Rating: Summary: Dynamic Characters Make for a Great Read Review: This was the first Julia Quinn book I have read. I will be purchasing more in the future. The characters in this delightful story were well-rounded and multi-dimensional. Miss Quinn created a robust, funny, emotional tale that sucks you in from the first chapter. One of the few romance novels where characters other than the hero and heroine are well-developed and entertaining. This was one of those books you can't put down, but you hate to get to the last page, because you're enjoying the book so much you don't want it to end!!! I'm looking forward to the next book from this author.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: This is the first book of Julia Quinn's I've read. If this book is indicative of how good her other books are, I plan to buy all of her other titles. Many times while reading this book, I found myself laughing right out loud!
Rating: Summary: The best Julia Quinn yet. Review: It made me laugh and cry. Can't wait for her next book
Rating: Summary: The best Julia Quinn yet. Review: This is wonderful comedy with warmth and love in the mix. My favorite lines were the ones Elizabeth muttered under her breath, and she could be such a klutz. Lady Danbury is the model for all crusty grande dames with hearts of gold.
Rating: Summary: Light and funny. A perfect weekend read! Review: This book is delightful. Expectation is important, however, and many readers of historicals want a drama rather than a comedy. (Mary Jo Putney's One Perfect Rose is an example of drama HR). This book is a comedy and like most comedies, does deal with emotional issues, but comes at them from the side. Readers of drama (I am one) will enjoy this book if they know what to expect. The hero James is lovable, more interested in a real woman than the image falsely put forth to lure men. The heroine, Elizabeth, is spunky and although she's in a tight spot, works hard to get herself out. (I hate wimpy heroines; if you do too, you will like Elizabeth). This book made me laugh out loud to the point where I started getting funny looks from people.
Rating: Summary: An usual path to true love!!! Review: This book is full of fun and laughter!!It includes a scheming old aunt, nosey siblings, a prince in disguse, an obnoxious cat and and above all else a woman who looks for love the wrong way but ends up finding it where she least expects it!! This book is a must read!! Don't be the last!!
Rating: Summary: This is one of those can't miss books! Review: This is one of those books that you just can't put down until you read the final page. The characters are so realistic, it's almost like they are real people instead of characters in a book. The heroine, Elizabeth, is not a milk-water miss, but a woman with morals and ideals. She has raised her sisters and brother for five years since the death of her parents until circumstances force her to come to terms with the need to marry so her family won't go hungry. The lady she works for, Lady Danbury, takes things into her own hands by asking her favorite nephew to come to her, not as the Marquis of Riverdale, but as ordinary Mister James Sidwell, to solve a blackmail plot and to meet Elizabeth. When the Marquis found Elizabeth with the book "How to Marry a Marquis" he thinks at first he's been found out. Then he offers to help her to practice what she's read on him. The dilemma-she has fallen head over heels in love with James Sidwell, but when he is revealed to be the Marquis as well, she believes he has been making fun of her the entire time.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: Great characters and plot. An enjoyable book
Rating: Summary: Witty, unusual characters...love the old auntie Review: HTMAM had me laughing out loud! I always expect a great romantic couple from JQuinn, but I especially enjoyed the youngsters and the oldsters. This is clearly her best work yet.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting. Review: Cleverly written, quick to read
