Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I was thrilled at the release of Going Overboard. This sweet and suspenseful book was loaded with lots of heat. Carly Sullivan is out to find the perfect man for the perfect commercial. She finds Ford McKay, Navy SEAL, who has been sent to protect her. Sparks fly. The story was nicely paced and the characters were well written. I wish Ms. Skye would have instensified the ending a tad. Ford's fear of the future could have been more poignant. (Julia Quinn's Duke and I, has changed how I view romance heroes!) The epilogue was sweet and left me wanting more. Ok, Ms. Skye, how about one big last bash at Draycott Abbey?
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful De-Stresser! Review: If you are looking for a romantic getaway (in your head, anyway) then Going Overboard will be hard to beat. The energy and sparkle starts from the very first paragraph and never lets up yet gives you enough breathing space to absorb the characters' personalities. This isn't heavy stuff so if you need something to lighten up your day or even complement the mood if you really are going on vacation, then Going Overboard will be just the thing. The protagonist, Ford McKay is incredible as far as the looks department goes but Skye has also made him an articulate, caring male. Not just an overload of testosterone who thinks the way to a woman's heart in this day and age is by being a jerk (for some inexplicable reason, these creatures seem to proliferate the romance genre these days!) An unexpected development - Daphne, Carly's best friend, turns out even more attractive a person than the heroine and begs to have a book of her own! I can't wait to know if this is to be!
Rating: Summary: A fast and entertaining read Review: My first Christina Skye book, and it won't be my last. I did find myself having to reread sections at times; but for the most part it was very well written. BUT maybe McKay DID fall a little "too easy" for a SEAL. Other than that, the only disappointment was I was waiting for Izzy and Daphne to get together...maybe some other cruise? All in all, a very enjoyable read that I would highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: Love on a cruise ship! Review: Since I love to read books set in the Caribbean and I love cruising, this book immediately appealed to me and did not disappoint. The story moved well and kept me interested and the setting was wonderful, of course. Toward the end of the book, things started getting a little implausible, with maybe too many elements thrown together, but overall it was a wonderful book without a lot of "bodice-ripping" fluff. Great beach book!
Rating: Summary: I've read much better Review: The on-line reviews of this Navy seal story looked good. I was not impressed. This is the first from Christina Syke that I have read. I found myself getting lost and having to re-read text to see who was talking. At one point I thought the characters were still in the hotel when further on I realized they moved to the car. I've ready many ho-hum stories but rarely with such choppy dialog. With so many other books on my "to read" list, I felt this book a waste of time. For a good romantic Navy SEAL series, try Suzanne Brockmann's Over the Edge, Out of Control and Into the Night!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing!! Review: This book has a misleading cover and it states that the story is a "wonderfully sexy romance...fabulous, outrageous fun". The person who made that statement must be thinking of another book. Outrageous fun? Would you consider being wounded and recovering in a mansion under tight security with a bodyguard in tow to be fun? Not to mention that you are being stalked by your stepfather's enemies? I think not! This book is heavy on the suspense but the problems I had with this story overshadowed a fairly decent storyline. Most scenes were short and clipped with dialogue I found at times to be contradictory and confusing. Wonderfully sexy romance? Not so! I found the romance part of this story to be lukewarm. The leading characters were boring and uninteresting. Ford McKay did not turn out to be the rugged, take charge type of Navy SEAL I had envisioned and Carly Sullivan's constant obsessive and workaholic personality quickly became annoying. This was my first Christina Skye novel and I was not impressed with her style of writing. This book will not make it to my keeper shelf.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Romantic Suspense novels I have read Review: This is one of the best Romantic Suspense novels I have read in a while... Firstly there is no betrayal.. I hate betrayals.. Funny in places - emotional in others and some wonderful characters which seem to be Christina Skye's signature. I also like the fact that each character has their own personalities...I love this book as much as have the Draycott Series.. I am about to read 2000 kisses... I love her comtempories.. These books will definately be on my keeper shelves. Can't wait for more of the same... So here you go if like me you like action and adventure with suspense hot love scene.. climatic moments then this is a book for you... Buy it - its worth it. Thanks Christina for some wonderful entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Love those Navy Seals!!! Review: This is the first book I've read by Ms. Skye. The story flowed rapidly and I thoroughly enjoyed the dialog between Carly and McKay, no pretense, tell it just like it is!! Gives you lots of heart gulping moments and boy can Ms. Skye describe kissing!! The secondary characters, Daphne and Izzy, fit in like gloves. The ending was brilliant. I don't want to describe the ending because it would ruin the surprise. This book was full of adventure, romance and people you'd like to hear more about. I've just finished reading Susanne Brockmann's 3 books which were also about Navy Seals. These two writers are fantastic!!
Rating: Summary: good quick read Review: This is the first book of this author's that I have read and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the banter between the characters. I loved the vivid descriptions of the characters and the exotic settings. The action kept the story moving. I couldn't put it down. I'm a big fan of military romance (Navy SEALs in particular). I didn't give it a 5 star rating because it doesn't compare with others I have read. If you like military romance, you should read this book. It's middle of the road between being really weak and too heavy. If you're looking for something a bit heavier, or with a bit more action with the romance, I suggest Suzanne Brockmann's SEAL Team16 series.
Rating: Summary: pretty good read Review: WARNING - this review will give away part of the ending. I enjoyed this book until the end, when a detail caused by poor editting irritated the enjoyment out of me. A character announces that she is four months pregnant. Next chapter (marked "Seven Months Later"), she goes into premature (by one month) labor, according to dialogue spouted by another character. Hello? Four months, plus seven and she's still one month to term? There are a lot of editting errors that won't be caught, but come on -- a twelve month pregnancy? That is just poor editting.
