Summary: Not for the thinking reader...
Review: Just for the mere fact that the author probably worked extremely hard to complete this book, proving to have more discipline and mettle than myself at this time, I give it 2 stars. (It would be 5 if that was all i was judging). Otherwise, I found the story itself to be a bit trite. It could have been a lot better without some of the eye-rolling metaphors and silly characters whose bodies seem to be able to perform some pretty super human feats in the bedroom. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a great romance, but I would if you're looking for a good laugh.

Summary: A Truly Superb Scottish Romance!
Review: Linnet MacDonnell was the seventh daughter of the Laird of Clan MacDonnell. She was a plain lass with none of the beauty of her elder sisters, with only her flaming tresses to mark her, and a gift, a sight that could be more a burden than a blessing, a mysterious ability that was known throughout the Highlands. Magnus MacDonnell, a drunken lout and her father, cared not that he was giving her to the fiercest laird in all the Highlands, and their sworn enemy. A man who it was whispered had killed his first wife, a man who possessed neither heart nor soul.

Duncan MacKenzie of Kintail did not want a wife, surely not a lass who's flaming hair and pretty face could tempt a saint, nor who's innocence could awaken a sensuality and desire he had long thought dead, nor to awaken the heart he had thought torn from his chest years ago. No, the only reason he married the MacDonnell lass was for her sight, to ease the burning question in his mind: was Robbie truly his son? But Duncan get's more than he bargained for, as the very first day at Eilean Creag Linnet turns his life and his castle up side down, daring him to do what he fears most: love. But with betrayal lurking within and without of the castle, will Duncan surrender to the love and passion brewing inside his battered heart only to lose his beloved lady wife and young Robbie to the evil plotting to destroy his life and his home?

Sue-Ellen Welfonder is one of the newest rising stars in Historical Romance, with Devil in a Kilt her first published novel. This wonderfully woven tale will have you rooting for Linnet and Duncan as they each awaken to love and passion. A superb new book that has me anticipating the sequel concerning one of the supporting characters.

Summary: A page turner that will have you coming back for more!
Review: Setting her quill to parchment, Ms. Welfonder has chosen to relate a tale straight from the Highlands of Scotland...Duncan Mackenzie known as the Black Stag... is a father who fears to love fully....Robbie an innocent child who is caught in a web of suspected parental infidelity and Linnet MacDonnell... who's powers of second sight may solve the myustery.

Duncan wants to belive that Robbie is His son... and sends for Linnet.. hoping she will use her gift to find out the truth. But upon seeing the child... she has second thoughts about going through with it... Robbie's future depends on her answer...will the truth release Duncan from the chains of doubt or forever bind him in a prison of his own making???

Her rousing call to battle scene in the Great Hall with Duncan on the trestle table had me ready to grab a broom and soup ladle from the scullery and join the Mackenzies on the castle walls.

She's created a wondrous tale and draw the reader back to the wild Scottish Highlands where love, adventure and suspense keep you on your bench waiting for her to continue her story.

Keep your eye on Ms Welfonder and save a place on your keeper shelf for all of her upcoming books.

Summary: A stunning historical debute
Review: Sue-Ellen Welfonder bursts onto the romance scene like a comet with her first novel, DEVIL IN A KILT. With large doses of steamy romance, a smattering of mystery and a pinch of the paranormal, she entraps the reader and holds on tightly for every page. When you start reading this book, make sure you have plenty of time and a good night's sleep, because you won't put it down until you read 'the end.' A fabulous, enthralling read and a definite keeper.

Summary: A good ole fashioned Scottish romance...
Review: Sue-Ellen Welfonder's first novel, *Devil in a Kilt*, is definitely a treat for fans of historical romance, particularly those set in Scotland. The book has a fast pace, with lots of romance, danger, and suspense. I don't read a lot of romance novels these days, but this was a great one to reacquaint myself with the genre.

Linnet MacDonnell is coerced by her father into marrying Duncan MacKenzie, the Black Stag, as he is called by his enemies (Duncan is great friends with Robert the Bruce). Duncan chose to wed Linnet sight-unseen based on her 'plain' looks and sixth sense. Duncan's alleged son, Robbie, may be the child of his wife and dispicable half-brother, and he wants Linnet to find out once and for all, the truth. Once he actually lays eyes on her, however, he finds himself in the midst of an uncontrollable lust for Linnet, a naive woman in her own right.

The novel spins a tale of back and forth love between the two main characters and Duncan's multiple run-ins with Kenneth. Readers will be expecting the storybook ending, but it's still a fun ride. *Devil in a Kilt* is one of those novels you read when you're in the mood for comfort food (and books). Enjoy!

Summary: Don't miss this book!
Review: This book has it all! A bit of humor, a touch of the paranormal, and great romance with some very good historical detail and dialog. This is a terrific first book by a real up and coming author!

Summary: Devil in a Kilt
Review: This is the first book I've read by Sue-Ellen Welfonder and it problably won't be the last. I didn't really like the cover at first but then after I got into the story I really could see the model on the front being Duncan. He is a troubled man who has been bitterly betrayed by his first wife and is said to have killed her for the betrayal. He is unsure whether his son is actually his son so he weds Linnet, a woman who is reported to have the gift of sight to tell him what he needs to know.

Linnet is torn from all that she has known to a far away castle by a man who weds her but only wants her for her gift. She is determined to make him love his son no matter his parentage. she also wishes for his love for herself and hopes to bring laughter and happiness back into his life.
I liked this book and I would like to see a sequel about Duncan's best friend Maraduke, a man who's scars go deeper than the flesh.

Summary: A Great Scottish Tale
Review: This was a great book. Don't miss it. The story of Linnet and Duncan is very touching. Duncan does not want anything from Linnet except an answer to his most pressing question yet he finds himself falling in love with his long sworn enemies daughter. Linnett is bartered away and has no choice in the marriage to Duncan MacKenzie but Linnett is stuborn and she listens to her heart. The end result is a wonderful love story. Don't miss this one.

Summary: A Fantastic Scottish Medieval. A MUST BUY!
Review: To be Sue-Ellen's first book... she came out with a BANG! She drew me in from the first page and I couldn't put this book down. Great historical information and a wonderful love story. The secondary characters related to each other perfectly and were such a hoot. I'm looking forward to Marmaduke's story with a passion! Linnet took an emotionally wounded Duncan and drew out his inner qualities that lay hidden and he became the man she had been longing to love with all her heart. She is a beautiful woman who doesn't feel she's beautiful like her sisters, therefore she fears she will never have a true love.

This is a book about two people who find love. One who was looking for love, and another who wasn't. Don't let this book pass you by.

Summary: Great Read!!
Review: WOW!! This was an incredible tale, with interesting characters and a terrific plot. I couldn't believe that Sue-Ellen was a rookie author...and I can't wait for her next work. Duncan and Linnet are a dynamic mix of love, lust and adventure. This book makes me wish I lived a castle in medieval Scotland.
