Summary: A reworking of "Sommersby"
Review: The plot is very similar to the Richard Gere movie "Sommersby" but Dodd goes a step further and this is actually more believeable, though not totally.

I didn't like this one quite as much as In My Wildest Dreams, That's my take, although others obviously disagree. Enid is strong but bitter, understandably so, but that made it take a long time for me to like her.

The England to Scotland shift seemed like a totally unsubtle plot device to me. Others found the mystery compelling; it held little interest for me. Note that this book begins near the end of In My Wildest Dreams. It is most beneficial to read that one first! Some of the story lines & characters overlap.

The hero is a mystery man for nearly 1/2 the book, but I'm not sure that his revelation is an improvement. Something about the Scottish setting & events didn't sit well with me. I have been unable to put my finger on the problem. Perhaps part of the problem is the love scenes; there's a bitter, coerced, used quality to them.

There are good moments in the mystery, but it did not need to be dragged through 3 books (the 2 mentioned & My Favorite Bride).

Summary: A great new twist
Review: There have been other books about married couples who are lost and find their way back to each other. There have also been books about amnesia or mistaken identities. But never has a book so compellingly combined both and presented such a unique twist for the hero and heroine.

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic!
Review: There have been other works of Ms. Dodd that I've thought were amusing and a well told story, but this book was just wonderful. At first I was prepared to enjoy a half way decent story when I was delightfully surprised at it's depth. Why?

Because the characters are SO real! You can understand completely what our heroine is going through, you can both empathize and sympathize. What I love about Ms. Dodd's writing is that her female characters are so strong, not some simpering little damsel in distress.

If you enjoy a really good HONEST romance, this is a book to treasure. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered four more of her books that I hadn't read. She's now officially one of my favorite authors. THIS..is a must read.

Summary: Delicious and wonderfully written
Review: This book packs in all of the fun, unforgettable characters and great writing I've come to expect from Christina Dodd. Enid and Stephen are fully fleshed out (no pun intended!) and their verbal sparring does a poor job of hiding their passion and desire for each other. I'd read about the similarities to Linda Howard's WHITE LIES, too, but found that controversy to be nothing but a tempest in a teapot. Even Linda Howard posted on one of the reader bulletin boards that she found the small degree of similarities to be totally coincidental, no more than might be found in any "amnesia" story. Keep giving us these wonderful stories, Ms. Dodd, because I love to be "lost in your books"!

Summary: Another good Governess story
Review: This is my seventh Christina Dodd book. This is my third governess story and I liked it the least. But I REALLY liked the others. This one, to me, was good but not great. I agree with Sarah's review. Enid annoyed me. Not only did I not like her name, I didn't really feel good about her. She didn't want to leave Lady Halifax, but she did in the blink of an eye. She really didn't want to kiss MacLean the first time, but she did in the blink of an eye. She didn't want to make love (the first time), but she did in the blink of an eye. Do you see the pattern? Also, her excuses for not wanting to marry Kiernan were pretty lame. After all said, I did just go out and by 'Rules of Surrender.'

Summary: Passionate and Fun
Review: This was my first Historical book I have ever read. And i have to say it was very passionate and the characters were wonderful and very down to earth. 5 stars all the way.

Summary: Oh Yes, I'd Get Lost in HIS Arms!
Review: What a wonderful story! Enid MacLean is living a good life, doing so very well after all her struggles. She had been abandoned by her husband Stephen 9 years prior, and left with his debts and the shame yet she had persevered! She had learned a trade (nursing) and had been in a situation as nurse/companion for Lady Halifax. All in all - a comfortable position, until Garrick Throckmorton issued her a summons to come and care for her long estranged and gravely ill husband Stephen.

Stephen MacLean lay, battered and bruised dying, and try as she might, Enid could not turn her back on him no matter how much she would like to forget he existed. So much pain he had caused, but there was no denying those incredible green and gold eyes that opened. How could she find herself drawn to him after he had so callously treated her? Yet, perhaps he had changed in 9 years. He woke, he didn't know her, let alone himself - amnesia after almost being killed? On top of that - people were still trying to kill him.

What a great story! The characters are real - the emotions are real - the erupting passion is HOT! The words of passion and love are like poetry. But lest we not forget, we are speaking of a Christina Dodd novel and the dialog will also be humourous! This has to be one of her best. I felt Enid's pain - the betrayal of Stephen from long ago, the pain of losing a cherished friend and the pain of falling in love and not being able to guard yourself against the hurt that can come of loving the wrong person! Very emotional, suspense, humor, adventure and loving - a GREAT read!

Summary: Great story!!
Review: Yes, the storyline is familiar. So what? This is a great book!!! I got caught up immediately and truly cared about the characters. Plus, it's always nice to have a story that doesn't involve a "de-flowering."
