Rating: Summary: Love is in the Book !! Review: Melody's book is extraordinary and outstanding in the field of metaphysical properties of crystals. You will use "Love is in the Earth" as a standard reliable reference to many kinds of crystals and gemstones, minerals and metals, from Amazonite (no relation to Amazon.com)to Zoisite. The information is succinct in identifying the numerological and astrological significance of each crystal, including physical, emotional and psycho-spiritual meanings. My one beef about "Love is in the Earth" is that Melody includes many crystals not generally available at crystal stores, through gemmologists, rock shops, or gem and mineral clubs. In fact, a few gemmologists told me that some of the names used in the book are different than their field names, making it difficult to identify and locate. Some are even so rare that trying to get these elaborate crystals is next to impossible. So, be aware that you may not get some of the crystals mentioned in the book! Aside from that, "Love is in the Earth" is a valuable tool to anyone needing to know the esoteric healing properties of gems and minerals.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!!! Review: This book has created a strong interest in crystals and their uses. I have started studying more about crystals. It's fasinating!!! Keep up the good work, Melody!!
Rating: Summary: This single book is an incredible reference for crystals. Review: This book has MANY things going for it.the author discusses various types of crysyals (clusters, dendric, gateway, generator, manifestation, obelisk, etc). Then goes on to other sections (acquiring, dedication, cleansing, awakening, charging, programming, meditation, protection, making elixirs, etc). Then the larger portion of the book is used to list the properties of hundreds of different kinds or stones. The author even goes so far to list the astrological sign, and which number the stones are associated with. This book is an incredible resource for information about crystals; but I have three little nitpicks. 1. The Author lists the use of salt water to cleanse your crystals on page 54. I do not recommend this method because salt is a corrosive agent, and repeated cleansing in salt water could break down the lattice structure of crystals. I DO recommend cleansing stones by the following methods. a. smudging them in the smoke of a purifying herb or incense. b. placing the crystals in sunlight. c. burrying them in the ground so the negative energies can be transmuted. 2. I wish the author had listed the hardness of the assorted stones. This way you could use assorted stones of similar hardness so they did not damage one another. It would not be wise to carry a peice of Clear Quartz in a pocket with a peice of Moldavite. Moldavite is only 5.5 on the hardness scale where Quartz is a 7.0, Boji stones are 7.4. Ruby is 9, and Diamond is 10. 3. This book with 700+ pages is quite difficult to hold and read. So I would recommend that you read about the first 100 pages that discusses the assorted types of crystals, programming crystals, cleansing crystals, etc; then set the book on the shelf and use it as a reference guide when you want to find the properties of the assorted crystals as you acquire them. Aloha nui loa (I love you very much)
Rating: Summary: Text from the Sixties Beautiful People genre Review: This book is not recommended as far as the attributes of crystals, and does a dis-service. If you will read Melody's books, you'll understand why there are so many vaiables attached to any one crystal (the meanings go on and on and on). It's because Melody believes in positive thought and believes that by positive thought, everything good will occur and nothing bad will happen, which is okay but there must be a factual element involved too. This is a book about positive thought and not crystals. It was written by someone without a degree in mineralogy or crystology, and she could have used pebbles outside to achieve the purpose that she is promoting. Concerning the book, the scientific information is somewhat accurate because this information is from R. Jackson or other geological texts. Melody has no degree at all in mineralogy and only believes in one thing. She could have used examples of refrigerators instead of crystals, it really makes no difference. It is not truth, and please be a bit discerning as to what is in this book. It is not truth by even the far sense of the word.

Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Reference! Review: This book is very complete - but does not have any photos of the stones. It is still a very valuable resource on every type of crystal, stone, and mineral imaginable, but it would help to have photos to identify them if you are not familiar with them already. The companion volume, A Mineralogical Pictoral, is meant to accompany this volume, I assume. But I highly recommend this book for the vast information it offers.
Rating: Summary: The reference for crystals & minerals Review: This is my main "reference" book on crystal and mineral properties. I couldn't be without it and I recommend it to all those who are newly on the journey into crystals.
Rating: Summary: Best comprehensive reference on minerals and their uses Review: This is one of the only books I have seen that includes so many minerals with their uses. Some explanations are a little sketchy (but understandable considering the size and content of the book). This is now my primary reference book for crystals and minerals.
Rating: Summary: Best book on stones on market, but needs more detail Review: This is the most complete books on metaphysical uses of stones sold today. However, some stones that have good uses are not covered, and uses for certian color of some stones are not listed. Her new supplement that is out covers some stones and uses for various color of stones that were missed.
Rating: Summary: A to Z of Crystals Review: This marvellous reference work tells you everything about the metaphysical properties and use of crystals. The chapter Configurations describes the shapes and structures of the mineral kingdom, from the Ankh to the Window Crystal. There are chapters on Numerical Vibrations, Master Numbers and Preparatory Methodology, which serve as guides for those who wish to speed up their progress on the spiritual path. The last mentioned chapter deals with acquiring, dedicating, cleansing, awakening, charging and programming your crystals. The chapter Practical Applications provides information on crystal meditation, protection, elixirs and how to treat food, plants, your car and your aura with crystals. The chapter Additional Definitions serves as a glossary of terms, from Akashic Records to Yin-Yang. The main body of the book consists of an alphabetical list of crystals and their properties, from Acanthite to Zunyite. Here the appearance of the stone and its metaphysical and healing qualities are discussed. Astrological correspondences and numbers are also provided. The book has a beautiful cover painting, Crystals Of Life, by Charley Berryhill and concludes with a thorough index. It is a very useful and extensive guide to crystals. My only complaint is the lack of photographs or illustrations that would facilitate the identification of individual stones.
