Summary: Great read from start to end!
Review: Who wouldn't want their own personal Vasili Petroff? Incredibly handsome Vasili never met a woman who can resist him. No wonder he is so arrogant and desperately need to be taken down a peg or two. No better person to take on the job than his out of the blue betrothed Alexandra Rubliov, horse breeder extraordinaire.
At the age of 31, Count Vasili Petroff had no intention to get married anytime soon. Who could blame him when women threw themselves to him all the time? Imagine his shocked anger when he learned that he had been betrothed to his father's longtime friend Baron Rubliov's daughter. Certain that the girl will be glad to have him, Vasili intend to make sure the girl will call off the wedding by showing his contempt full blast to her. Unbeknownst to Vasili, the girl in question Alexandra Rubliov, or Alex as she usually called, had no intention of agreeing marrying him either. Alex had planned to parade her most unladylike behavior to make sure that "the popinjay" will call off their wedding.
It made one hell of an entertaining ride when they traveled from Russia to Cardinia, the country where Vasili lived, trying one after another outrageous deeds to get the other to cry off. Vasili's friend Count Lazar Dimitrieff certainly thought so!
So come, and join this full of laughter read from Lindsey.

Summary: Riveting
Review: I believe this was one of Lindsey's best... Alex and Vasili constantly fight and fight... But it could have been better... Towards the end it left some doubts about how Vasili felt about Alex, yes he said he loved her, and thathe no longer had any mistresses but for some reason it didn't reasure me. I mean it was great buthe wasn't really convincing when he finally admitted his love. Otherwise I LOVED this book!

Summary: A cut above the rest
Review: I haven't been reading Johanna Lindsey lately, so I had forgotten how good she writes. I read it straight through in one day since I didn't want to put it down. She did such a wonderful job developing the characters. Their spirit (and sparring) was exceptional. The stubborness that divided them was interesting to see overcome.

The strength of the characters combined with the plot make this book one of the best reads I've had in a long time!

Summary: A fun read!
Review: When I read this book I didn't realize it was a "sequel" of sorts to "Once a Princess" which I haven't yet read - but will. I thought this book was lots of fun. Alex, at 25 quite old for a heroine, is perfectly happy with her life and her horses and is not interested in marriage. Her father wants her to marry and manufactures a "long forgotten" betrothal to Vasili, the son of his old long dead friend.

Vasili is the too-handsome-for-his-own-good cousin to the King of Cardinia. He's enjoying the bachelor life to the hilt (he's got three mistresses and a live-in slave!) and he seems to always get his way. Except when his mother tells him he's betrothed to a woman he's never met!

Since neither want to marry, they each try desperately to repell the other into breaking the betrothal (neither want to dishonor their fathers by breaking it themselves). In this Alex does the better job - if I had been Vasili, I would have had to slap her more than once!

I LOVED Vasili's character. For a vain, strutting peacock he had a lot of humor and more patience that I would have had. Alex on the other hand needed to grow up! Waiting seven years for some guy from her past was a bit much. I loved the fact that toward the end, Vasili was willing to accept the less than lady-like habits of Alex anyway not knowing she was doing it all for show. That was sweet. All in all a fun read.

Summary: one of the best heroines ever
Review: this is the first johanna lindsey book i ever read and after i read this book i was addicted. the heroine is a stubborn, spoiled, independant young woman and i loved her. she was just what the arrogant hero needed. she made me LOL when she grabbed the hair of the serving girl at the inn and threatened her if she went near her bethrothed again. her loyalness to that english guy was really annoying but overall this was a great book.

Summary: Yawn
Review: Before I read this book I read Once a Princess And I must say I loved that story but this one was just boring it had afew humorous parts in it but it lacked something.

Summary: My Opinion
Review: Boy did I mess up! I bought this book when it first came out, than stuck it in a closet. Recently I was looking for a good book to read, that I hadn't already reread numerous times, when I came across this one. Reading the back I realized I hadn't even read it yet. It's great! Read it! I had a great time reading it, I hope you do too. See review by "Yet another JL favourite", it does credit to this book.

Summary: A Delightful Distraction
Review: If you are looking for a wonderfully relaxing escape from the world around you, this is the book for you! Johanna Lindsey has successfully combined witty humour, steamy sensuality, and delightful characters into a book that you will not be able to put down. The verbal battles of the strong willed, and naturally gorgious characters, have made this book a personal favorite. When Visili arrives to escort his betrothed to his homeland, his plan is to convince her to cry off by acting the perfect cad. Little does he know that Alexandra is thinking along the same lines....

Summary: Lindsey outdid herself!
Review: I have enjoyed all of Lindsey's books, but this was by far the funniest. The characters, in an attempt to be jilted by the other, battle with each other in the most hilarious way. Alex is especially outrageous. (I laughed so hard at one point I cried!) And for a change, it's the woman that wins most of the battles of will! There's passion, lively characters, a stable storyline ... and an opportunity to visit King Stephen and Tanya from Once a Princess. Definitely a must read.

Summary: Can't miss this sequel to Once a princess ... both are fab!
Review: As a sequel to Once a Princess this is a must read as it ties up loose ends and teaches the arrogant Vas that Love is the teacher in the end and it chooses the when where and whom ...

.... and if there is more to this series, other than Once a Princess and You Belong To Me, can someone put me out of my misery and tell me what they are and how I can get hold of them please?! ... Email me: terresa@tran7.free-online.co.uk thanks!!
