Summary: 5 stars for Dream 4 for Believe
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed DREAM OF ME. I listened to it on tape and played it everywhere I went on my walkman. Wolf kidnaps the beautiful Cymbra for the sake of peace among the Saxon and Norse clans. He had originally requested she accept him but when his letter was rejected he took her by force. One writer said that they were too perfect and nothing to write home about. I beg to differ. Sometimes some stories are so incredibly full of strife that they get so exasperating. This story reminds me of the many written by Julie Garwood... my favorite all time historical writer. As for BELIEVE IN ME... I did enjoy the characters although I wasn't thrilled about Krysta's beliefs that she was not a normal human being. I have a hard time reading about what in my mind is fantasy. Thorgold and Raven's presence would have been fine if they weren't magical. I'm not into magic... that's fake. Nevertheless, Hawks sister Daria does things in the first book but all is discovered in the second. I have just started reading Come Back to Me and have no doubt it will be another winner.. provided there aren't any wizards.

Summary: Vivid Scenes * Perfect Pace * Great Characters
Review: I was planning to get the third book before I was done with the first! The conflicts lacked those stupid misunderstandings. The frustration was still there in the conflicts, but the couple stayed on the same page and then came the making up! Splendid!

1st timer of JL : I hope to find the same enjoyment in her other series as Josie Litton. note: I've seen refs to her being aka Maura Seger.

Summary: A double treat!
Review: I've only recently discovered the historical romance genre. These two novels were part of my initiation. Through them, I've discovered that detailed characters, realistic worlds, intricate social interactions and commentary can all have a place within a genre that is a subset of "Romance". Harlequin romances these aren't. Well-written novels that can stand up on their own, these are. I recommend them highly! I can't wait to read more from Josie Litton.

Summary: Great new author! Great new novels!
Review: If "Dream of Me/Believe in Me" are any indication of the future, then Josie Litton is bound to be a success in the book world. I picked up the two-in-one book at my local book store on a Friday and by Sunday had read both novels and am proud to say that I am a new fan of hers. She has a brilliant mind and a wonderful way of introducing you interesting characters and places.

The first novel, "Dream Of Me" introduces us to Wolf Hakonson, feared Viking of the Northlands. He has just kidnapped Lady Cymbra, a beautiful Saxon. The marriage between the two would've brought together the warring Norse/Saxon's, that is before Cymbra's brother Wolfe rudely turned him down. So in vengence Wolf kidnapps Cymbra and threatens to kill her if she does not marry him. Cymbra marries Wolf and soon becomes mistress to his keep, much to the chagrin of some women that live there. Eventually Cymbra begins to earn the respect of Wolf's people as well as Wolf. But deep down Wolf cannot fully accept that Cymbra will not betray him and return to England with her brother Hawke, who is planning to re-kidnap her and kill Wolf. Can she convince him that she loves him before it's too late? And will the threat against her and Wolf's ever be revealed?

In the second novel "Believe In Me", we once again meet up with the handsome Lord Hawke of Essex. Seeing that the marriage of his sister Cymbra and Wolf Hakonson has brought peace between the Norse and the Saxons, Hawke is convinced to take a Norse bride. What he gets is Krysta, a young woman who comes to Hawkforte under the assumed identity of a servant girl. Almost immediately there are feelings between Hawke and Krysta, though Hawke knows that he shouldn't be having them seeing that he is about to be married to someone else. Soon her true identity is revealed and Hawke and Krysta are married, but to the disappointment of Hawke's older, vengeful sister Daria. Like Cymbra and Wolf, there is an unknown evil that is threatening the alliance and the lives of Krysta and Hawke. Will they be able to discover who is behind the betrayals before someone dies?

I really enjoyed both of these novels and look forward to reading the next book in the series "Come Back to Me", revolving around Dragon (Wolf's brother and Hawke's friend). I've always enjoyed historical novels and it was very interesting to learn more about Norse mythology/religion in these two books. I also look forward to reading more from Josie Litton. She is, from what I've read so far, a talented author and surely a successful future lies ahead for her.

Summary: Rich in detail, great characters
Review: If you enjoy historical romance, then do yourself a favor and check out these two books by Josie Litton. The writing is descriptive and the rich historical detail is more than just wallpaper (a flaw in many current historicals). The characters in both books are well-drawn and interesting. Personally, I preferred the first of the two, but I definitely liked them both a lot. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because I think the "magical/paranormal" aspects of the heroines in both seemed rather incomplete and inconsistent. The "gifts" were very present sometimes and missing other times without real explanation. Beyond that minor plot comment, these books are terrific. Check them out - you'll be glad you did! I can't wait to dive into the third!!

Summary: Buy it now, a real keeper.
Review: It is always so exciting when you find a new author you can enjoy. I noted another review mentioning other authors, very good authors, but Ms Litton stands well on her own. Please run out at pick up this book so you will be ready for the last enstallment at the end of the month. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the publisher introducing us to this great new voice in a double book and I feel it was the best money I've spent on a book in a long time.

Summary: Reminded me of Elizabeth lowell's earlier historicals
Review: It's a good read for these dry times when there's not much excellent books around. I just gave it a four since the plot reminded me of Elizabeth lowell's historical romance trilogy about gifted women, Untamed, Forbidden and Enchantment--title of the books. I recommend to give those a try, they're really good.

Summary: Dream of Me......
Review: Ive only read the first installment of this trilogy thus far, but I have to say that I enjoyed it immensely. Wolf was soooo sexy, and I liked the fact that although Cymbra was delicate, she wasnt helpless. The lovescenes were steamy and frequent, but what really stood out was when I was able to just sit back and enjoy watching them get to know one another. The food-fighting scene was one that I will never forget..one of the funniest Ive read in a long while. I would highly recommend reading this..I look forward to diving into Believe in Me next...

Summary: Yes! A really good new talent!
Review: Litton is both literate and entertaining; her plots hold together and her characters are interesting. This is a keeper.

Summary: Completely exceeded my expectations!
Review: Normally, I'm not a big fan of romances set in medieval times. But "Dream of Me" completely exceeded my expectation that I had to go out and buy "Return to Me" so I can read the entire trilogy over the Christmas holidays. What is so great about this book is that the author never succumbed to the pitfalls that plagued so many of the romances of this kind. Both the hero and heroine are extremely intelligent and noble people deserving of each other's love, and even though they come from warring clans, they were always willing to talk to each other about their concerns and differneces. They were willing to work on their relationship even though they only came together for political reaons, and when every time something happens that screams "silly misunderstanding", the author always manages to sidestep that and come up with original and satisfying ways of resolving the issue.

As a sequel to "Dream of Me", "Believe in Me" pales somewhat in comparison. The hero failed to distinguish himself from Hawk, and the heroine often seem too preoccupied with her secrets. Her worries are sympathetic during the first part of the book, but towards the end her preoccupation started to get grating. It was this book that lowered my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars.
