Summary: Decide!
Review: This book certainly has a unique style, unseen in any other translation. The textual simplicity could be understood by a child. This can be especially invaluable to the non-Muslim student of religous texts, and will provide a great challenge to the traditional Muslim with its comprehensive takes on Islam. As for the author, then there is none other with such understanding as Rashad Khlaifa has displayed.

He was the first to discover a mathematical construct in the Quran with profound results, results that could challenge the most ardent mathematician into regress, thus he (the mathematician) is left stumped only into submitting all due credit to such a phenomenal work that is the Quran.

A book for all, a message for all and a free choice for all...

Summary: Book for your life.
Review: This book is translated into a version of english that is easy to understand....FINALLY! All the other english translations of the Quran are written with old elizabethan english. Those are impossible for me to understand and english is my first language. Excellent translation, wonderful, superb, the BEST!

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: This is a really awesome book by Rashad Khalifa. I've read a lot of english translation, and so far this is the best translation of the Quran. Most of the others quran have so many footnotes which include a lot of baseless hadith. Most of the translators try to explain the Quran by hadith, but Quran doesn't need any explanations. But other translators have made it really hard to not to use hadith and this is the only Quran I read which has just a couple of small footnotes, instead of the lengthy, confusing footnotes other translators have in their translations. This translation is AWESOME.

Summary: Poor translation: Not for those seeking the truth on Islam
Review: This translation is extremely deceptive and is not for those who want to learn about Islam. It is by a man who left Islam and started his own movement.

Good translations recommended by most Muslims is by Marmaduke Picthall, Mohsin Khan, Abdullah Yusuf Ali or A. Daryabadi.

Rashad Khalifa's translation is also poor. He selects words to suit his ideas and does not do justice to the translation. He also tends to translate the same word differently to agree and befit his movement. He was obsessed with numerology and among his outrageous, laughable claims was predicting the end of the world and anyone who dies under the age of 40 is innocent.

I would recommend to those interested in learning about Islam to avoid this translation as it goes against the beliefs and practices of mainstream Islam

Summary: The best English translation by a wide, wide margin
Review: This translation is simply the best English translation of the Quran. It is simple, pick any other translation and compare verse by verse. All other English translations do not even make sense. They are writen in poor English and they show extremely poor understanding of the Quran.
It is understood by all muslims and acknowledged by the author that this translation is not a replacement of the original Arabic. Nevertheless it is a breakthrough in revealing the Quran in English.

Summary: God's words
Review: This translation of the Quran by Dr. Rashad Khalifa PhD is rendered in simple and easy-to-understand English. It has none of the highfalutin language of other translations which make them incomprehensible.
In it, you will also discover proof of an overwhelmingly miraculous numerical code proving that the Quran is the word of God. It baffles every mathematician and will make you believe.
This code challenges the traditionally-held beliefs of the "Muslim" world. What is being practiced today by the so-called Muslims has nothing to do with the teachings of the Quran.
Submission (Islam in Arabic) i.e submission to the will of God is not a new religion of a few thousand years. It is the oldest system of belief that existed from the time of Adam. Submission, as revealed in the Quran, is a culmination of all the religious teachings including Judaism and Christianity. It accepts the Biblical messengers including Abraham, David, Solomon, Moses, Jesus etc. as God's messengers.
In addition to these, from this translation, we get to appreciate the fact that God has sent messengers to every community with the same message. For example, note the reference to the Gayatri Mantra from the Hindu scriptures. The messengers, the locations and the eras were different, the message remained the same - worship God ALONE.
Submission is for everybody who wants to submit to the will of God and enjoy the benefits of the Hereafter. Obviously, a religion created by God could not have the complicated and conflicting requirements being adhered to today. All you need to be a Submitter is to believe in one God, believe in the Hereafter and lead a righteous life. The Quran - and this translation particularly - shows you how. You must get it now!

Summary: Controversial
Review: This translation of the Quran has accounted for so much controversy and debate. It is for this very reason that I think its purpose has not been fulfilled; to be a universally accepted translation. I'll breifly outline the facts surrounding this controversy.
First of all, Rashad Khalifah says he is a messenger of Allah; this translation being that message. He says 3:81 in the Quran prophesises his messengership and that this should not be confused with prophethood.

I believe his initial aim was to say that the hadiths should not be followed as if they are the word of God. Many muslims agree with this notion, and it does make sense, because the hadiths have been responsible for a lot of innovation and rule-making into Islam, something which Allah forbids. The Quran should indeed be the first and only point of reference for a muslim.

This has been widely mooted as a very readable translation, and, yes it certainly is.

The main controversy has been centred around the commentary: Khalifah says, or interprets that any one who dies under the age of forty will go to heaven (He quotes Malcolm X and Martin Luther as having been pious men and dying before their fourtieth birthdays); he also has his views on punishment under shariah law and that the computer is the 'creature' described in 27:82.

Now, these are all his own views, and I wouldn't have a problem with them as long as they didn't interfere with the actual word of God.

Rashad Khalifah says he discovered a mathematical framework to the Quran where the frequency of certain letters is divisible by 19. He ommited two verses from the Quran to substantiate this theory.

This theory stems from surah 74, Al-Muddaththir , where the number 19 is mentioned. He is the first translator to change the context of the number 19 mentioned in this surah, and indeed you'll find the wording he uses in this surah will differ compared to other translations. People have taken 19 to be the number of angels gaurding hell, whereas Khalifah takes it as a link to his theory.

(Now, these are all his own views, and I wouldn't have a problem with them as long as they didn't interfere with the actual word of God.)

Rashad Khalifah says that as part of his duty as messenger of the covenant, he will predict judgement day (the year 2280 I believe).

It clearly says in the Quran, surah 20, verse 15, that Allah will keep the timing of the end of the world hidden.

According to rashad khalifah, this verse reads:
'The Hour (end of the world) is surely coming; I will keep it almost hidden, for each soul must be paid for its works.'

'Almost' hidden?!
