Rating: Summary: Queen of gothic suspense Review: Barabara Michaels is my favorite author. In this book, as in all her others, she blends suspense and romance without gore or graphic sexual exploits. Her heroines are always intelligent, independent, and memorable. Always a good bedtime read.
Rating: Summary: The best romance novel of the decade still in print. Review: Barbara Michael's "Search the Shadows" is undoubtedly the
best romance novel written in the past decade. While
blatantly escaping all references to real problems, such
as drugs, overpopulation, the economy, etc., Ms. Michaels
manages to remind us of the very hidden truths that can
be found even in the most obvious of plots, but which
become apparent only at the end. Without giving the
ending away, we see that the main driving force for many
of the events that occur in the story is, of course, greed,
and villains become heroes just before your eyes. A MUST!
Rating: Summary: I enjoy Barbara Michaels' books, but... Review: Barbara's books usually keep me captivated. This one did not. I waded about one-third of the way though this book and finally gave up. I did want to know who Haskell's father was, so I skipped to the end. The ending was good, but the rest I found boring. Maybe if you're into Egyptology it's a better read.
Rating: Summary: Addicting, very enjoyable! Review: I am a huge fan of Barbara Michaels books, including those under her real name, Elizabeth Peters. I really loved this book. Search the Shadows features Haskell, a young woman on a journey to find out who her real father is, as well as learn more about her deceased mother. As always, the main character is surrounded by quirky yet endearing characters. Suspense and danger threaten Haskell throughout the novel. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Barbara Michaels's books are fun and enjoyable to read! Review: I don't think I've ever read a Barbara Michaels book that I didn't like, but this was definitely not one of her best efforts. I know Ms. Michaels holds a Ph.D. in Egyptology and the back cover blurb led me to believe this storyline would pertain to Egypt, but it did so only in a minor way. We follow 22 year old Haskell on her search to find out who her real father was and also to learn the truth about her mother's mysterious death when Haskell was an infant. The ending is a surprise, as was which of the several men pursuing Haskell that she picks, but getting there took a long time.

Rating: Summary: Barbara Michaels's books are fun and enjoyable to read! Review: I'm always turning pages quickly when I read one of her books. Sometimes the endings can be a little disappointing, simplistic, but it's great fun ride along the way. The book made me wish I knew and was reading about Leah, the mother, even more so than the daughter.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable read with many twists and turns. Review: The attention Barbara Michaels paid to detail in the telling of this story swept it along. I kept trying to guess the ending -- and kept guessing WRONG
Rating: Summary: Good story Review: The opening pages of this story provide what I think is a realistic and insightful portrayal of what a person goes through when he wants to know the truth about his family history.I refrain from giving this book five stars only because there are so many other Barbara Michaels books, including _Greygallows_ and _The Dark on the Other Side_, that are just a step above this one.
Rating: Summary: Another page- turning sensation by Barbara Michaels! Review: this book was absolutely captivating! once i picked it up i just couldnt put it down! i read it all saturday & saturday night. i took my phone off the hook, sat down, and read! if you like Barbara Michaels usual romantic suspense novels, you'll love this! its her usual romantic suspense except this time, the culperet is far from obvious and Haskell has two possible love interests! My suggestion: take a day off, sit down and ENJOY!!!
