Rating: Summary: What a delight! Review: "Just David" is a wonderfully delightful book. It shows the beauty of innocence. I love music and believe this book shows the power that good music can have on the lives of others. My daughter and I are both learning to play the violin. I am, in part, because of David's passion for expressing himself through his violin. My mother-in-law had me read it in October of 1999. Since then I have purchased several copies to give as gifts and, of course, bought one for myself! I purchased from a company called Whole Heart Ministries in Texas. If you would like more information e-mail me.

Rating: Summary: A Treasure of a Book! Review: As the other reviewers, I was given the book, by an aunt, back in the 60's when I was in seventh grade. She said she had been searching for a copy for me to read because she had loved it. I remember doing a book report on it for my 7th grade English class (I got an A)--and it was one book I never forgot. I thought it was out of print & had been looking for it for years at garage sales and used book stores. Now I will have a copy to pass on to my new grandson. It is a special treasure of a book!
Rating: Summary: Eleonar Porter's Greatest! Review: David is a most unusually happy, contented, naive, talented and loving boy. Almost everyone tries to change him, but the only one to stay the same is 'Just David'. Not as famous as her great 'Pollyanna' but nothing more perfectly typifies this wonderful author's warm and tender work. Eleonar Porter writes characters that do not exist - but should.
Rating: Summary: timeless, rich, and wholesome. A joy to read. Review: Ever since I read just david it has been my favorite book. I have been fortunate enough to find some old copies at yard sales and estate sales. When I have had an extra copy I have given it to my dearest friends. I am always on the lookout for another copy. It's wholesome, pure, and innocent approach to life was an oasis in the dry literary desert I sometimes find myself in. sometimes I begin to think that noone knows that Eleanor Porter wrote anything but "Polyanna". I think "Just David" was the best of her works. If I can't find an old copy a reprint would be acceptable. No paper backs though!
Rating: Summary: Just David is about such a pure and innocent magic! Review: I found this book at a yard sale. I bought it because of its name. It is one of the sweetest books I know. It rolls Heidi, Pollyanna, The Little Princess, etc... all into an interesting male version. David has a rare and beautiful gift of playing the violin and for expressing the wonder of life to the people he encounters. He changes everyone around him (Pollyanna) for the better and makes the world a sweeter place.
Rating: Summary: Just David Review: I read Just David in 1968.I was in 5th grade when my mother handed me a book & suggested I might like it. Just David became something special between us. It's a wounderful story of a young boy his father and a journey into life. Over the years I have let many people read my copy and they all leave a note in the book saying what this story meant to them. My copy is very old and not in the best shape. I have it in a safe place.

Rating: Summary: Just David Review: I read this book like all the other reviewers when I was a fifth grader. I read it at my grandma's and I have never forgotten it. It left a lasting impression on me. I am trying to find a copy of it so I can read it to my grandchildren. Anyone who knows of a copy please email me at lorac@whidbey,com. Thank You
Rating: Summary: Just David Review: Just David was a steal for me. I bought it at a Garage Sale along with many other old books. I had it for over a year before I finally read it. It is by far my most favorite book. I love how David always brings out the best in people without actually realizing what he is doing. He is young and the most naive little boy ever. He reminds me a bit of my six year old daughter. She always sees the beauty of something...even bugs. This is the only book I ever recommend. It is a wonderful, delightful, and interesting book. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE! I am so glad it is still in print. I have seen it in many local libraries as well. I have since read other books by Eleanor Porter, but find Just David to be my favorite to date. Most Libraries will loan out there copies...so if not on your library shelf, see if they can find a copy for you to read. Enjoy! Lori
