Rating: Summary: Worth the Wait Review: Dark Melody should also be called Dark Reunion, because many old friends from the previous "Dark" series finally came together to aide Dayan and his pregnant, dying lifemate, Corinne. This book arrived at my house yesterday and I finished it last night. It was everything I expected in a "Dark" book and more. The humorous interaction between the male Carpathians made me chuckle. The determination of the heroine Corinne to live long enough to give her baby a chance at life pulled at your heartstrings. Although all of the "Dark" books are well written, these characters had that something extra that had you rooting for them throughout the whole book. I must admit the secondary heroine, Lisa, with her inability to grasp reality made me want to shake her silly. Especially when because of her, she,Corinne and her baby, and even Cullen (from Dark Fire) were put in mortal danger. You rejoice that Cullen finds love again(even if it is with Lisa). The only bad thing about finishing a Christine Feehan "Dark" book, is having to wait until the next one comes out. But I suppose I can go back and reread the series from start to finish again. It will be like revisiting old friends.
Rating: Summary: Moving but predictable plot! Review: Dark Melody was a moving story but had a predictable plot. I was a tad disappointed (but not much), as a rule I really enjoy this writer.

Rating: Summary: Not dissapointed!! Review: Dayan has walked through the darkness for centuries, waiting for the one woman that would bring him to the light. He has wrote thousands of songs, singing to her, trying to beguile her to coming to him. When he finally finds her, he is shocked by who she is and what she's been through. In all his years of exsistence, Dayan never considered the possibility that his lifemate would come to him dying and pregnant with another man's child.Corinne Wentworth only has one more mission in her life before she dies. And that is to give her baby life. That is all she wants to do, until she meets Dayan. She has always been a person who embraces life, and she is determined to spend her remaining time left with Dayan. Although it seemed as if some of the passages were redundant of her other books, I was touched by the story of Dayan and Corinne. I have waited for this book to come out for a long time, and I wasn't dissapointed. The courage that Corinne had will touch the reader, and the ordeal that they go through to save her and her baby's life brought tears to my eyes. I understand why the other reviews are critical of this book, but I don't agree. Each of Feehan's books have their own unique characters all centered around the same thing...being Carpathian. I don't think there was any way this book could have been better than it was!
Rating: Summary: Dark Melody, another treat for paranormal romance lovers! Review: Dayan is a lead guitarist of the Dark Troubadours and a gifted musician. His voice and gift of music enthralls the listeners. Women adore him, but he lives in a world void of feelings and emotions. World of black and gray. Living in hope that he will meet her, the one that will bring him out of the darkness into the light. His life mate. When Dayan finds himself playing with the local band, his friend and traveling companion Cullen Tucker wonders why. Corrine Wentworth loves music. A music writer and a musician in her own right. Her dear friend and sister-in-law talks her into going to the local club, for some fun. A fan of the Dark Troubadours, she is taken by surprise to see Dayan, one of the lead guitarist playing with the local band. What surprises her even more, is the attraction she has toward Dayan, and his very personal interest in her. After all she is a widow, pregnant with another's man child. The pregnancy that may very well cost her, her life. Now that he has found her Dayan is determent to keep her safe at all costs, not to loose her. He will not let even death take her away from him. The Carpathian healers come together to help Dayan and his life mate, and their unborn child. I found this "Dark" book very emotional. A true love story, with mystery and suspense, even a touch of humor at times. The characters are strong and seem very real. The authors style of writing brings the characters to life. The story line flows and grabs the readers attention to the end. This is a long awaited book for this reader, and I was not disappointed. A wonderful creation, a treat for lovers of paranormal romance. I highly recommend this book. Find a comfortable chair, your copy of Dark Melody, and a box of tissues, then sit back and enjoy. Happy Reading!
Rating: Summary: strong supernatural romance Review: Dayan, the lead guitarist for the Dark Troubadours, mesmerizes his audience with his passionate playing that has every female who watches him desire him. Still he waits for one woman, his lifemate, to appear though he begins to dread that he will never meet her. Still he desperately needs her to refill his empty soul or cross to the dark side. At a gig in a bar he recognizes the one, but ironically her human heart cannot see that this Carpathian is her every reason for living live just like she is his. Dayan meets composer Corrine Wentworth, who is a widow with a heart condition and carrying her late husband's child that when combined threatens her existence. She knows nothing has been the same for her since a year ago, when her spouse John was tested for his psychic abilities at The Morrison Center for Psychic Research. Corrine has telekinetic skills. She would want nothing more than to surrender her life and soul to Dayan, but fears for him and her unborn if she does for she knows those who killed John are coming for her. Though similar in many ways to several of her previous Carpathian-human tales, Christine Feehan provides several character traits to the female lead that adds suspense. Thus the brisk story line feels almost like this is the first novel in the long running series as Corrine struggles with health issues, a pregnancy, and the threat to her beloved, herself, and her unborn. DARK MELODY provides the right tune for fans of the author and anyone who enjoys a strong supernatural romance. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Enough Already Review: Enough already!! The first 3 were really the best because they were different. Now I am pretty sick of the Carpathian males who are all carbon copies of each other. I think that is why they have problems breeding, these males have all been cloned. The women are the worst though. I don't know about everyone else but I have never met anyone I just wanted to have relations with the very moment I met them. Wouldn't it be nice to get to know each other first, even just a little?? I thought this one might be a little better because the last one, Dark Symphony, was much better than they had been. Then this one, Dark Melody, back to the same old same old. I don't think I will be buying anymore of these.
Rating: Summary: You know the drill... sometimes it still works Review: Feehan found a formula that works (Dark Prince was absolutely scorching!!!) and hasn't really tried to improve on it... but she does try something a little different with Dark Melody. Meet Dayan, Feehan's typical tall, dark, drop-dead sexy Carpathian male hero who has searched the world and waited centuries for his lifemate - the one woman who can restore emotions, his ability to see in color, and save him from turning into one of the "undead", the vampire who kills mortals & immortals alike. Dayan is a musician w/ the band Dark Troubadoures, led by Darius (of Dark Fire). Dayan stops into a club for an impromptu jam session and finally crosses paths with Corinne - his lifemate. With his supernaturally acute sense of hearing, he picks up her heartbeat and is instantly concerned: What was wrong with her heart? Not only does Corinne have advanced heart disease which will most certainly result in her premature death, but she carries another man's child. Both conditions prevent Dayan from consummating their union - her heart is so weak, she could not withstand the intensity of their lovemaking. Nor can Dayan risk "binding" her to him in the Carpathian way because he has no idea what will happen to the unborn child if they should complete the ritual of 3 blood exchanges. This story has restored my interest in Feehan's Dark storyline. External threats are brushed over in this story - there is hardly any serious threat from the society that seeks to destroy Carpathians or from the undead. And the union is not consumated at all while Corinne remains "mortal". As a fan, you know you will need to suspend quite a bit of disbelief (how could a woman so near heart failure be walking around living a normal life and pregnant no less - a condition neither she nor the fetus will survive?) but it has been a long time since i had a day to settle down w/ a good steamy romantic fantasy suspense. Feehan delivers.
Rating: Summary: From Bad to Worse! Review: Goodness! Will the horror never end. And, I just don't mean in Christine Feehan's latest contribution to her Carpathians. Seriously, I love this series. The first seven books were fabulous! I would recommend them to anyone. But, the last two books, Dark Symphony and Dark Melody, are just downright idiotic. I wish I could say one good thing about this book, but I can't. The writing is horrible. The plot is horrible. The h/h are horrible. To put it plainly, the entire book is horrible. In Dark Melody, Dayan, a hero from a previous books finds his lifemate, Corrine. And, from there it's the same old trite villians seeking to destroy the pyschic female. The is the return of previous characters but even their addition seems lackluster and uninspiring. Ultimately, the plot and storyline were a bit convulted. And, if you haven't read the other books you would be totally lost. This is not a stand alone novel. Everthing about this book suffered. Do yourself a favor and check this out at the library.
Rating: Summary: Guilty pleasure gets guiltier... Review: I don't know why I read these, they're often awful but I can't seem to help but find them entertaining. The quality varies and I'm afraid this one isn't one of the better ones. (My favorite quote: '...she garnished attention...' What!? She sprinkles it like sprigs of parsley? How about: 'she garnered attention'?) Anyway, I think the stories work out better when the heroine is powerful in some way as in Dark Guardian and Dark Legend. I think this one is comparable to, but somewhat better than, Dark Symphony, one my few non-keepers in this series, and also one in which the heroine had a serious handicap of some kind. Perhaps it precludes interesting conflict when the hero has to coddle the heroine so much.
