Rating: Summary: Great book! I could not stop once I started. Review: "Finding Laura" is a great book. It is so intriguing and enticing that I read till 4 in the morning without knowing it. Now that I am almost close to finishing it, I started to worry where I can find another good book, or Kay Hooper to kill my commuting time. The book definitely has all the right elements to succeed. I think Kay Hooper has become one of my favorite authoresses.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing! Review: After reading the hype about this novel in Romantic Times, I was sorely disappointed when I finally read it, in spite of an intriguing mystical plot twist. The hero and heroine did nothing to motivate me to root for them. She was dull and undistiniguished from a hundred other females in a hundred other books, and he was cold, distant, and lacked solidity. He seemed to me to be just a flat character on a flat page. Their relationship did not seem to develop or intensify.... one day they had sex, then they were in love and moving in together. Where's the intrigue, the slow build-up? As for the rest of the characters, wow! What a thoroughly unlikeable bunch! Not a single character elicited my sympathy. They were a bunch of spoiled, selfish, malicious, freaks with few redeeming qualities. I pity poor Laura.... why in the name of God would she want to marry into a family like that?
Rating: Summary: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who Dies Next? Review: Cliffside, how come she sees the sign for that small town in her dreams? How come two different people in Atlanta have called her Caroline when her name is Joanna? These are only two of the questions that have come to puzzle research librarian Joanna Flynn after her near fatal auto accident. Joanna, puts the clues together, finds out that a woman named Caroline McKenna, who is her exact age, died in an accident in Cliffside, Oregan at the same time she survived her own accident and to make matters even more coincidental, they could have been twins. Caroline goes to Oregon and finds more than she bargained for, more than anyone could have bargained for. I enjoyed this five star, character driven book more than I can say. This book is so much more than a romance novel, so much more than even romantic suspense. Dean Koontz fans would appreciate this book. Reviewed by Vesta Irene
Rating: Summary: My Thoughts on Finding Laura Review: Finding Laura is the third book I have read by Kay Hooper. From reading the back, the story did not appear to be as intriging as After Caroline and Amanda, and I was in no hurry to read it. However, my mother accidently revealed a secret from the book, and I decided it might be more interesting than I thought. At any rate, I read it, and found it to be just as good as Ms. Hooper's other books. I suggest it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Kay Hooper is a joy to read; a very talented writer Review: For as long as Laura can remember, she has had an inexplicable need to
collecting hand mirrors. She sometimes feels that when she finds the right
one, all her vague questions and suppressed feelings that have haunted her
forever will finally be answered. When Laura accepts an invitation to attend
the wealthy, powerful, but mysterious Kilbourne Auction, she finds the mirror
that she has been obsessively searching for.
However, when she returns home and look into the mirror, all she sees is a
reflection of herself. That night, Peter Kilbourne arrives at her home and
offers Laura an exorbitant amount of money to buy back the mirror. Laura
refuses the money because she knows that she has found the treasure that she
has spent a
lifetime seeking. The next day, two police officers visit Laura, informing
her that Peter has been murdered and she is the last known person to have
seen him alive. Obviously, Laura is the prime suspect and feels she must
actively clear her name.
Laura impulsively visits the Kilbournes to learn why the victim wanted to buy
back the mirror. She gets no answers, only more questions when she meets the
sensual heir apparent, Daniel Kilbourne, a man she is meeting for the first
time yet feels like she has known for eternity.
The fun in reading a Kay Hooper novel is that one never knows what the great
author is going to come up with, but everyone knows it will be a winner.
FINDING LAURA is a shining showcase for the brilliant creativity of this
dynamic writer. The novel beguiles the audience with a riveting romance, a
couple of mysterious murders that are challenging to solve, and a dose of
magic that adds an otherworldly feel to a keeper that will gather no dust.

Rating: Summary: Spellbinding with an odd ending! Review: From the beginning I was hooked and when Daniel came into the picture there was no putting this book down. I loved how they researched the mirror all the way from its original owner to the Kilbourne Family... I have to say that I was not expecting the killer to be who it was I had my thoughts on who it was but this person I never once even thought of...the only problem I have with the book is the ending when Laura finds out about the ending to the mirror. I just thought that was a little off the wall but this is a book I will read again and again despite the ending
Rating: Summary: I love Kay Hooper Review: Have read and enjoyed almost everything this lady writes. Started reading her in the Loveswept series and continue to this day. She has just the right touch of fantasy for my taste. And I_like_fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Southern Romance and Suspense Review: I enjoyed the book-an absorbing plot-and an intriguing focus on the past, with the theme of an antique mirror. I find it hard to believe, though, that all the adults living in the family mansion could let themselves be controlled by Amelia, the manipulative matriarch. Would a grown woman really let her grandmother-in-law tell her what clothing she should wear? I wouldn't!! It surpises me that Amelia wasn't a murder victim. Daniel, the romantic hero, is not as interesting as he should be. There seems to be too much focus on the dark, mysterious stranger persona, rather than his actual self. However, he is clearly the strongest person in the family besides his grandmother. The men irritate me because they are all so unbelievably handsome. Aren't there any normal people in this family? I find it hard to believe that Matilda, the grieving mother, would so completely favor one son over the other-this neeeds more explanation. I think, Kerry, the newly widowed daughter-in-law, is one of the most interesting characters. Parts of the plot seem farfetched even for Gothic suspense. The solution of Peter's murder is almost a letdown. Fun to read but don't spend money on a hardback copy.
Rating: Summary: Whatever happened to the sketch? Review: I found the book fair and a little above average for intensity. The ending seemed a bit rushed. Also, there was a part that someone took the sketch of Daniel and throughout the book I never heard of the missing sketch again.
