Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Fun and Fast Paced Review: I loved this book.I really do hope that is a start of a series because I would so like to see what happens to his brothers. The unique premise for vampires was very well done and one of the best alternate vampire origins I have ever seen. Thank you again. MoonRyu
Rating: Summary: Loved Love Bites Review: I picked up this book at a friends house while I was staying with her and sat down that night and started reading. It was great! A funny and very interesting book kept me involved most of the night till I finished. Went out the next day and bought the next one in the series Single White Vampire.
Rating: Summary: The whole series... Review: I really enjoyed this series. All of the characters were great, and I found that I was looking forward to most of the secondary characters stories that I hope will come. It's just that throughout this series (Love Bites, Singly White Vampire, & Tall, Dark and Hungry) there were many moments where it fell short for me. As I was reading I kept telling myself I couldn't wait to finish the series and move on to something more exciting. If you're looking for a romance/comedy with a great family then you'll enjoy this series. I just need more (a villain, a mission, something!) Yes, there was a comical vampire hunter in Love Bites but as far as vampirism; the author could have skipped it all together. They preferred bagged blood as opposed to biting (which they considered "out of fashion" unless it was an emergency), which for me seemed to take the intimacy out of it. (And as far as the bagged blood, well...Yuck!). These were also not very "Alpha" men. Etienne was a video game inventor, Lucern was an author, and Bastien was a businessman. There were only two instances where Etienne and then Lucern were put in "dangerous" positions where they encountered a vampire hunter (which was more comical than anything else). In "Tall, Dark and Hungry there was absolutely nothing. Granted I may be comparing this author to Christine Feehan or Sherrilyn Kenyon whom have both created such awesome worlds, and whose books are full of action and suspense. I guess that's just it. These stories are just about relationship development. When I read a "Vampire" book I want magic! Suspense, shape shifting, bad guys, etc...5 stars because this series was great just not my favorite sort.
Rating: Summary: newbie finds great book! Review: I saw this book on the shelf at the drug store, and knew I would have a long wait at the Dr's. So I bought the book, knowing nothing about it or the author, and thinking that I would be disapointed and that it would turn in to a horror fest or be gloomy. Boy was I wrong. I devoured the book, laughing out loud in the waiting room! I was immediately hooked, and tracked down the first book Single White Vampire. That one too was fantastic, and I wait with great expections for the third, Tall Dark and Hungry. It is such a relief to find someone who has fun with the vampire idea and makes it sexy as hell. Thank you, Ms. Sands!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: Love Bites by Lynsay Sands is another funny sexy book in the Argeneau vampire series. Love Bites takes us back to prior to Single White Vampire, Kate and Lucern story to tell of the meeting of Etienne and Rachel. Etienne is the youngest son in the Argeneau clan. He has a stalker that is making his life hell. This stalker "kills" Etienne with a bullet to the heart that lands him on the table of lovely coroner Rachel Garrett. Their first meeting is so hysterical, Rachel is sick with the flu and convinces herself that what she is seeing isn't real. At their second meeting Rachel has a vague memory of this handsome man who is now laying with deathly burns on her metal slab. When the stalker attacks Etienne at the morgue, Rachel gets in the way and it hurt by mistake. Etienne is compelled to safe her from death and makes her immortal. He also brings her to his home to help her adjust to the change. Rachel reactions to her new way of life are priceless. She is equally confused by her attraction to Etienne. Etienne mind is racing to delay her leaving his home. He never needed a life partner in all his 300 years but he realizes Rachel is everything he wants for all eternity. Love Bites is wildly amusing and steamy. Rachel and Etienne are a pair that will keep you laughing and will tantalize you with their passion. Lynsay Sands Vampires are on my auto-buy list.
Rating: Summary: It's just ok Review: Love Bites was my first Lynsay Sands book, and to be honest, I'm not sure I will buy another one. Love Bites was a light read, and the heroine was likeable, but the hero was a tad annoying. He was too geeky for my taste, and he took way too long to make any kind of move on Rachel, and once he did, there wasn't a whole lot of sexual tension. I did find Pudge, the guy trying to kill Etienne, amusing. He was crazy, but his misconceptions about vampires was pretty funny. The secondary character Thomas ANNOYED me. Who says "dudette"? Every time he said it I cringed! Since others said they liked SWV better, I may try that one, but I won't be rushing out to get it or anything.
Rating: Summary: Fun Read! Review: Love the concept and the story line as well as the authors sense of humor. Takes what often is a dark story (vampires per se) and dips scenes in modern life. Fun read overall!
Rating: Summary: Another point for Lynsay.... Review: Lynsay did it again....I loved 'Love Bites' and I also finished this one in a day. The characters just jump out at you and pull you into the story. I'm a fan for life!
Rating: Summary: another in the wonderful dysfuntional vampire family!! Review: Lynsay Sands' hit SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE was the first in her series of books about a modern day dysfunctional vampire family the Argeneaus. Love Bites is the second and takes up the story of Etienne, Lucern's younger brother. (These are the books that Lucern has been writing that everyone thinks are just vampire romances!) Rachel Garrett has been bouncing between chill and fever and it had nothing to do with the dead man on the table before her. She works in a hospital morgue, after all, so seeing dead bodies were a just part of a work. It was the flu. She needed to be in bed resting, but the caseload was stacking up so there was no time to pamper herself. Only to find a dead body handsome, well that MIGHT be attributed to the flu. But after, when she jokingly apologizes for having to cut away the expensive slacks and the corpse replies, she feels entirely justified in fainting. After a week's recovery, she is back on the job when they bring in another body, this one totally burned from a car explosion. As Rachel begins to remove his possessions and tag the body, she is puzzled when the body seems less charred, and then the blackened flesh begins to desquamate, sort of like a snake shedding its skin. Worse, she detects a heartbeat. Just as her mind is trying to adjust to this bizarre situation, an ax-wielding madman rushing into the room screaming for her to get away from the body that is was a vampire. She's horrified when she sees this nutcase is going to cut off the head of the man - who may not be dead. Not giving a thought, she jumps in front of him as he brings the ax down. Too late Rachel understands her stupid mistake. Etienne awakes to find Rachel dying. Though they are governed by rules about turning people into vampires, you may turn a mate into a life partner, so Etienne repays her heroic saving of his life by saving hers by making Rachel a vampire. His mother and brother arrive on the scene and take Etienne and Rachel home. When Rachel awakens, she is in a lot of pain, nude, and strapped to a bed, with an IV giving her blood. She is surprised to find the horrid ax wound is healing, leaving only a tiny scar and even nearly fades before her eyes. Trying to find some answers to the zillions questions flooding her mind, she wraps the sheet around her and ventures forth only to find a coffin in a darkened room. For the second time in her life she nearly faints, as the occupant of the coffin sits up and begins talking to her. Thus begins the rocky romance of Etienne Argeneau and Rachel Garrett. Etienne figures once Rachel understands it was the only way to save her life, she will quickly adjust to her new state, after all her body is in a better state that it ever was - and hey no split ends!! First problem is Rachel gets most of her vampire lore from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so she is not exactly thrilled with being "an undead blood-sucking demon" Rachel soon learns there advantages to the door Etienne has opened for her, so love would will find a way - just as soon as Etienne can do something about the Pudge the ax-wielding idiot who fancies himself a vampire slayer! Lynsay gives another wonderful, fuzzy vampire tale in the Argeneau family. Cannot wait till early 2004 for Bastien's story!!
Rating: Summary: superb Vampire romance Review: Morgue Dr. Rachel Garrett is coming down with the flu when the corpse of Etienne Argeneau is brought in for her to examine. The big man was shot, but soon gets up as bullets cannot kill a vampire. Rachel assumes that her fever is making her delirious. A few days later, Etienne returns dead again. This time when he recovers, his assailant is there too as he followed behind the transported "corpse" to the morgue. Etienne, who feels he owes Rachel, will do anything to keep her safe from the evil that has assaulted him. Besides which she has somehow gotten inside his blood. He wonders if he should convert her as his eternal mate even though he knows vampires have only one chance to get the transformation right However, before he can decide to end three centuries of bachelorhood, the vile foe takes the choice out of his hands as Rachel is under assault. Vampire romance readers will love to tenderly bite the caring charming champion, who is simply a nice individual; Rachel is his delightful counterpart if she can "live" long enough to permanently take the role. The story line is entertaining on two levels. First there is the good vs. evil war between the hero and his vile obsessed foe (role reversal); and second is Etienne's dilemma of bringing her over or not. With this tale and SINGLE, WHITE VAMPIRE, Lynsay Sands has provided a unique vampiric family of nurturing considerate souls that readers will cherish. Harriet Klausner
