Summary: Do not buy this book
Review: I bought this book based on review on this website regarding this book. Intially the translation looks good which was another reason to buy this book, however when reading further, it turns out that this author calms himself to be a prophet and he explains very mathematically how his name is mentioned in the Quran. He uses the same logic and mathematics to prove that quran is a multiple of 19. His number 19 theory is inconsistant. He trys hard to join surahs, verses etc just so that they fit a multiple of 19 He claims that the world will end in 2280
He claims that all previous translators of quran misentrepeted the quran and he is the only true translator
He claims that people who die under 40 years old go to lower heaven, and anyone older goes to higher heaven etc Please stay away from this book. I have just returned it as I don't want my weak iman to get weaker

Review: I did not like this translation, nor do I care for the authors theories about the number 19. It just seems goofy to me. The idea that salvation in the 20th century depends on some mathematical code is offensive to reason.

Summary: Qusetionable and self prompting work.
Review: I found a lot of Discrepancy by the author RASHAD KHALIFA. He did a fair job for translation of the Quran but few things he stated are questionable and false.
1) That Mohammed wrote the Quran, It is known fact that Mohammed was illiterate he can't read nor write. His follower who memorized the Quran, after the angel recite it to Mohammed. His followers wrote it down after Mohammed death.
2) That Moslems Pray to Mohammed that is wrong we mention Mohammed as a messenger from God. We only pray to one God. ALLAH is God. Arab Christians and Arab Jews in Arabic refer to God as ALLAH in their prayer.
3) That human being is given forty years to study. That's not true, we are accountable for our mischief when we reach manhood or womanhood, but God will forgive us if we repent and stop doing sins.
4) claiming he is messenger and trying to proof it and inserting his name in the Quran by adjusting some formula, How come no one before him discover it before he stated it...?
5) claiming that some sura added to the Quran.
6) It is a confusing work. If you need to study the Quran or Islam pick other books by Abdullah Yusuf Ali or Nooruddin.

Summary: The only salvation is one God
Review: I have lived all my life as a sunni muslim, and I thank God for his blessings that he bestowed upon me that this book educated me into true enlightment of what being a muslim is all about. I highly recommend this book to anyone!!! I am sure the sunnis will be very doubtful at first like I was, but through self education reading the book from cover to cover and visiting www.submission.org you will see the awesome truth. I might still have some doubts about things but im sure its a natural feeling that everyone would encounter when revealed the truth after years and years of lies and believing that the lies taught was the truth. I thank God, and may God bless every single one of you who purchases this book. Trust me, it will turn you around into the light and truth... Glory to God!!!

Summary: I didn't like it.
Review: I purchased this book in good faith that it actually was an officilly authorized English version of the Quran. After showing it to my history professor, he informed me that an authorized English version of the Quran does not exist (bummer right?). I'm not a scholar on the Quran or it's doctrine, and I think it contains certain truths, but as a reader I feel fully justified in what I'm about to say. I honestly felt sick to my stomach reading Dr. Khalifa's translation. I read it to learn more about the Muslim faith and for research for a paper. Reading this was not a pleasant experience, and right now I'm looking elsewhere for a better translation. At this point I'm ready to learn Arabic and read the original version. As for any claim Dr. Khalifa might have as a prophet, well, every reader should decide for themself. However, personally I'm a fan of what Christ says in the Bible, "Ye shall know them by their fruits" (see Matthew 7:16). From reading Dr. Khalifa's translation (especially the introduction), I don't believe he was God's messenger.

Anyone with any depth knowledge of Islam and Quran, knows this translation is a slanderous attempt to innovate in a religion that has existed for centuries before Khalifa Rashad and will continue for centuries to come. His so-called mathemetical code was invented before him as it is known in Islamic world, although a few place any value in it. For the true Quran, holds a spiritual and intellectual value that exceeds putting faith behind one formula.
My biggest problem with this book, is this individual decided to omit two verses just because it did not suit him and his cunning mission. Second, his idea that we are all submitters has no basis in Islam and is against the main principle of Islam: There is one god worthy of worship that is Allah and Mohammad is His final prophet and messenger. So the idea that a christian, jewish, hindu or buddhist submitter are equal is a baseless and an insult to every muslim. Does it make sense that people who dedicate themselves to Allah's word day and night are as equal as those who chose other paths?

Summary: Very clear readable translation. Annoying modern commentary.
Review: Note: my rating here is for THIS EDITION, not an attempt to rate the Quran itself. I am not an expert on the Quran nor on Islam; in fact I bought this book so that I could read the Quran for the first time. Nor do I speak or read Arabic. So my comments are those of an uninformed reader who is trying to learn. Expert readers may have a different perspective. The translation uses clear modern English and is unconfusing. As far as I can tell it is a very good quality translation. The translator wisely chose to use modern words and spellings rather than older ones that might confuse the reader. Occasionally the wording is even quite witty. For me, the translation is the real strength of this edition. This edition includes a very detailed set of information on a mathematical pattern or "code" that the translator/scholar has discovered in the Quran's choice of words and structure. I cannot comment on whether this is true or not, but if you want to read about this phenomenon, this would be a good edition to choose. The layout of the pages is not the best. On each page the original Arabic is inset as a single "block" (like an illustration), with the English text above, to one side, and below. For someone focusing on the English text this layout is annoying. Also, too much of each page is devoted to unnecessary elements like a black border around the page. You may think I'm nit-picking, but it does get annoying after a while. More annoying, though, is the translator's frequent insertion of headings and commentaries that are NOT part of the original text, but rather, his attempts to explain or interpret. Occasionally this is extremely helpful, since a few references may be hard to follow without an explanation. But sometimes it comes across as extremely distracting or even biased. In the worst cases, the heading seems to have little to do with the Quranic text that follows, emphasizing a relatively obscure aspect of the meaning instead of letting you read for yourself and consider the meaning that you see. Similarly, while some of the footnotes add very helpful clarifications, others refer to modern interpretations or details that are not based directly on the original text, and still others are really minor notes that distract from attempts to focus on the text. Furthermore, the scholar's eagerness to point out instances of the mathematical pattern in the wording keeps interrupting the natural flow of reading. A lot of this material might be better moved to appendices (of which there are already many). By the way, this is in fact a paperback, not a hardcover book. These nuisances are not serious enough to take away from the clear, sharp translation, but they are enough to reduce the excellence of this version below what it could have been.

Summary: The Most Perverted & Distorted Translation
Review: Succinctly, this translation is nothing than a devilish effort of desecrating God's Word. Numerous changes have been made in the meaning of the Quran, and several verses are manipulated in order to bolster the author's claim of Messengerhood. First and foremost, Khalifa is the first charlatan to claim as God's Messenger without any scripture while God says in the Quran that "Kulli Ajalin Kitaab" [13:38] (i.e. For every term there is a Scripture). This verse implies that God vouchsafes a Scripture for every new term of a Messenger, and since Khalifa did not bring any Scripture for his Apostolic term, he must be a false Messenger. To deceive the innocent readers who do not have access to the original Arabic codex of the Quran, he translated 13:38 as "..and in accordance with a specific, predetermined time... " which is not a translation but rather an INTERPRETATION, the Arabic phrase "Kulli Ajalin Kitaab (Lit; for every term") does not endorse this interpolation. Another distortion is to be found in 5:3 for the Classical Arabic term "Dhakaa" which primarily denotes the 'mode of slaughtering an animal at the side of jugular vein'. The verse is talking about the method of killing an animal mentioned in the first part of 5:3 in order to make it lawful for consumption, but Khalifa's distortion makes the meaning vague and obscure. Please note that eventhough this Devil rejected the Prophet's Word and Statement (Hadith), he managed to manipulate the latter in order to remove so-called 'false verses' from the Quran (9:128-129). By doing this he has proven himself to be a hypocrite. One of Prophet Muhammad's duty as God's Messenger is "to EXPLAIN what has been revealed to Mankind [i.e. the Quran]" as stated in 16:44 & 16:64, thus the Prophet's explanation of the Divine Writ is validated and authorized by God himself. Since the Prophet's explanations are to be found in his Hadith (Lit; statement, speech), Khalifa was dumbfounded thus he resorted to change the meaning of the verb "BAYYIN" (i.e. to explain, to make clear, to expound") as "to point out". He also changed the Arabic noun "Khumor" (Lit; head-coverings) in 24:31 as "to cover their chests" in order to deceive the readers that the donning of head-covering is not to be found in the Quran. His mistake by translation 24:31 as such is that the word "chests" is nowhere to be found in the Arabic text of Quran. The word used by God in that verse is "Juyoob" denoting the neck-slits of garments (i.e. collars). The chests are already covered according to that verse, so khalifa's claim falls flat. He repeats the similar mistake in 33:59 in which he translated it as "lengthen their garments." The verse literally says "...they shall draw their Jalaabib OVER their persons." Jalaabib is the plural of Jilbaab, which lexically means "a broad, long and loose VEILING SHEET that is extensive enough to garb the entire body and is usually worn as an outer-garment above ordinary clothes". To make it simple, this translation is not a faithful translation. Readers ought to verify the meanings above by referring to any Arabic-English dictionary or lexicon. I would like to correct the claim made by some readers here that Khalifa was a native Arab. Rashad Khalifa was an Egyptian not an Arab. In other words, he was a native of North Africa. Egyptians were never Arabs though they speak the language. If Egyptians were Arabs than Pharaoh would had been the first one :P Arabs are those from the Jazeerah (Arabian Peninsula).

Review: there are too many well written reviews detailing Quran's contents and the proofs therein for me to justify repeating them. i will only submit my agreement. this book has doubtless led me out of the darkness into light. had to order more. gave mine away. i would give away the next, and the next, ad infinitum. Read.
