Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: This book was great. The hard to get role of Bronwyn MacCarran is what most women love. I would like to know the order of the velvet series please.

Rating: Summary: I love reading about the Montgomery family Review: this is a cute book. i love to read jude deveraux stuff. mah first book was THE HEIRESS. i am fourteen years old and have only read 5 romance books. i love books that aren't just LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. i like reading about women only being 18-22years old and their "husbands" 25-28 years old. it is cute!
Rating: Summary: A great sequel to "The Velvet Promise"... Review: This is the second Jude Deveraux book I ever read, as I started with the Velvet Series during one of my Christmas breaks from college. Bronwyn and Stephen were as enjoyable as Gavin and Judith. Both were richly drawn characters that I immediately liked. This novel was a wonderful continuation of "The Velvet Promise," and made me anxious to read the next in the series, "Velvet Song."
Rating: Summary: No Romance Here Review: This is the story of the the Second Montgomery brother Steven and Jude brings the story of the family to life, with great secondary characters. But the Romance between Steven and Bronwyn was a disappiontment, in the end I felt Steven deserved better, and Bronwyn deserved the Chartworth Name (the Villian of the story) rather than the Montgomery Name. Steven was kind and giving, but Bronwyn was just plain selfish.
Rating: Summary: Jude Deveraux is always a good writer. Review: This novel is second in the Velvet series, and since I only read the first one so far, I liked this one better. This was a really great book! Very romantic, and the hero, Stephen, is probably the most likable hero of a JD book that I've read so far. I've read other reviewers say that they didn't like Brondwyn, and that she's too strong and too shrewish, however, I disagree. As a general rule, I don't like the really strong heroine, but in this book I understand where Brondwyn is coming from. She is a clan leader, and as such has to be strong, as she is responsible for the safety of her clan. She leads them during battles, helps defend them against the enemy, and tries to settle disputes. In short, she is a real leader, and you can't expect her to suddenly change into a warm and loving wife. She does do that eventually, but meanwhile, you uis therefore responsible for her clan. She has to be a strong feminine character, you can't be a leader otherwise. And you can't blame her for hating Stephen at first! She was taught from birth to hate the English, plus she has personally witnessed destruction that they have wraught on the Scots - on her people. And for the icing on the cake, Stephen did stand her up at their own wedding - for a reason which even I feel is quite weak (his sister-in-law had a bad fall and a miscarriage?) Try that one at a real wedding! So she has every right to hate Stephen, however, I think she could have been a little little softer, to make her a more sympathetic female heroine. The hero of the story, Stephen, seems almost too good to be true. He falls so completely in love with Brandwyn, that he is willing to do anything for her, despite the fact the she hardly appreciates it. He is also very articulate - I found his explanations very well thought out, and it's no wonder that Brondwyn is eventually won over to fall in love with him. I just find it hard to see WHY he was so crazy over her, but that's what romance novels are all about, right? If you're looking for an interesting historical romance, with a strong heroine and an almost ideal hero, this is the story for you.
Rating: Summary: My Favourite of the Velvet Series! Review: This was by far my favourite of the "Velvet Series". I LOVE Stephen and Bronwyn is the woman most women wish to be. I understood both of them and enjoyed their turbulence. It was fun, intriguing and an overall great read. Worth every moment.
Rating: Summary: Best romance of a lifetime! Review: This was the first book I ever read. My mother gave it to me in third grade. I was bothering her while she was tring to read and I asked her if I could read a book too. That was what she just happened to grab. I only asked what one word was, and that was Bronwyn. I still read it every year around my birthday and it gets better and better every time!
Rating: Summary: Loved This Book! Review: Wow! This book was great. I read it in one day. It had everything, funny, witty, sad, exciting, you name it. Jude Deveraux has a way of writing her characters that makes you understand the personality of each one. You'll fall in love with Stephen and rejoice as he wins the hearts of Bronwyn and her clan. This is the first book I have read of the Montgomery Saga, now I can't wait to get started on the rest.
Rating: Summary: 5 stars for this book? Review: WOW. I cannot believe it. People did actually like this book. I would have too if not for the irritating heroine. I cannot help but think she deserves the villain, chatworth, than the gentle Montgomery. Ouch! I really tried to finish this book but I just couldn't stomach it. The heroine is just too loud and distasteful for me. I agree with one reviewer from Moreno Valley, that Bronwyn have too much hate in her heart. That made her look ugly to me. Skip this one and move on to the next book of the series, story of Raine in Velvet Song. I can assure you, u won't miss a thing.
