Rating: Summary: Hey, this is not a good story Review: I enjoy reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I think that she is an excellent writer. My favorites are KISS AN ANGEL and NOBODY'S BABY BUT MINE. The latter story was a bit silly but it was funny. I didn't care for the hero in Dream A Little Dream. Reminded me too much of Linda Howard's earlier work, Sarah's Child, another story I didn't like by another talented writer. I couldn't finish this book, if that tells you anything. I thought the hero a jerk and just couldn't sympathize with him despite the circumstances. I just don't care for plotlines like this one and will avoid them all in future.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Read, well worth the money Review: A very enjoyable read. The heroine(s) in this book take different paths but eventually reach their goals of self-discovery and fulfillment. Rachel must battle her past relationship with a corrupted pastor and a town's inability to offer forgiveness. Kirsty wages a war within herself to find the love of her life...by first loving herself. I loved the complex nature of the dialogs. Romance wasn't a melodramatic moment that left the reader wondering if that much syrupy conversation was safe to digest in one setting. Instead the romance between the males and females in the book took on a different level of caring and sensitivity. Themes that were handled with care, grace and humor: overlooking the beauty that is right beneath your nose, grieving the lost of a family, holding on to your faith, etc. It would seem with the many complexities and varied themes, this book would be a jumble of cliches. Instead it is a well written love story that I will keep in my list of treasured books. Although SEP has not been one of my favorite authors, this is definitely one of my favorite stories. Great job.
Rating: Summary: Warmed even my crusty, cynical heart... Review: ...which is really saying something! This was one of the most touching, humorous books I've ever read. It was a completely satisfying read, and I can't wait for The President's Lady to come out. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Best book ever! Review: I loved this book! It was wonderful and made me smile. Reader from Ohio. You posted to the wrong book dummy.
Rating: Summary: Silly comedy with a golf background instead of football Review: I've read everyone of SEP's books, and each one, has gotten sillier. She used to write serious, sexy, well-plotted books. Now she writes so-called romantic comedies. Lady Emma and Kenny, are two very superficial people. Add to that,a lack of plot, a lack of sexual tension, and there's nothing for me to enjoy about this book. I can read about Texas in textbooks, or even in SEP's previous books. It may be Avon's fault, but I've bought my last book by this author.
Rating: Summary: This book is a true winner!! Review: I just finished this book and I still feel happy to the bottom of my toes!! I loved the character of Rachel...smart, sassy and strong. And Gabe...wow!! I found myself laughing and crying throughout the story...did get strange looks from people while reading at the orthodontist's office today--found myself laughing out loud!! I liked the way the author wove all the different characters together--no character or subplot was left dangling when everything was said and done. I am already searching for more books by this author!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: All four books in the "Chicago" series were great. They are in order "It Had To Be You", "Heaven Texas", "Nobody's Baby But Mine" and "Dream A Little Dream".
Rating: Summary: Mediocre compared with other SEP books. Review: This book was fairly engaging and funny. However, the inequity between hero and heroine was a disturbing throw back to the past. I found it hard to believe that a strong, resourceful, intelligent woman would be reduced to living in a car, dependent on the surly generosity of the hero. The plot is contrived, trite and predictable but is saved by amusing dialogue, interesting subplot, and quirky secondary characters. Still, this book is not as good as other SEP books, and I don't recommend anyone to go out of their way to read it.
Rating: Summary: IT WAS FANTASTIC Review: This book was fantastic is funny but not as much as her other books of course it has a very beautiful story that faced darker and sad issues such as death, poverty, and meaness I loved Ethan and Kristy and think they deserve a story for them self Mr and Mrs Bonner to,I just loved Gabe and Rachel and we can't forget Cal and Jane there book was so wonderful,Bobby Tom and Gracie were adorable,Phoebe and Dan were so so cool,I hope you love them all as much as I did, and Mrs Phillips if you ever read this won't you take to consideration doing a book for Kristy,Ethan,Mr and Mrs Bonner and Kevin They all deserve it. Rating: Summary: Worth Reading Again and Again Review: I have read this book twice and enjoy the humor of SEP. I can relate to Rachel; we've all been down on our luck. It just shows that you never give up! I found myself laughing out loud and worrying about the happenings in the next paragraph!! I have enjoyed all of SEP's books thus far and am anxious about any future books that are released.
