
Review: I was given this book/cd as a Christmas present from an ex-lover. While I generally agree with all of the reviews that are posted here, I will tell you that the song makes me really sad and I've stopped playing it. Please don't let that discourage you from purchasing this item, because it is nicely done.

Summary: as moving as the song
Review: I'm thrilled to see the books that are coming out that are tied to songs that move us. This book is wonderful and I've read it a dozen times at least. As a songwriter, I love to read books that expand upon songs. Live Like You Were Dying has two books out that are also wonderful. One is a lyric book with inspirational thoughts about life. The other one is a novel that expands upon the story inside the song. Please keep these types of books coming! They make listening to the song more meaningful.

It'll make you smile, it'll make you cry and it will make you realize that you do deserve to dance. It's big on heart and great for a loved one who is going through a difficult time in their lives. Summary: Really Touched My Heart
Review: My last child is leaving the nest after graduation this year. When I saw this book I thought it would make the perfect gift for her, as she is also a dancer. When I opened the book and started to read, I also started to cry. With every page turned I lost more tears. It said everything I felt and everything I wanted to tell my Daughter as she left home, but didn't know how to put it into words. As she read the book, she also started to cry. I know when times get tough for her, she will pick up this book and know that she is loved and also has a home to return to. This is a wonderful book to give ANY special person in your life.As we all have dreams and hopes for our children.

Summary: a never ending inspiration
Review: my parents gave this book to me last year before my first piano recital. i had been playing piano for a long time but had never actually preformed, and now my teacher was having me, a freshmen in highschool, play at a recital where everyone else was in college. i was completely nervous and unsure that i would be able to play up to the same level as the college students. she handed me a gift bag and when i saw the book inside (i had heard the song before and knew what it was about) i was really touched and knew that my parents really supported and believed in me. when i read it after the recital that night lying in my bed and listening to the song on the cd that came with it, i cried almost the entire length of the book. it's indescribable how awesome it felt to be loved that much. since then i have read it every once in awhile when something has got me down or im doubting myself and it always inspires me. this is definitely a book to give to someone you love to help give them hope and a stronger belief in themselves.

Summary: Give it a chance...I hope you dance.
Review: Simply the best. Anytime someone can put a 64 page book together and then market it for [price] you just have to take a moment and applaud them.

Seriously. I purchased two. One for my high school grad son and one for his mother. Who I figured put as much effort into son's success in graduating as son did.

Did you notice? The book has two different covers. One version shows a little boy on a swing and the other a little blonde girl. This way son can open said grad gift, at his graduation party, without having to suffer the embarrasment of having to own a book with a little girl on the cover. (Hey, give me credit for even noticing this minor detail.) And I did too take note of several grad cards with little girls on the cover...except those little girls were about 12 years older. But that's cool. The kid's going to college next year. He needs to be exposed to these things.

This hit book is the hit song. Very inspirational. Very moving. Very well worth the money for value given and recieved. So I hope you dance right on into the book store [...] and buy multipul copies of I Hope You Dance. I just wish I could figure out how I could sell my books for [price] and only have to write 64 tiny pages.

Summary: Decided not to wait until my funeral
Review: Since the first time I heard Lee Ann Womack's song "I Hope You Dance" I wanted this to be the message I gave to my son, daughter and granddaughter. I told my husband and children that I wanted this either sung or read at my funeral for them. Then I found this book. I gave a copy to my daughter for her 23rd birthday and she was both deeply touched and excited that I gave this tribute now. Since there is a place in the front of the book to give a short special message and the bonus of the CD in the back I found this to be a perfect gift not only for my children but also to anyone who needs encouragement. I am now ordering a copy for my son.
