Summary: My first JC novel... I like...
Review: I like HOLLYWOOD WIVES: THE NEW GENERATION a lot. It was entertaining, funny at times, and of course, outrageous. The only thing that's bad about her novel is the it is poorly edited -- and I mean VERY! I am looking forward to Jackie Collins novels -- except the Santangelos.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Couldn't get through the first chapter
Review: I read a few JC books many years back but quit reading her because there is just no substance. In this book I could tell in the first few pages it was old played out plot with some dirty words thrown in every few pages. I put it down and started something else. I can't imagine struggling through 500 pages of it. Now I remember why I quit reading her books!!

Summary: Is Jackie Capable Of Writing Anything Else?
Review: I read one of her earlier books and then decided to get this one at the library. I am glad I didn't waste my money buying it. Her books are all the same. Beautiful people, beautiful people having affairs, beautiful people in danger, beautiful people living happily ever after. She seriously needs to get out of Hollywood. I couldn't even finish this book it was putting me asleep. I don't think she can write any other type of book, she uses the same formula in all her books. At least other writers change locations and occupations of people. Does she think the rest of America and the world is so wrapped up in Hollywood and what goes on there like she is? If you must read this book get it at the library. Don't waste your money.

Summary: Better than the first!
Review: I read the first Hollywood Wives years back, but I do know that this one totally surpasses the first. It is the story about how wives in Hollywood are anxious to become big on their own, and how being an accessory for the man is no longer enough. Lissa is a big singer/actress (very much like Jennifer Lopez) who can't stay married, and is trying to divorce her psychotic husband number 4. Taylor wrote a script, and has an affair to try to get it onto the movie screen. Stella (playing an extremely minor role in the story) is a woman whose fertilized egg is in a surrogate mother, and it going to be passed as a completely natural birth. And then there's Nicci, Lissa's daughter, who is going to marry Evan, a successful movie producer, even though she would much rather marry his brother.

And finally, there is Eric, who is plotting to kidnap Nicci, and put her up for ransom. It's a spectacular novel that will leave you wanting it to go on forever. And like Thrill! and American Star, there is a captivating romance between Lissa and her Policeman. Read this, and you won't regret it.

Summary: Summer Fun
Review: I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book, as I had not cared much for previous books by this author. But I found it to be a very entertaining, often humorous novel that was fun to read. The characters are largely rich, beautiful, shallow, and not too bright, enabling the reader to feel both envious and superior at the same time.

Considered on its own terms, as mindless summer escapism, this was a good book.

Summary: Drivel
Review: I'm always up for a good beach read, but this was really too much. It was so absolutely cardboard, boring, patently ridiculous that I couldn't even believe it. What a waste of time. If you want to read a light bit of fluff pick up Danielle Steel or Sidney Sheldon instead. This is awful.

Summary: FUN Read!
Review: If you enjoy Jackie Collins, you will enjoy her latest! Take this to the beach, relax in a bath, sit by the pool...this is light, fun and entertaining. Collins does not disappoint and one wonders if there will be a sequel...Collins does not plan on being the next Hemingway, and fans who enjoy her books will breeze through this one. Not heavy on the plot, but heavy enough to keep the reader interested, this is a great holiday/summer read.

Summary: Replay?
Review: If you enjoy reading about sex, cheating spouses, drug abusers, a cast of characters with no depth and a plot that just doesn't add up, then this is the novel for you. If you're like me, you will not enjoy this novel as much as the first Hollywood Wives, there is not much of anything here to enjoy. I just couldn't get a feel for any of the characters. It's amazing how Ms. Collins ties up the story in a neat little package when in fact the story just doesn't make any sense. I've been reading Ms. Collins' work for a long time and this has been the most lacking one to date --- but decide for yourselves!!!

Summary: Great Jackie Collins Reading
Review: If you like Collins, you'll like her latest. She's in form and the entertainment is consistent throughout in the new generation of Hollywood Wives. Collins is to that thing called "Hollywood," what Jane Austin was to early 19th century English country life: a witty, satirical, social commentator. You can visit, but you don't have to live there. (Is it possible for the same person who enjoys Austin to also enjoy Collins? Certainly. Both are brilliant at taking you into their world. Your choice if you want to go there.)
