Rating: Summary: Illusions is a gift of freedom, don't pass it up. Review: Reading Illusions was like turning the pages of my soul, opening up, and finally discovering my freedom and power. The book illuminated me and I grew more in that few hours than I had in all the rest of my life. Suddenly I realized, I had the answers all along, I just needed some validation. I then read Jonathan Livingston Seagull and just wept. It was the happiest moment of my life. Richard Bach, thank you!!! I once met Richard at a book signing. I say I met him, because he touched everyone personally. His presence filled the huge room. If I had met him just after reading it, I might have clung to him like those in the book who needed The Master to tell them what was expected of them. I'm glad I got to meet him after years of practicing what I had learned and hearing my own voice. I met him as an equal and it was glorious :)
Rating: Summary: Thanks Richard ! Review: I love this book, and have given away many copies. ( The reason I'm on Amazon.com is to buy more copies to give away.) Thank you, Richard Bach. I only wish that someone would make this into a movie, so that those who refuse to read could also get the message.
Rating: Summary: Have to add... Review: I have no words to add that would especially be unique from anyone else's experiences with this book. But Illusions has impacted my life so amazingly, I had to add my own few lines of humble thanks to Richard Bach for changing so many lives...impacting each person's world. I am graduating in a few weeks, and have been writing "Argue for your limitations and sure enough...they're yours." on all my senior pictures. I want everyone to experience at least a tidbit of the life changing wisdom contained within such a small and innocent looking novel.
Rating: Summary: share this book Review: I am touched by the number of people who have written reviews on one of the most important books I have ever read. They all (except 1) reflect my feelings about "Illusions" and I am glad that this book is being shared not only by me but by countless others. I will read it again and again. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: 3 dollar ride Review: Illusions was a wonderful read. It was a real page turner. Bach's characters are brutally ellegant. The character Richard the aprentic messiah was wimsical in his disbelief and his fally. While donald showed patients and selfishness. These two charecters foil each other well. The setting of the story while abstract is very vivid and real. several things involved in the storie elements are intriging. Imagin Christ as a buddhist munk punching holes in the plains of reality, on a whistle stop tour through American farmland selling peice of mind and 10 minuet plane rides for 3 dollars a person. This book is crisp in its ideas. The radio call in program near the climax of the story is a clincher and argument between Donald a mesiah and callers from all over the midwest. In all i think the book is about directions in life and the misunderstandings involved. It is also a tale of involentary lessons learned by chance. I'd recomend this book to any one except the closed minded Pete Tuura
Rating: Summary: One of the Greatest Books Ever Written Review: This book has changed my life and the way I live it. I first read it while I was in college and have read it many times since. It is a book for anyone questioning life and their place in it. But be Careful, this book has very powerful ideas, and although I totally agree with one of its main points: "That we are all free to do WHATEVER we want!", keep in mind that there may be severe consequences for the actions we choose. The book questions our pre-conceived beliefs on what reality really is and does so beautifully. Each time I read Illusions, I seem to learn something new, as if the book is changing as my circumstances change. Read it!!!
Rating: Summary: Just fantastic Review: I have just recently read this book and it was one of the best i ever read. This life philosophy is amazing, I love it.
Rating: Summary: A Timeless Treasure Review: Like so many others, I too have seen countless copies of this treasure pass through my hands. Thinking about it now, I'm certain that I'll sit down and read it again for the 15th? time this afternoon. This book is a gift. Keep sharing it.
Rating: Summary: How wonderfully refreshing! Review: I found this book while I was in college and have treasured it! I cannot count the number of copies I've shared with friends. Donald Shimoda is one of my fictional heros...he belongs right up there with Master Li from "Bridge of Birds"! Although all the quotes in the book are useful, the one I use most is: "Everything in this book may be wrong!" How delightfully refreshing for a character (author) to admit he might NOT have all of life's answers! "Illusions" belongs on everyone's bookshelf!
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! Review: The insight and understanding from this book is so profound. I myself have experienced some of this phenomena. Such as the clouds...it's a beginning! Reading a book like this is inspiring to my inner soul!!!!! Thanks Richard for your dedication for writing your piece and thanks to Scott who led me to the pages of this wonderful creation!!!!!
