Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first Review: I really enjoyed Martin's Body Check, but found Fair Play so-so. The hero was adorable, but the heroine was rather irritating. Her determination to like the "other" guy and overlook the perfect guy didn't make sense to me, even after it's explained. It seemed the heroine didn't learn anything from the incident in Fair Play (don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read the first book) and still doesn't look beyond the surface until it's almost too late, and only after the "other" guys flaws become glaringly obvious. Her attitude towards Italian Americans (even though she is one) was annoying and didn't really seemed justified by her childhood or anything else revealed in the book.
Rating: Summary: She shoots she scores Review: I've read a few other hockey romance books and none come close to Deirdre Martins stories. First with "Body Check" which left me counting down the months till "Fair Play" was released. If your looking for romance with a side of hockey this it. She has done an amazing job of making you feel as if your at the hockey game or at the bar or wherever her characters are at. I had this story read in about four days, it's a must read for any hockey lover!!!!
Rating: Summary: Deirdre needs to write faster Review: Waiting a year for another one of Deirdre's stories is to long! I had a hard time waiting for this one, but it was worth the wait. Her books combine two of my favorite things, romance and hockey (my son plays, so I know more about hockey than I ever thought I would). Her characters are real, warm and fun. They act and sound just the people you know. Her hockey knowledge is right on the mark. I'm trying to decide who the next story should be about. She has a long list of intriguing people to choose from, any of whose stories I would love to read.
Rating: Summary: Just as good as the first!!! Review: Deirdre Martin has done it again. I absolutely loved her first book and couldn't wait to read this one. Fair play is as good as Body Check! This book has become one of my favorites mostly because of her ability to relay a wonderful story with romance and the world's greatest sport, Hockey! I can't wait for the next from Deirdre!!
Rating: Summary: Addictive Review: After reading Body Check, I fell in love with Ty and Janna. I was disappointed that their story was over, until I read Fair Play. I simply could not put the book down. I am studying PR and love hockey, so this was a great combination for me. Fair Play was well-written and just like with Body Check, I was disappointed that the story between Michael and Theresa was over. The chemistry between them was so strong that you could not wait until the end to see how it turns out. I cannot wait for the third book!!
Rating: Summary: A good story but, Review: Fair Play by Deirdre Martin was a good story for the most part but the back and forthing between characters got a little annoying after awhile. I like her first few books a little better than this one, but that's just one person's opinion. As a rule I really enjoy the stories written by Deirdre Martin.
Rating: Summary: delightful Review: this book put a smile on my face--deirdre martin is funny! and a great writer to boot.
Rating: Summary: Fair Play? Fantastic Play! Review: Started reading this second book of Martin's on the bus. Other passengers must have thought me crazed with a big smile and frequent snort. Martin's characters and dialogue are so alive. Makes me want to re-read 'Body Check'.
Rating: Summary: thank you! Review: I have been waiting for an author like Ms. Martin to come along for some time. I loooved Body Check, and I love Fair Play more. She has wit, intelligence , and an eye for real people in real relationships. Bravo!Beatrice Williams
Rating: Summary: Thank you Review: I have been waiting for an author like Ms. Martin to come along for awhile. A friend gave me her first book, Body Check, and since then have passed it along to my mother, and bought two more for friends. I was happy that Fair Play is set in Brooklyn, my home town, but even happier that the author once again put her intelligence, wit and eye for realistic human relations in her work. Bravo! I await more from Ms. Martin.
