In Austin, Texas, two prostitutes are murdered over the last eighteen months, left with missing body parts. The first with missing ears, the second with a missing tongue. Tonight, another body is found in a trash bin with missing fingers. Detectives Eric D'Angelo, and Tony Haskins are on the case and soon discover the three cases are related to the Sinatra Killer,who always plays a song of Frank Sinatra's on a boom box during his kill.

On the other hand, Sara Martin has been awakened by midnight "silence" phone calls for a while. At the urging of her best friend, Bess Haskins, wife of Tony Haskins, she goes to see Tony at the station and to see if he can help. Who she meets is Eric instead of Tony. Eric is smitten with Sara at first sight and the attraction seems to be mutual for both parties. Eric finds himself prolonging the meeting with Sara and makes excuses to see her again.

Sara is a free-lance photographer at a magazine. Her husband and son were killed in a car accident over two years ago and she's refused to date anyone since then. Her friends have tried hard to set her up with nice guys but she was never interested until the accidental meeting with Eric.

As the relationship between Eric and Sara starts to grow, the Sinatra case turns a new page. The last victim, Lydia Wallace, was the young woman with whom Sara has been working on an article. Then, another victim is found dead in her home. This time, a social worker, not a prostitute and the killer takes her hair. Then, Sara gets another midnight "silent" call but this time, there is music in the background, the Sinatra music ......

Dancing in the Dark is a well-plotted and well-balanced tale of romance and suspense. At the beginning, the romance and the suspense parts of the story seems to go separate routes, but with some twists and turns created by Ms. Davis, they blend into one nicely and logically. The hero and heroine are perfect for each other, and their romance is both sweet and passionate. However, finding the Sinatra killer is quite a challenge, with little tips and bits provided in the tale. Readers will surely find Dancing in the Dark most satisfying and thrilling from start till end.

Review: Dee Davis has written an intriguing and suspense filled tale in her latest, 'Dancing In The Dark'. Sara Martin has never recovered from the sudden death of her loving husband and four year old son. Eric D'angelo is trying to understand the twisted mind of the of the serial killer dubbed the Sinatra killer that plagues the city of Austin, Texas. When Sara comes to him with complaints of harrassing phone calls he is smitten with her and understanding but not too concerned, until he begins to see a possible connection to the Sinatra killer. Suddenly everyone in Sara's life may be a suspect and everyone she knows especially herself is at risk. Eric works tirelessly to protect Sara and find the killer before the Sinatra killer takes Sara from him.

Davis keeps you guessing with her strong plotting and crisp prose. The characters are well drawn and easy to like. This is Davis' best writing and my favorite to date.

Review: Gruesome is the only word to characterize the modern day Jack the Ripper stalking Austin's streets. His victims are thus far, all ladies of the night, each one horribly mutilated. In the background beside each body plays a Frank Sinatra song. Eric D'Angelo is assigned the case, and also Sara Martin's case, which appears at first, to be a stalker, or simple harrassment problem. Then, one clue changes that and ties the beautiful young widow's case to the murders. The situation escalates, and now it is not only hookers who are dying. Eric finds himself racing against a killer's timetable to not only stop the killing, but save Sara. In a story that keeps your heart in your throat right up until the end, Ms. Davis does for Sinatra what Hitchcock did for showers.

***** This is a sexy and thrilling read, easily Ms. Davis' finest work to date. The romantic tension between Eric, a man who never wanted to fall in love for longer than one night, and Sara, the woman who did not want to love again, is equal to the suspenseful terror built by the shocking, insane madman cutting a swath of blood through the streets. ***** Reviewed by Amanda

Summary: Awesome Book...
Review: I didn't think I'd find a Dee Davis book better then After Twilight but Dancing In The Dark is going to be really hard to beat. I can usually figure out the killer/mystery in books pretty quickly but I didn't have a clue in this book. Everybody appears to be a suspect so it really drew me in & I honestly didn't have a clue until right before the cops figured it out. I will admit that a time or 2 it seemed a little to graphic but that was the story line & it played in great. The romance & people in this book are just awesome. I highly recommend this book.

Review: I have been reading all of Dee Davis' releases since "Just Breathe". So far, nothing is as good. Just breathe had great suspense, fabulous romance and a good dose of humor. I hope that Dee Davis can produce another story just like it - unfortunately, Dancing in the Dark isn't it!

Summary: Too Gruesome
Review: I'd like my money back. I'd like the time I spent reading this back( I didn't finish)This is one of the few books which does not get passed along to another reader or to the library for resale; it goes into the garbage. The book has too much gruesome details of raped & butchered women. Surely good suspense can be written without this kind of dreadful gore. Yuck!

Review: Sara Martin has been through a lot. Two years ago, her husband and son were both killed in a car accident, and Sara's still mourning their loss. Her nights are troubled by disturbing dreams and crank calls, the latter of which sends her to detective Eric D'Angelo for help. His sexy looks and protective demeanor penetrate Sarah's defenses, but is she ready to loose her heart again?

To make things worse, there's a killer on the loose, and Detective D'Angelo has been assigned to the case. Not only are the murders as grizzly as they come, but they're getting closer and closer to home, and to Sara. Is she the target of a madman? And can she trust her life, and her heart, to Eric?

If you're looking for a fast read, with enthralling, well developed characters, look no further than DANCING IN THE DARK. The suspense thread is wonderfully woven into the story, and it kept me guessing right until the very end. Every time I thought I had the killer figured out, Ms. Davis would expertly throw in another plot twist or minor detail to throw me off track.

The chemistry between Sara and Eric leaps off the pages. They're fantastic together, in part due to wonderful dialogue and great descriptions by Ms. Davis. The romance is believable and realistic, as is their fear and the thread of suspense that flows through that romance. Secondary characters are depth to the plot, and help relieve the tension with the humor and support they offer.

Dee Davis has written a real winner in DANCING IN THE DARK. Just a word of caution: some of the descriptions of the murders are very gory, so if you're easily disturbed by such scenes, you might want to skip this one.

Review: Sara Martin has had her fair share of heartache in life. As a child, she lost her mother and was put into foster care and as a woman, she lost the only family she'd ever had. Her husband and her son. Even though it has been two years, Sara can't bring herself to let go of their memories. After confiding in her friends that she has been receiving late night calls for the past year, she lets herself be convinced to go to the police. She doesn't think anything of it...at least not at first.

Eric D'Angelo has never seen or met anyone like Sara Martin. From the moment she walks into the police station, he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Even in the middle of the biggest serial killer case that he has ever seen as a cop, he still can't get Sara out of his head, or his heart.

Soon Eric pieces together that Sara is somehow connected to the man they have dubbed The Sinatra Killer because of the music he leaves behind at each murder. Eric makes a promise to himself and to Sara that he will go to whatever lengths to keep her safe. Dancing in the Dark brings back D'Angelo from Midnight Rain, as well as his partner, Tony Haskins. In her normal style, Davis entertwines romance with suspense in a way that will hold you captivated.

Review: The perp was dubbed the Sinatra Killer. He object raped his victims, stabbed them, took a trophy, and left them to bleed out. At each crime scene a boom box was left with Frank Sinatra singing romantic songs to a corpse.

Sara Martin had no idea her silent phone caller was the perp. Her friends talked her into going to the police to ask for advice. It was there that Sara met sexy Detective Eric D'Angelo. The attraction was instantaneous, but Sara was not yet ready for a relationship. Eric knew Sara would be special to someone, someday. But he shocked himself when he heard himself ask her out. They would take it slow.

Eric and his partner were on the Sinatra case. As the bodies piled up, connections from the killer to Sara began forming. Eric vowed to protect Sara with his life!

***** OMG! This story is so enthralling that I read it within six hours, never once putting it down for anything! Some characters from previous books were thrown in, (casual third party references) and that made the characters even more real to me - the reader.

The story is so good that it deserves a special word to describe it. I decided on "Unputdownable!" I have no doubt you will agree. Highly recommended! ***** ...
