Summary: Isn't there a law against this???
Review: Did the author write this book while watching the movie Sabrina (1954 & 1995)? I could not believe the similarities!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: IN MY WILDES DREAMS
Review: I LIKE CHRISTINA DODDS BOOK AND LOOK FOR NEW ONES ALL THE TIME.
I WAS VERY SURPRISED WHEN I STARTED READING IN MY WILDES DREAMS
BECAUSE IT WAS JUST LIKE THE MOVIE "SABRINA" WITH HARRISON FORD, JULIA ORMND, AND GREG KINNEAR. LOOK FOR THE MOVIE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF HOW CLOSE THE ARE. IT WAS STILL A GOOD BOOK AND I AM GLAD THAT I DID FINNISH IT.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Old Story Told Very Well
Review: Get past the notion that this is a redo of Sabrina and just enjoy the characters, the writing, the wit and the intense passions of this book. It was hard to put down and a joy to pick up. Garrick Throckmorton is a better hero than Harrison Ford and even Humphrey Bogart. Very hot love scenes. A delight all the way.

Summary: Pleasently Surprised
Review: I am a great fan of Ms. Dodd and I am ususally waiting with excitement for her next book to be released. However, when I read the synopsis of this book, I immediatley recognized the plot of Sabrina. I loved the orginal and hate remakes. Therefore I was reluctant to purchase this one. But I did, while I was waiting for a perscription to be refilled at the pharmacy. I have to admit it. I was very surprised that it would be this entertaining. I have read all the governess series books. This is the best hero yet. He is not with out flaws but you can respect and understand him. He cares for others and learns to open himself to love. I love Celeste. She is not the naive waif of the orginal story. She has her own strengh, dreams and desires. She does not hesitate to act on them. She knows what she wants and she follows her dreams. I love that she is an independent person and not dependent on her situation or on any man. She has control of her life. (As much as any woman can be in this time period). The spy plot could have been a larger part of this book, but I did enjoy how it was not exactly like Sabrina. When you stop thinking of the orginal you enjoy the development of these characters so much more. I am glad I purchased the book.

Summary: Very good, though the similarity to Sabrina is jarring
Review: I am a fan of Christina Dodd's previous works and was excited to read this. I was slightly disappointed that this book SO closely mirrored the story line to Sabrina and it was somewhat jarring, as you could predict the story line. However, about halfway she moves away from the step-by-step retelling of the Sabrina tale and the book really takes off. Overall, it's another excellent book by Dodd - very enjoyable and the characters are lively and very real. Celeste is a strong, non-whiny heroine and highly enjoyable to read; Garrick is an excellent counterpart to her. If you can get beyond the "Sabrina" storyline, it's a highly enjoyable book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fun but not up to her potential
Review: Yes, I too love Sabrina and can't understand why Dodd does not give credit somewhere at some point to the originators of the plot and characters. She could have done so much more with this.
That said, it's worth reading.

Summary: Not very original
Review: I am wondering if Ms Dodd was under some sort of a deadline and needed to get a book out. Totally lacked in originality with an almost character-by-character scene-by-scene remake of Sabrina. It is hard to enjoy a book when there is no suspense at all as to what will happen next. I guess if you never saw the movie, you would enjoy this, but it is hard to imagine there are too many people out there that missed either the original or the remake. I really liked the other Governess books but this does not really even tie into those. Very disappointing.

Summary: Another Great Christina Dodd!
Review: I loved the "Rules" series and other books by Christina Dodd. This one was a treasure. Her mix of humor and sensuality is perfect. Even the secondary characters found love in this book. This will be on the bestseller lists.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: pretty good
Review: The fact that it was based on "Sabrina" really threw me off for the first half of the novel. It was almost like reading a book version of the movie. The settings didn't feel "historical" at all.

That's the only reason I gave it a 4 stars. Otherwise, the writing and story was great.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: disappointing
Review: I wish I had read Harriet's review before buying this book. I loved the rest of the Governess bride and Bar Cynster series from Chrisinta Dodd, so I was really looking forward to reading it. But, when I suddenly found myself reading a remake of Sabrina, I found myself exceedingly disappointed. Sabrina is one of my all-time favorite movies, and in my opinion, this 'remake' does not do it justice.
