Summary: Most extensive listing of rocks, crystals, minerals
Review: I have been searching all over for the Love Is in the Earth book that had an extensive listing of rocks, minerals, crystals and finally this is it!

If you are interested in rocks, minerals, crystals, this book is a good reference! Contains some information about mineral families and chemical compositions as well as healing properties. Melody has many great books, but I hope one day, she can update this version (which I like) to include pictures of the various rocks, minerals, crystals. Now I am looking for the right Melody book of pictures to go along as a companion for this one.

Summary: THE DEFINITIVE BOOK ON CRYSTALS
Review: I have had this book for nearly a decade... maybe more. It has highlights and markings from my continual referencing of it. I have found that the qualities the author cites stones to have are quite accurate. More than a dozen times, after periods of wearing certain crystals (in jewelry) I would note certain changes in my life. Then out of curiosity, I would look up the crystal in this book and guess what? Those changes in my life, attitude, health, etc. are right there on the page as properties of the crystal.

I've learned two things after 12 years of crystal healing:

1. You can change your life for the better by choosing to use crystals that have the attributes for which you are looking.

2. If you find yourself drawn to a certain crystal, odds are that if you look it up in this book, you will find qualities in that stone are very specific to what you need in your life at that moment in time.

Summary: A Treasure Of A Book!
Review: I have owned this mineral "bible" for more than 6 years now and I always need to consult it before purchasing any crystal for my own energy development. It's unearthly how Melody (the author) has access to the most incredible metaphysical information about every possible mineral known to mankind. It's as if she's the goddess writing up chapters over chapters on every mineral's existence. Truly a remarkable author and 5 stars is really beneath the priceless treasure this book holds. She's what the late Scott Cunningham is to wicca as she is to minerals. Her other pictorial book is a must have accompaniment!

Summary: Expansive interpretation of crystal energy
Review: I like this book because it opens one to the possibilities. She is working from all sorts of anecdotal sources to give a very broad range of possibilities for the uses of many different crystals. Metaphysical and spiritual properties cannot be pinned down as - "this crystal is only good for this and this", and therefore a book such as this is useful to help the reader expand their sense of what is possible in working with crystals. A more structured, straight-line approach would not be nearly as useful as this book is. Highly recommended as a starting point and inspiration for imagining the possibilities in building an alliance with crystals.

Summary: The crystal reference measuring stick!
Review: If only all the myriads of authors would take a cue from this format! The table of contents/index is clear & detailed right down to the types under a main heading. An astrological association is beside the name and a brief intro section on the numerology is included. Since some stones are known by different variants of names, there can be some differences in the numerological association. That said, this is the only book that bothered to figure them up for you & trying to include every possible trade name would be confusing & an updater's nightmare! If you don't feel comfortable with "large words" then you may have to re-read a few sentences sometimes, but HEY, expanding your vocabulary can't hurt either. The Mineralogical Pictorial shows specimens of every stone listed in this book. Note: mineralogical refers to the specimen being "in the rough" not polished, tumbled, or faceted. The 2 Pictorial Supplements add new specimens- usually new or unusual color variations along with a few stones previously unlisted.

Summary: An excellent reference work
Review: If you are interested in the metaphysical properties of crystals and minerals, this is the book for you. Contains some mineralogical info as well, but focuses mainly on the metaphysical attributes. Well worth the money.

Summary: The bible of metaphysical gems and crystals.
Review: If you need to know about a particular gem or crystal with regard to it's metaphysical properties, it's in there! It's a must have reference for anyone who is serious about knowing and applying the properties of crystals and gem stones.

Summary: Love is in the Book !!
Review: Melody's book is extraordinary and outstanding in the field of metaphysical properties of crystals. You will use "Love is in the Earth" as a standard reliable reference to many kinds of crystals and gemstones, minerals and metals, from Amazonite (no relation to Amazon.com)to Zoisite. The information is succinct in identifying the numerological and astrological significance of each crystal, including physical, emotional and psycho-spiritual meanings. My one beef about "Love is in the Earth" is that Melody includes many crystals not generally available at crystal stores, through gemmologists, rock shops, or gem and mineral clubs. In fact, a few gemmologists told me that some of the names used in the book are different than their field names, making it difficult to identify and locate. Some are even so rare that trying to get these elaborate crystals is next to impossible. So, be aware that you may not get some of the crystals mentioned in the book! Aside from that, "Love is in the Earth" is a valuable tool to anyone needing to know the esoteric healing properties of gems and minerals.
