Summary: The Deed
Review: Dear Readers;

Emmalene and Amaury are quite close to my heart. They were my first attempt at a historical romance, as well as the first book that I have had published, so I am a bit biased, but I found the pair quite charming, lovable, and yes, even I found them terribly amusing. I sat at the computer night after night, chuckling away as I typed, driving my husband -and anyone who happened to visit while I was working- batty as they tried to discover what I found so amusing. But then, that was why I created them. I needed a good laugh at the time (If you read the dedication, you can probably figure out why).

Anyway, as I sat around pondering what to amuse myself with, I recalled an incident that happened while I was in University. I was researching an essay and wandered into the wrong area of the library - I do that a lot - and came upon a book of Royal decrees from one of the Medieval Kings of England. As I leafed through it, I came upon a certain Lady who had gone to the King to complain that her husband wasn't attending to his..er..husbandly duties? The King decreed that he was to do so, or else he would have to forfeit several hundred fowl (I think it was chickens, and I can't remember the exact amount, but that was the gist of the story). I remember shaking my head at the time and wondering just what kind of woman would humiliate herself so by admitting such an embarrassing thing to the King of England and his court-- And Voila! Emmalene was born.

As for Amaury... Well, don't tell anyone, but he's based on my husband. Only his better qualities, of course. But we really do have to keep that between you and I. We wouldn't want him to run around thinking that there are scads of women out there who find him as endearing and lovable as I do. I do have to live with the man, you know.

Anyhow, for those of you who have read it and written such GREAT reviews and letters. THANK YOU!!! I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. That was my aim (I figured I wasn't the only one who might be in need of a laugh). And for those of you about to read it, I hope you get at least a giggle out of it.

Summary: Everyone raved, but I thought it was a little too cutsie
Review: I read this book because of the other reviews. While I thought the book was okay, once "the deed" was accomplished, the rest of the story was not as imaginitive as it could have been. In my experience with novels, there are a few authors that make me roll on the floor laughing or crying. Lindsay Sands isn't one of those authors. It seems like she started off with a good idea, but she didn't develop the plot entirely, and didn't have any real surprises at the end of the book. It was just sort of blah. There was so much more that could have been done to make this story more memorable for me. Save your money for books whose authors are truly creative.

Summary: A good book with lots of humour!!
Review: I thought the characters were great... the heroine was delightful and the hero was endearing. I was laughing all throughout the book :)

Summary: Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!!!! Amazing, I can't wait for more!!
Review: If this book doesn't make you laugh so hard that you cry you obviously do not have a sense of humor! When Emma became Amaury's bride in truth I laughed so much that I had to stop reading to wipe the tears from my eyes. I gladly read that book twice and look forward to a third time... funny, funny, funny! It's about time authors realize that although we want to read historical romance that doesn't mean that we don't want to laugh. Well Lynsay Sands knows, The Key is just as wonderful! Excellent!

Summary: Lynsay Sands done it again...
Review: If you want to laugh and cry, generally feel good(GREAT) you must read "The Deed". I have read many romance novels in my time and I have to say that Ms. Sands is tops, she is up there with Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught. At this time when GOOD historical romances are hard to find, Ms. Sands delivers everything she promise and more. This is a keeper, so read it, share it with your friends and add it to your private collection as I have.

Summary: Funny Stuff weaved with an otherwise stale plot...
Review: Lord Fulk, the Duke of Eberhart, married Lady Emmalene two years ago, but had not seen fit to consummate their marriage. Finally Emma requested an audience with the King to discuss this delicate matter. The King issued a command that Lord Fulk do his duty, but he died on his way home to do the deed. Emma is then caught in the middle of a struggle for her husband's title and wealth, prompting the King to promise her hand to a landless knight, Amaury de Aneford. On their wedding night, it doesn't take long for Amaury to discover just how naïve his widowed virgin wife is. Their wedding also doesn't stop his rival from plotting to gain Amaury's new wealth, and bride, by whatever means necessary.

Can a woman so naïve of the marriage bed, and a man without the first inclination of how to treat his wife, find love and happiness in their life together?

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I have mixed feelings about it. First of all, parts of the story were really funny and I love that particular element in a romance. However, while I found the characters enjoyable for the most part, I did have some difficulty swallowing the extent of Emma and Amaury's deficiencies. There were a couple of instances where I thought, how could Emma be that naïve about men? She didn't know what a penis was? I realize the time period was different. But she had a father, has always been very close to her male cousin, and almost two hundred servants live with her, yet she never overheard any talk of male anatomy? Amaury's close friend Blake obviously knows how to treat women, and yet Amaury never before witnessed this? Obviously if they were knowledgeable of these things, it would've spoiled the humor. I'm just saying the extent of their ignorance seemed quite unlikely.

The intrigue plot was okay, but rather unimaginative. I also grew tired of hordes of men attacking Amaury every time he set foot out of the castle walls. In addition, I really didn't get a strong feeling of them belonging together. In other words, I didn't "feel the love". Having said all that, the humor factor was strong enough for me to award my three star rating and try another book by this author. As I understand it, this was her first published novel, and I do see her potential.

Summary: Get Ready to Laugh Your A** Off! Triple A+ Fun!
Review: Lynsay Sands is a relatively new author but she is the type of author who will be around for many years to come! A while back I was in the mood for a really funny medieval book... two were recommended to me - Love at First Sight by Sandra Lee and The Deed by Lynsay Sands. Both books are fabulous but I must admit that The Deed has something extra special. The author has a way of involving you in the story that will surprise you and captivate you. She is absolutely wonderful and she is already an "autobuy" for me!

The thing that I remember the most about The Deed (I read it quite a while ago) was I felt as though I was running a marathon. My heart was pumping, my mind was racing and I couldn't catch my breath (because I was laughing so hard) - and this was all in the first chapter! The story is about Lady Emmaline Eberhart's desire to have her husband commit the "deed" and yes I am talking about SEX! She even pleads with the King to force him to do his "duty" to her. Unfortunately her husband dies and she is ordered to remarry. If her new husband does not perform the "deed" quickly she will lose her inheritance to her late husband's cousin... this particular scene is priceless and if you choose not to read this book at least read the first two chapters. I promise you that you will be rolling on the floor laughing!

Lady Emmaline Eberhart is determined not to remain an innocent and trust me "innocent" is too strong a word for her. She has beauty and grace and at times she semms a bit silly but you can't help to love her (probably because of her talent for making you laugh... how could you dislike someone who makes you smile so much) and the things she does to Amaury are hysterical. I laughed with this book from beginning to end and now that I think about it I can't help but smiling!

Amaury de Aneford is gorgeous (did you have a doubt?) who also happens to be a landless knight who is willing to marry solely for the purpose of obtaining a home - the most important thing to him. Little did he realize the wife he was gaining would steal his heart.

I will love this book for the laughs it brought me. If you are afraid to laugh in public do not read this book anywhere but behind closed doors! You won't be able to stop yourself... it is that funny!
