Summary: very sexy hero
Review: This book is even better than Mackenzie's Mountain, but that book is also great. Joe is ultra sexy as a fighter pilot who meets his match! This book is so hot, you may find yourself panting as you read it! This is definitely a keeper to reread again and again!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Mackenzie's Mission
Review: This book was a bit harder for me to start only because I am not very interested in planes and such. But I stuck with it and am glad I did. Joe let me down a bit by not trusting Caroline, I was expecting him to be more like his father in that aspect, more protective, but in the end I feel he made it up to her.

Summary: Wow! What a leading man!
Review: This is only the second of the Mackenzie series that I've read. I'm reading them in a strange backward order. I read Game of Chance first and suddenly became addicted to this author's creation. Joe "Breed" Mackenzie is a dynamic character. He pratically leaps off the page and grabs you by the throat telling you to "listen to this story." Caroline by contrast was also a great character in exactly the opposite way. She had been sheltered her entire life by being a genius. These two made a wonderful couple that I would enjoy seeing on the big screen. I can't wait to get my hands on the next Mackenzie book. Let me at 'em!

Summary: MacKenzies Mission
Review: This is the second book of the MacKenzie series and a wonderful addition. Those who have read MacKenzies Mountain will really enjoy learning about Wolf's son Joe. Linda Howard's writing is superb. She creates such a depth of character her protagonists come to life. Joe and Caroline's courtship is a great read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great Sequel for the series
Review: This is the sequel for Linda Howards Mackenzies Mountain. This story focuses on the older son Joe. It takes place in an isolated military base where Joe is in charge. There he meets Caroline a civilian sent to help with the computers. She is soon on guard from the rest of the male staff until Joe takes her under his protection and romance is soon to follow. There is an immediate attraction between the two and the reader can feel the sizzle in the air. There is a subplot of military espionage but it fits in well with the romance and keeps the reader turning pages. I loved this story and recommend that readers not only pick up this book but the original Mackenzies Mountain and The Mackenzie Family, the romance of two other members of this family available on Amazon. Also keep a look out for A Game of Chance the final book in the series. Enjoy your reading!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: VERY good! I fell in love with the hero, and and I liked the heroine. The story was fast paced and well written. Linda Howard also dares to go places where other authors may shy away from. Well worth reading, and I NEVER give romances 5 stars!

Summary: Disappointing, esp. after McKenzie's Mountain
Review: What a disappointment this turned out to be. The romance seemed forced, without the usual chemistry that is present in so many other Howard novels. The heroine was just annoying, and I just couldn't buy that she'd be so stupid while at the same time being a Ph.D. in Physics. Joe stopped just short of being a jerk, which was very disappointing after having been introduced to him in McKenzie's Mountain.

Summary: An exciting page turner - Another winner for Linda Howard
Review: What a great Silhouette romance. Its got hot romance, intrigue, murder, sabotage, and a good ending. Handsome Colonel Joe Mackenzie, the manager of the revolutionary Night Wing fighter plane testing project, meets Dr. Caroline Evans, a beautiful brilliant civilian physicist assigned to the project as the replacement weapons expert. Its instant attraction between two very strong characters. Its a quick read and you won't be able to put it down 'til you finish it.

Summary: Not great for Linda Howard, but still worth a read
Review: While certainly not on the level of "Son of the Morning" or "Heart of Fire," I found this book worth a read and quite enjoyable. For MacKenzie lovers, of course, it's a must no matter what.

The characters were interesting and held promise, but the sexual tension and romantic interaction in general seemed a little forced. That is unusual for Howard; if nothing else, she usually gets that part absolutely right.

The heroine was a computer expert working on a military plane project, so the plot was much more technical than is typical for a romance or a Howard novel. There were a lot of complicated details to get through to make the story make sense, and Howard's usually rich character/relationship development suffered.

Despite its shortcomings, this is still a very readable and entertaining book. I love computers, so I understood what she was talking about and liked the plot as much as the romance. People looking for a straight romance or a "classic" Linda Howard novel might be disappointed.
